Fallout 3 headed to XBox? Not unlikely

Briosa I think you are talking more from a publishers side than from a developers. And I think you misunderstood what I meant with "best profit". If you sell Fallout3 only for PC, then you have possible ~20-40% of the entire video game market, and hell, maybe only 5-10% of those 30-40% will actually care about the game, and care enough to buy it. If you then expand onto the console market, you get maybe a total of 60% (if "consoles" is 360 and PS3) of the market, and if as low as 5-10% then buy it, you would make more money, unless porting the game takes several months.

After all, they do make multi platform games for a reason...

No, that's also from a developer's point of view.

Developing a game for another platform costs the *developer* more, not the publisher. The publisher would actually probably stand to make more money than the developer there.

Also, the PC accounts for a hell of a lot more marketshare than 20-40%, because as I said *everybody has a PC*. The consoles seperately only represent a relatively small marketshare, the consoles combined represent about an equal marketshare. However, there is significant overlap between consoles, and *each console* requires a lot more money to develop for. Mainly because they are not just portable, you could need to re-write much of the code (at least in the graphics department) for each console, and you need to spend a lot more time doing QA for each console seperately.

Anyway, as far as I remember, in an old interview released shortly after their acquisition of the license they did say they'll try to develop it for as many consoles as possible, so it's not much of a surprise.

I even seem to remember them mentioning something about the portable consoles, but I'm not sure.

Touch-screen Fallout! Rock on!

Swing your Wii controller in precise patterns to perform special attacks in real time! Finally player skill has an impact on the game world! Character skill was only used before when we didn't have the hardware!

Oh, and you prove your intelligence with swearing? Is that how it goes on in here? Right. You sure are one hell of a smart fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Now im in the band, right?

Anyway, you can bitch and moan all you like, but i know one thing. You will ALL buy that shit. And that's all it takes.

Uh, no, but thanks for trying.

Sad, but true. I would be very surprised if you know three things.

You will ALL buy that shit. And that's all it takes.
All it takes to do what? Spread stupidity? Is that what happened to you, friend?

Hehehe, we are monsters. That's a good one.

And for swearing, how about this; you, whtvr, are a fucktard. That's right, a grade A, perfect example of fucktard.

You are given arguments and you interpret them as a personal attack on your person.

Nobody needs nor wants your kind here and you are free to fuck off with your cattle mentality, troll.

He is right on the fact that you are monsters. That's no joke when you haven't been here more than a few months haha 8)

Developing a game for another platform costs the *developer* more, not the publisher.

In part true, but I didn't even went there because except for a dozen developer houses they always get the worse deals, which explains why Beth still works as a publisher sometimes, and why Bioware went to the alliance and is increasingly betting on digital distribution in the long term. Developing houses always get the sharp end of the stick, with a few exceptions (Square, ID, Maxis, Blizzard, Valve and a few more).

Still for those that make it having a strong foot on the PC market and branching off seems more interesting than betting on consoles as the basis of their work, only very few accomplished the turnaround to a console first marketing strategy (the GTA crew, Bioware is going to try it with Mass Effect after not succeeding with Jade Empire, Beth is doing it now with a new perspective, namely the XBox download market to try to make the console releases more profitable).

So don't write off the PC market just yet sTOlve, maybe in three or four years, but not just yet.

Edit:
Forget it.

Already forgotten, all the best.

Man, the suggestion from <s>Rosh</s>Game of the Year to ban you is a mighty tempting one, but fact is I think you give us good target practice, because you're exactly the kind of person that is locked into groupthink without any kind of selfawareness about it that will flood our forums in the coming year.

So if you would please run to and fro while we empty Red Ryder LE's on you?

PS: special rank'd to serve as a warning sign, tho'

Now i know why you were blacklisted.

I'm afraid you don't, skippy. The fansites were blacklisted because they hold a certain level of standards for Fallout, which(shock, horror) Oblivion With Guns falls well below. Instead, the Fallout community has this bizarre and unreasonable demand that Fallout 3 should actually be qualifiable as a Fallout cRPG, which is something that Bethesda has no intentions whatsoever of delivering.

Bye bye now! Thanks for playing!

As is the case with all of our games, especially those of this scope, we don't really want to talk about them until they are in a state where we can show you, rather than having you simply picturing it in your minds eye.”...
“Fallout is not a quick two year process, and we are already several years into the project.”

Unless it actually turn out decently, I won't buy it. At all. I know most other people here won't either, if it turns out to be shite. Because, quite simply, no one bought FOBOS either.
