Fallout 4 – Vacationing in Nuka-World

I wonder how they handled console versions of Elite though, because you have a few more commands needed than buttons on a controller. I can only recommend the PC version because that's what I have, but I can say that a controller works very well (definitely better than mouse and keyboard alone) except you still have to have a couple keys bound to the keyboard. I think they even have a HOTAS system available for PS4 now so that is another option if you end up REALLY liking the game.

Still, they ported Wasteland 2 to consoles so I guess anything is possible. And the console version has good reviews.

I always prefer PC, but like I said, some games I get to my console if I can, just to let my rig live a few more years :D
I look at my PC in a kind of... it has the power it has to be able to play slightly older games at FULL power, while brand new, high demanding games goes to my PS
Boring, I know, but it's a compromise I can live with, especially after years of simply not playing anything newer than 2001

I was really impressed by the intensity of something as simple as landing (which I do have kind of a boner for, making simple things take a long time. I even commented on it to a friend, about NMS, that it took just a brief moment to enter the atmosphere and land on a planet, while I had envisioned a bit more of a procedure, like when entering Earth's atmosphere - you can't just dive in! I always liked "realism to a boringth degree" as I've pointed out in another thread. Compare Mount & Blade with Skyrim, for example, and guess which one I'm totally addicted to :D)
Based on this statement I think you will much prefer Elite. In its current state it is much better and has much more to do and if they keep developing it like they have been it's going to get much richer and better. Cheers.

It's either optimized incredibly well or it was programmed with black magic, because even my toaster laptop can run it at about 50 FPS on high settings.

If you like procedures then Elite is definitely for you; it's like a Space Trucking Sim. There's also a whole intrinsic political scene molded by players as well as a functional economy, which is a very nice touch to have in the background of my space truckin' tunes.

As mentioned, there's also some kind of story going on driven by the player community as if it were an actual event in an actual universe, which I like; however, given the way it works it's a lot easier for me to read it in the space newspaper than it is actually participating in it. Plus, it'd distract me from my hauls.

I like Elite and all, but it does have a few flaws; mainly, Frontier's DLC policy is absolutely atrocious.

I mean, yeah, I bought Horizons, but I wasn't happy about it.

Additionally, although it is an actual multiplayer game unlike NMS, it's still incredibly hard to find someone is this goddamn galaxy. It's a solid single player experience, but if you're planning to meet up with a pal it'd probably be best to plan the route a few days before.

I agree with this. I'm not trying to be fanboy but if you ask me which is better Elite or NMS the answer is objectively Elite Dangerous is better. I don't think that is even up for debate really. That doesn't mean Elite is the best game ever though - it has flaws and many people will find it boring. I find my tastes are similar to Yahtzee's.

About the Horizons DLC/expansion - when it was first released it had some ridiculous pricing thing where new players got both the base game and horizons but older players who already owned elite had to pay more. It received a lot of flak and now they changed the pricing so the base game of Elite is $30 and Horizons is another $30, so $60 for the current full game, which I think is reasonable.
Okay i hate it then.

anyway

I agree with this video - Nuka World is a "solid exit for Fallout" in that it is more stupidity piled on top of an already stupid and disappointing game. The franchise has officially been ruined and I'm probably doomed to becoming a grizzled old person still replaying New Vegas 30 years from now and rambling about how it was the last good Fallout game lol.

So wait, does this DLC force you to be a raider now? Way to miss the point of RPGs yet again, Bethesda.

Horizons was marketed as a 'season pass', meaning that Frontier meant it as more of a gateway into the various DLCs they would be adding rather than one itself. I don't know if it was a technical limitation or not, but Horizons was (and currently is) only sold as another product, a base game with the Horizons features on top of it. As such, old players couldn't just download the DLC; they had to buy the entire game again plus the price of the DLC itself.

I do understand that it has been fixed now, though. Still, stuff like having over 16 pages of paintjobs DLCs at £5.99 each strikes me as ridiculous.

I'd normally agree with you about this, but I have looked through the Frontier store and the only things I see are purely cosmetic - paintjobs and bobbleheads, so I am ok with this. And it's not being used to fluff up the expansion like with the ridiculous Fallout 4 Season Pass Workshop DLC, so that's a good thing - it's totally separate from the game or its expansions. I do think they should be releasing some of that stuff as free DLCs because it would add value to the game and build more goodwill among fans.

Euro Truck Simulator also has a lot of totally optional, cosmetic paid DLC. It would be nice if this sort of stuff was free like with Witcher and some other games, but since it is purely cosmetic it doesn't affect the game which is the important thing. Plus the devs of Euro Truck added a lot of updates and improvements to the game for free.

However, keep in mind Mankind Divided contains micro transactions to spoil things. Heaven forbid we're not fucking nickel and dimed.
I've seen the amusing comment a few times: "Mankind Divided is a game about a future run by corporate greed that contains singleplayer microtransactions..."

It really says something about Fallout 4's Season Pass when I consider it worse than Mankind Divided's microtransactions and single-use pre-order bonuses and other crap.

Well I'll put it this way: Fallout 4 has been much more demanding on my PC than Elite Dangerous. It uses twice as much of my GPU percentage-wise.
To be honest, Fallout 4 has been more demanding than every single one of my games, including open world, beautiful next gen titles like Mad Max, Witcher 3 or even Metal Gear V. I've simply never seen a game that much demanding. It's litteraly the only single game I have which I'm afraid to run during summer times, because I'm afraid it might overheat my components.

Truth is : is your rig can run Fallout 4, Elite Dangerous will run like a charm. By the way, give a shot to the Mad Max game, surprisingly, without making a fuss and without pretention, it succeeds where Fallout 4 failed.

I have elite for xbone, had it for around 6 months, they have a version of early access.

Anyway it runs quite well for console, controls arent that bad if you were used to playing rts and the like on consoles like I am...I had shit like starcraft 64 so the layouts arent impossible to get around.

It looks good, plays well too. The only uproar was with the Horizons expansion..people got mad as hell with the price so player numbers dropped..but xbox and pc do have cross play if I remember.

I can suggest picking it up for console users..its nice to play a multiplayer game where people dont shoot you on sight for the lolzzzzz
