Fallout 3's first DLC, Operation: Anchorage, has gone live on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 points, and is also available via Games for Windows Live.<blockquote>Story

The Brotherhood Outcasts are trying to acquire advanced military technology, and the only way to open the vault containing these relics is by completing a tactical simulation only you can enter. In Operation: Anchorage you will re-live the epic Battle of Anchorage from Fallout lore. Find your way into the simulation, stripped of resources, and survive within the rules set up by the simulation’s creators. The Chinese red army is everywhere, so secure the surrounding mountain side and fight your way into the Chinese base.

Nice...

...but in Greece (and many other countries), Windows Live is not available. Does that mean we won't get our hands on the expansion?

Nice going Bethesda...

Unless your local publisher makes a deal with Bethesda to release the DLC by another method, that is indeed what that means.

I'm about to go download this right now, for I have no school tomorrow! SNOW DAY FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

A key feature... or THE key feature? This sounds mind-boggingly exciting. A never ending flat field filled with random encounters!

Downloaded it, I had 1000 pts so I figured might as well, by the way it's about 350 megabytes. I'll play it later....when I'm sober.

So no one else could do it ? I never liked such parts ... again the whole world just waits for "you".

yeah, sometimes when playing a game I just want to be that regular guy the hero runs past on the street. I want so spend all my in-game time just standing there, using one or two lines if the hero would happen to talk to me.

Don't be so contentious. There's not just a binary choice between being a passive bystander or the entire world relying on you. This whole ego-stroking, "everything is about you" stuff just doesn't work for a lot of people, especially when it's as unlikely as a simulation waiting for you, personally.

oh, I was just joking. I actually agree. I mean, I play games to be the hero etc, but I prefer when the circumstances feel at least a bit natural and it's obvious that the developers tried to make sense.

Man there is a major shizstorm brewing on the official forums.

They appear to have pretty much managed to piss of a large chunk of the PC community on the forums.

The fact that people have completed it in one to two hours without rushing isn't helping much either.
Heck Fable 2's DLC lasted longer than that.

Although all seems well on the 360 LIVE service, the DLC isn't showing up on Games for Windows LIVE in many countries, like Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Portugal, Japan. No one knows why. Fail.

Hrmm I'm interested to see how this goes over, especially given the other topic where they said the game sucks as an FPS. If Alpha's comments are true, this could elicit some anger.

The funny thing is, they said it sucks as a shooter but the first DLC will be more focused on the shooter-part than the main game...

The same thing like with the bomb in Megaton...

Oh nice, I didn't think they'd cock it up like this. And people say Games For Windows Live is the future of PC gaming, heh. And what did they do to my poor Gauss Rifle! :(
