"Fallout: Between Good & Evil" announcement

A summary of screenshots I just sent to be posted at Vault of Mad Brahmin. You may use Google Translate for more new info about the project when the newspost once released in there.

Of course everything has been made via Czech version. We apologize :P

I have also been checking out this project from time to time to see if there is any life left but it has been quiet for some time now and there wasn't any activity on the forums for months.

I was looking forward to it, especially as they featured parts of Van Buren in it. RIP another big Fallout mod :(

Oh yeah, I remember this going on from a long time ago. How much of it was actually finished?

No, it's not happening. We've lost all programmers, then rest of the team and probably a huge piece of hope and passion.

I still find fascinating more and more people seems to respawn around the game and its modding community. Best luck then (you'll most definitely need it).

Around 2012-13 we finally started to think small and absolutely focused on st. called 'demo' or 'Chapter One' with 4-5 areas only, 1 cNPC and a couple of animations. That might cut some of the most interesting and creative BGE designs (written in the later era) off for tonns of years and there was obviously some controversy about tying the thing with potential 'Chapter Two+', but at least team had a strong focus and people (players) generally believed more.

That's of course something that should have happened in like 2006, when I got into the lead after former BGE leader (and starter) which was even more naive than me and rest of the squad. So I made some unpopular but racional decisions far later but it seemed to be just late, as we lost the support and momentum.

- Signatured Mr Lizard, BGE team leader between 2006 and 2013, and a fuck-up-responsible person to throw rotten tomatoes on.

Is it possible for you to put the design documents online?
I would really like to read what you had in mind for the game such as story, locations, factions etc.

What sux the most is that probably once again none of the assets will be released, no Jesterka?

I am especially thinking about the critters.

Btw. on a more negative thought, imo Mutants Rising is the only other Fallout 2 mod that has a realistic chance for getting released at some point in time. The simple truth is: We are all bad (lazy) writers, because if we wouldn't be, Fallout mods had been finished more often.

I hope to change that for myself in the future.
If you ever feel like teaming up with me again Lexx for a FNV mod, I am available.

Wouldn't Fallout 1.5 Resurrection have serious chances to be released too considering they just need to translate it in english for the interational playerbase ? I am also quite hopefull about Van Buren.

Otherwise, i looked around and downloaded a few mods that i believe are finished, but i haven't fully tested those. (many actual games that i have to try before those)
Those are 13V, Last Hope, Oblivion Lost, Shattered Destiny, Vault Rats, Wasterland Merc 1&2.

Currently, I don't even have a considerable piece of work available here, as it remained somewhere (in Karel's place)

EN version of Resurrection is practically sure, as it is something that can hardly stop a team successful enough to release the game itself (in Czech) after many years of development, no doubt about that. Remember my words correctly and be happy about, since it may be the best and most complete mod I've ever played (if I recall correctly - but I don't remember much, honestly).

I'm saying that after playing many mods in the past, including solid-made works as Ardent's Mod or MR demo (the second one, first one was nothing but a crap).

Yet again, and I've already claimed it like hundred times, BGE might have been already finished, or at least close to finish, if I had an appropriate programming (and maybe co-leading) support. Since I literally lived with this mod (what a fucking waste of precious time fo young people) and its plot, characters, designs, maps and texts, there was barely a problem with content and artistic aspect of the game. I guess it's still only mine fault I can't/didn't learn how to script, though.

But - there's not much things you can be really good at simultaneously. You always have to choose wisely and respect your talents. I mean good programmers here were barely a great designers/scripters and vice-versa. Someone remember Lich? Apparently a solid programmer or even mapper, but his writing was atrocious and legendary (in a bad way). On the other hand, I met plenty of good writers during my trail and one thing is pretty sure - no one of them would have touched some scripting editor or so.

I was never a technical oriented guy, really. A good leader, maybe. Probably a good writer, too. But even if I tried programming, I see myself to be a shitty programmer anyway. At least that's a dark predestination I believe in.

I thought Resurrection and Nevada *had* been released already, if just not in english yet.

What I always wanted to do was a very short Fo2 mod. Something like mini-chapters called "Fallout Stories". Short adventures (less rpg-y, because they usually wouldn't have much time for character progression) focusing on something different everytime. Sadly I (once again) lacked the creativity and motivation. Besides, I've lost interest in writing by myself since a long time and have yet been able to get back to it. Else my other Fo2 mod probably would have been finished by now (and working on it alone while being young... like Jesterka wrote, feels too much like a waste of precious time for me nowadays).

I think many modders get scared because they see a lot of work is required and they soon lose motivation because nobody encourages them (or does it in a wrong way).

But little by little you get closer to the finish line.

.

I would say those are released locally, not world wide, considering the very limited number of people that can understand them.
Beside that, according to this thread, Fallout Nevada english translation was abandoned.

We just have to wait for the final word from the developers, it makes little sense to build a game just for the Russian market.

Russian market is very, very big and active. There are exclusive Fallout games being developed only for Russian people as we speak. Most people don't know about them because of the language barrier. Same thing is true for China.

You mean Fallout mod ?
I doubt Beth or Interplay would publish games only for the russians.

Anyway, if it was in english, people would be able to understand it and translate in their own langage.
(or learn english as it is international langage. It would help a lot in other fields)

I don't think i will learn Russian just to understand & translate a mod.
