Fallout 3 screenshots galore

This picture's title (Tesla, inventor of the glowing pearl) is an unnecessary irony. The "glowing pearl" is actually supposed to be a ball lightning. It is a reference to one of thousands rumours about the famous scientist. It has it that at a party in Tesla's house he not only showed to all guests a ball lightning but also took it in hands and cut it in half.

It left a pile of soot, but yeah. Now that I think about it, has any FPP game bothered with gory death animations that go beyond simple gibbing and dismemberment?

Non-gibbing death animations are really pretty hard to do in 3D. Fallout's death animations are easy enough in 2D, but tougher in 3D.

Oh man, hey BN any idea why this Perk shows up? From a past incident?

Bethesda already showed in Oblivion they're not above making fun of their own fans. It's pretty childish stuff, but whatever.

And yeah, it was known already, winterraptor.

What did they do in Oblivion, to make fun of the fans?

I like how they rattle off the list of weapons that are affected by the Energy Weapon skill.

Especially the Alien Blaster, not so much an Easter Egg as it is something you could find in a random mail box, next to an alien skeleton.

Hey the filename on that mullet picture means it's the one I edited. I better beat you to the punch on this one I fiddled with in photoshop.

Might be good for the Vault.

Looks like there are four races to choose from.

What? You can't play as a Jew, Tutsi, Aborigene, Laplander, Arab or Filipino?

OUTRAGE! DISCRIMINATION!

In all seriousness, tho'. I haven't noticed any shadows from buildings and objects. I mean, the objects themselves have highlights and shadows, but they don't seem to project any kind of shadow.

Eh, the poses (which are a good indication of the animation quality) look really awkward. Look at the two guys aiming their guns... very unnatural. There's no way that's mocap.

Every black person looks like a fucking clone of that armorer in Imperial City, and just about every other black person in Oblivion.

Though most perks so far have been really inane +skill or %damage ones, I have to say I'm curious about those "child at heart" and "scoundrel" there.

There was this one NPC in Oblivion called M'aiq the Liar that would mock the fans' pre-release criticism and concerns with such lines as "M'aiq is glad he has a compass. Makes it easy to find things. Much better than wandering around like a fool", or "Some people want special bows that take too long to load and need special arrows called bolts. M'aiq thinks they are idiots". As if calling your fans fools and idiots wasn't awfully insulting and petty from Bethesda's part, they added insult to injury by making him unkillable even though he's not essential to any quest whatsoever.

i think i saw somewhere that "child at heart" is just extra dialogue with children like "lady killer/black widow" is for women/men

* i am curious about scoundrel though...

The animations still look like shit. The raiders moving, standing up straight, not trying to get to cover at all. Copy and paste stalker for fucks sake.

Why the fuck didn't they say black? All the blacks now have dual citizenship in africa and america? Not to mention that they include that politically correct bullshit in a game that goes against everything that IS politically correct.

I want to buy this game so I can take a shit on it and mail it back to bethesda headquarters.

He was in Morrowind as well, and both appearances are basically used as a dismissal of the previous fanbase. It wasn't quite so much of a spit in the face in Morrowind, but I thought they took it to a downright unprofessional level in Oblivion.

As for the screenshots...
Well, I can kind of see now why they didn't want a textbox or to show dialogs in demos. They obviously have nothing interesting or clever to put in them.

Also. That's not even funny. If you're gonna put something in a game like that......at least have it be funny.

And the "nerd rage" is a reference to the Fallout "community"?? It's not a reference to Brian Posehn?

I have to say I'm curious about those "child at heart" and "scoundrel" there.
Child at heart?

No. Child in reality. Your characters 17. That's still a kid. More than just "at heart"

And I just throw that in here, because that's a really small detail......but it bugs the shit out of me.

You mean a 19-year old, who is old enough to grow a beard.

People were offended by M'aiq? Haha!

I'm sure they'll send you a thank you letter after wiping off the turd and selling it to someone else.

I thought he was 19, even then, at 17 you're not a child, tbh.

19. My bad.

wtf does a beard have to do with anything?

Yeah. I get it.

And, yeah. It's 19. Old enough to grow a beard (even though I'm 21, and my beard growing skills suck. Not sure why beards are in this convo)

Well, the dialogue is pretty shit, but atleast these pictures give a better picture than the official ones IMO. I don't care about the graphics that much ( lol guys you play like 10 years old Fallout and whine about the graphics of Fallout 3 :D ). The ghoul looks really good, in the official pics I got the picture that they'd be some half skeletons half... nothing.
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=3072&mode=next The balkony walls are just texture, that's like so old. GTA San Andreas has them, and that game is what, 4 years old. Nowadays they are modelled, that's only graphicals thing right now what is bugging me.

But the dialogue, it's the shit and should be fixed.

And the "nerd rage" is a reference to the Fallout "community"?? It's not a reference to Brian Posehn?

Probably both. The "nerd rage" incident (also called "The SuperNerd Wars") was something that happened a few years ago because of a post on the Something Awful gaming forum, and involved SA and Penny Arcade trolls and Beth people against NMA. Nasty business, like mudcrabs.
