Fallout 3's Megaton safe from Japanese gamers

That whooshing sound some of you might have heard was Per's sarcasm zipping right over your heads.

[at least I think he was being sarcastic]

Posting sarcastic comments as news on the front page...Hmm yeah.

Regardless if he is being sarcastic or not (and if he was - that was a stupid move. Using sarcasm on the internet has always been a problem) it doesn't matter - Removing a nuke just because the Japanese might get pissy about it is so amazingly stupid I have no words for it.

Let's not offend anyone, people are emoshional about these things. People = emoshional beings.

That's why it's such a tough world out there. Where you have to hide your emoshions.

This censorship makes no sense. Censorship never does.

Aren't the Chinese offended because of Fallout's backstory? They are depicted as villains. Villains in a fictional setting! How rude is that?

Fat Man is the direct copy of Shadow Warrior's nuke launcher. In Shadow Warrior, when you fired that thing, your guy said "Just-a rike Hiroshima !".

Now I wonder how well Shadow Warrior did in Japan...

The Japanese are not used to shit being blown up in their own cultural output. They need to be eased into these things.
Black Rain
Graves for Fireflies
I'd say they've explored the consequences more than anyone else. And not in the perfunctory, superficial manner that FO3 does. Eased nothing, those films will rip ya up inside like nothing else on celluloid. I defy anyone to watch those movies and not cry like a little girl.
QFT. I think some people here need to grow some empathy. Lets start making light of 9/11 and see how the US's national outrage rises to the surface.

9/11 is insignificant as far as death tolls go and is nothing compared to the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki nor the firebombing of Tokyo. It just goes to show how fucking stupid, uptight, insecure, and fearful Americans are. That said, I agree with Cimmerian Nights.

As a proud American, I now have to challenge you to a duel. Meet me after school in the football field.

But they won't be able to get Burke's sunglasses!

What about Tenpenny Tower?

They should have renamed "Megaton" to "Hiroshima".

THAT would have been funny.

Hey now, I can appreciate the hypocrisy of political correctness and the irony of taking out the most-publicized quest in Fallout 3 as much as the next guy. But it's not cool to make light of Hiroshima. It and Nagasaki are among the greatest tragedies this world has ever seen. Nothing funny about it.

You're on! Now is that the real football field or the gridiron football field? :P To be fair, people of many countries fall into most of those categories so it isn't really specific to America, it's just that said qualities seem to be somewhat revered here.

LOL holocaust.

See? I wonder how many people i have just offended. And we can't have someone not happy. Not on the internet!

Of course, Bethesda is trying to make moar money by removing some "questionable" content in their opinion, but this is what makes it pretty retarded - "No, they won't buy a game just because it has a reference to Fat Man in it, but the fact that the whole thing is set in a destroyed post-nuclear war city should be fine with them, amirite?" I guess that's the downside of marketing to an "average gamer".

I guess, though it's nothing compared to the death tolls of natural disasters, entire wars, massacres, or disease. Good humor is good humor, no matter what the subject is and it doesn't demean the importance of any event.

Aye, having played a few different Japanese games (well it was all in Japanese so just random button mashing) there is a lot of weird shit IMO in those games.

And yeah, so much for only having one version of the game.

Will they censor the Chinese stuff in the game for the Chinese audience?

I wonder what happens if the cereberus grabs you in the land of the rising sun? *Gets vatted*

Uhh....I got nothing else.
