Fallout 76 Really Sucks. People Act Shocked.

What I'm doing now, F2RP FTW!

 

I haven't played this since...January? February? I don't even know anymore. should I sacrifice myself for the betterment of the community on a first hand account or just lie and said I did it like any smart person would do?

 

Not worth it, we already know anything they do with the game is gonna be terrible. Because the game is fundamentally broken at its core.

 

I wouldn't mind if you could give me some details for an article. Of course I am not asking you to misspend your money so don't waste to much on this thing. I am not that desperate for information either.

And yeah Norzan, I know it will most likely will be crap but we are still a Fallout fan site so having some info might be nice.

 

As someone who hasn't played a Fallout game since New Vegas, watching these vids feels like seeing my favorite actor working as a birthday clown.

It is a Fallout fan site, but unfortunately, Bethesda acquiring the rights to the game permanently ripped the fandom in half.

 

Yes but based on rationality and logic. Remember now he didn't specifically say that YOU(!) or anyone else couldn't have fun with what they do or release. But after several years of Bethesda owning and working with the Fallout franchise it is pretty save to assume that what ever they release will be terrible and fundamentally broken.

 

If a game is designed to somehow take up a customer's time and money - either by giving them some sort of enjoyment/fun, or by forcefully addicting them - and it successfully accomplishes this, then is it logical to say that the game is objectively terrible and fundamentally broken?

I hate PUBG and Fortnite, but I can't say that it's a terrible and fundamentally broken game, despite the fact that I can't even say one positive thing about either game. Because the games make money and have fans, they have fulfilled their function. Likewise, with these updates, Fallout 76 hopes to gain more active players and more money.

If you're not a fan of Fallout 76 then it's safe to assume the updates won't make a difference to you. If you were on the fence about it then maybe the updates will sway you one way or another. But if you're trying to just follow the news, then these updates are relevant.

 

Since I am not really giving much of a fuck right now I hope you forgive me for this analogy :

If you give someone who loves to play with turds a polished turd and hey get some sort of enjoyment and fun out of playing with it is it objectively stinky?

 

You are comparing playing a video game (which is meant to be played with) to playing with bodily waste (which is meant to be excreted). The analogy is invalid.

A better one would be "If you smear a turd on a paint canvas, even if some people get some enjoyment out of it and pay to see it in art exhibit, is it objectively bad art?"

Don't answer that question. I'm not actually asking it. It's just a better analogy.

 

I am not going to answer any question because there can be none around the fact that F76 is a terrible and broken game.

Trolling aside, a Fallout fan was just asking for information about a Fallout game from other users on a Fallout forum so he can potentially write an article about it...no harm in that.

 

I tried giving FO76 a fair shot during the free weekend. I just couldn't get myself to keep playing it for longer than 10 hours. Constant server disconnects erased my progress over and over, the graphics looked like someone smeared vaseline on a camera, made my eyes hurt, quests were all boring and the combat was terrible with the terrible framerate and latency, sometimes enemies don't even react to getting killed. Can't imagine just putting more things to kill on the map will fix that, nor will putting more microtransactions.

Basically, console players access to Vault 94 isn't implemented yet. And Bethesda made a daily challenge to go and kill enemies in that Vault... Which they have no access to.

... Seems pretty broken to me.

 

I can't help but I get this image where someone is trying to stop a leakage using his fingers, tape and such but the moment he gets to stop one part leaking another one opens up. That sort of thing.

The game is such a mess and I always wonder what kind of mental state one must be in to defend it. This is beyond normal I mean.

 

Spend 10 minutes killing some robots with the awful server latency and unresponsive combat. I walk up to the quest marker to see if that bullshit was at least worth a Level up.... I start walking in place.... SERVER NOT RESPONDING, doesn't reconnect the whole night, maybe the server has flagged me either because I was on free weekend or the constant disconnects, I have a 100mbs connection, I login the next day, about 30 minutes of gameplay were lost.
Walk up to a weirdly empty lot of land, see an enemy out in the open, I try to snipe it but despite clearly getting clear shots the enemy doesn't get hurt. I walk up 3 more steps... an entire shed suddenly materializes. Same thing kept happening on Battle Royale mode, walls and bulletproof bushes just kept becoming visible while the actors behind them were clearly visible before them. My PC can run Final Fantasy XV on high, this game looks worse and it thinks my rig can't handle anything above low with really awkward actor fade settings, I try running it on medium, get a blue screen of death. 10/10 work there Beth.

 

What is impressive is that Bethesda knows about all the bugs found (because people report them to Bethesda), but instead of fixing those bugs, they go and make new content for the game. In particular Atom shop content.

I remember the Atom shop had some bug a while ago, and they fixed that one quite fast.

 

Of course, the Atom Shop gives them more money, it's not like you had to pay 60 dollars for the priviledge of accessing it, right?
