Fallout 3 guide creation #3: Training Chapter Overview

Wasn't Lenny able to wear it in FO2?

Not that I usually take the slowly ass of Lenny but he had a lot of HP to couter the fact he wasn't able to use any armor at all.

Could be wrong, of course, but I doubt it.

As a matter of fact, I'm completely sure.

hehehehe, all this talk about the shotgun, yet no one details why it is structurally flawed. :)
look at the barrel, the ejection port and the magazine. gun don't worky that way. :P

the magazine feeds the chamber, and the ejection port allows the shell to be ejected as it is extracted from the chamber. the gun made by bethesda could work, if the ejection port was near the magazine. but even then, the design would be pointless, as you'd be loosing a lot of barrellength and at the same time adding useless length to the gun.
in short, the drum should be in front of the triggerguard. this means better use of the longer barrel, while no longer being structurally flawed. makes you wonder if no one at Bethesda is a recreative or sport shooter... surely someone must've spotted this?

as for influences? yes, definately the PPSh-41 (aka "the russian tommy gun") with a modified Streetsweeper magazine.

(yes, i'm aware of alternate ejection methods, so don't bother mentioning them. there is no evidence of such implementation in this case.)

That's what my comment about logic was all about, you beat me to the punch with this. Hell, I don't shoot and I don't know what most parts on a gun are called but since the first time I saw it I thought it was stupid. You don't have to shoot or be into guns to realize that having the magazine a foot ahead of the ejection port on this weapon isn't going to work. All that said, the weapon they are ripping off does look pretty cool and I can kind of see why they would turn it into a shotgun with the big barrel shroud but it shows a lack of logic and understanding. Hell, their version has indentations in the barrel matching the holes in the barrel shroud but all this would do is create stress (failure) points all along the barrel which would deform with heat and screw up ballistics.

That all said, had they had the magazine in the right place I'd likely be happy with it since it does have a cool look but I still don't see why they stole the aesthetics (ie ripped off the design) from a sub machine gun instead of a real automatic shotgun or just created their own (though this doesn't seem like their strong point).

Frankly its a mash up of both weapons, it has the windup key and the blowout ports of the SA shotgun.

an interesting side note, the final major production variant has an Extraction system for spent shells that would kick the shells out when the mecanism rotated the revolver mechaism, and an enhanced wind up system for the that was suposed to keep the "Revolver" wound longer.

To be honest what would have been interesting would have been a combo weapon, SMG over Shotgun under system.

kind of like the combos that exist in real life today.

Gah. The shotgun design? Cessna wing PA? Its embarrassing. Oh and the zomb-goul on the right looks to be wearing the same armor as Jericho. He's a NPC for hire in Megaton I think. Leather Armor MKII maybe?

Why is it that when 'we' are coming up with an explaination "we're reading too much in it" but when someone else comes up with one to explain why Fallout 3 is/might be good then it's fine.

Bethsoft shouldn't be making these mistakes in the first place and requiring either side to guess at their reasoning.

The assumption that the Player is the one with the pip boy 3000 is a fairly easy one to make.... I haven't seen anyone else with one. Does that mean you're wrong & I'm right? Nope, but it does mean both of us are guessing based on our knowledge.

What are your thoughts on the Pip boy 3000 possibly being general equipment that any NPC or mob can have? Personally I feel it's a mistake as it means that upgrades for the Pip boy will be more common and as result lessen the feeling the world is falling apart.

Sorry I was not saying your wrong, just mearly that maybe there was a better explanation, and that not many ideas had been presented.

As far as the spoiler below my first post...WOW. I just seriosuly cannot fathom Beth's ideas now. From the purchase in '04 tilll about May '08 I held loads of hope they could get it right "enough", knowing that without Van B we'd never see the F3 we all wanted. But with more news like this crap coming out everyday im questioning even buying it. I mean morrowind and Oblivion we're okay. nothing special and they did get old...fast. I never even completed those games and if this is the direction Beth has taken for fallout seems like FO:OL is the only other fallout I will play that I have yet to.

Also, Asuir thanks for the info didn't see those quotes
