Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

I never played Fallout 1 or any other Fallout version, but i have Fallout 1 (english & german) and Fallout 3 Game of Year edition (my PC is much too slow for that) original games. I really like to play Fallout 1 improved by Fallout Fixt. But first I have a simple question. Fallout Fixt improved so much, but if check your link to bug reports, then I noticed, there seems still much do. Now I ask myself, is the Fallout 1 ready to play or too buggy and I should better wait another year?

Moin, you can play now. Over all FO1 is pretty well playable, no need to wait for a year.
 
Okay, so I have finished my third and final playthrough of Fallout 1 using the most recent version of Fallout Fixt. The ending had a LOT of bugs, so I'm just gonna do this:

After attempting an evil playthrough the following problems occurred:

On my previous Stupid playthrough I blew up the vats, then killed the Master. According to the ending, it said I killed the Master, then blew up the vats. This time I killed the Master before blowing up the vats and it said I blew up the vats before killing the Master.

​Despite letting the Necropolis die of thirst AND disabling invasions I still got the 'mutant invasion' ending.

After killing everyone in the Brotherhood of Steel I still got the good ending.

I took Bloody Mess to get the 'kill the overseer' part but after he walks away my character, holding a minigun, froze. Nothing happened but the Overseer stood in front of the vault doorway. Suddenly the vault door closed, my character pulled out a nonexistent pistol, and combat was initiated. I clicked on him, shot him, watched him somehow lose half his body to a pistol....then had to end my turn. Then the game crashed.

Runs perfectly on OS X GOG Fallout (with sfall and everything). For Mac users: you need to enable DirectX 9 mode in the hi_res config and then you should be able to run the game from the wine console (wineskin>advanced>tools, just use falloutw.exe from Fallout Fixt subfolder).

To run it using app icon you should clear any config settings from the wineskin>advanced>configuration tab. I removed everything from the "wine debug" box and set "auto-detect GPU" to "False", "override wine control" to "automatic" in wineskin>advanced>configuration>screen options (apparently this caused the problem(?)) Of course, you should also set falloutw.exe from Fallout Fixt subfolder as executable if you want to use the mod.

The economy is broken in F1 almost by default. There was so much to take from the Raiders Camp you needed an NPC purely as a mule, (a 0 AP non-combat mule if necessary). You could then take everything from Killian's store at 0 cost, (the F2 engine makes this easier).

Totally agree. But imho it cannot be fixed by modders without making the game ludicrously unrealistic like for example TES Oblivion, where you're able to buy a shiny new armor set for a price of several apples. Obviously, in post-war post-apocalyptic world food would cost as much as weapons and ammo would worth its weight in gold, but since you need no food and there are lots of well-armed guys in random encounters... Meh.

To be honest I was referring to
the scripts for using the Steal skill. In both F1 and F2 Steal detection is on a line-of-sight basis. IE if you have an NPC and you stand near Killian the NPC will be near by. You can then tell the NPC to leave the party and if he blocks Killian's line-of-sight you can just steal every item on Killian's desks with 100% immunity and a Steal skill of 0. The F2 engine should mean you can now push an NPC right next to Killian with no trouble. (In F2 you can do this with Metzger's fridge and room, Stark's desk, the downstairs room in the Mordino's club to get the Bullets magazine, etc. There seem to be some tough scripts in Buster's tent in F2 so maybe those can be applied to F1 Fixt.

Edit - Or maybe it was because he said he wont update fixt for a few months, staff got angry thus he was banned. ;)

Okay, I must be old or slow or probably both and maybe I am just not getting the irony here.
 
Well, now that I look at it a bit more, Sduibek's name color was changed from yellow to green fairly recently (a few months ago). I'm sure that "Banned" was just a custom title for him, even if only for a few days. Look at Felipefpl's title and you'll understand. If he's really banned, however, hopefully he'll register again when he's done with his things (he did say he'll be off until end of summer).
 
"Banned"' is Sduibek's custom title to fool people.

True, but he has no active avatar either. That usually gets memory wiped when someone is banned. Not to mention his page mentions he hasn't even looked at the site through that account for awhile.
 
He probably asked the mods to bann him so that he could focus on his shcool work instead of the mod. It can sometimes be very difficult to focus on your studies when other things picks your intrest.
 
I was messaging back and forth with Sduibek in July about working on revised perks/traits for Fixt, and he mentioned that he would be mia for a few months because he has personal things to take care of. No mystery really.
 
Selecting Tycho's default appearance and weapons leads to custom appearance. (tested several times with the installer) Is there a solution around it which can be done through my end? :razz:

UPDATE. Renaming Tycho's FRM files within the vanilla critter folder identical to Tycho (green) FRMs provided by Fixt.

I simply want to point out HMTYCLHK.FRM along Tycho's animations displays an NPC with hair.

Got Tycho's default appearance working! :) I'd be more than happy to send you the files via PM.
(solely missing the flame thrower animation for the default / expect the lower apparel to turn green if ever fired)

Disabling ultimate start weapon (flamethrower and laser pistol)

I have installed fallout 1.0 (GOG) and last 0.81 alpha fixt fixes only. Max Stone has flamethrower with start weapons. Custom created person has laser pistol with start weapons. I didn't find any option in the list of fixt custom fixes to disable ultimate start weapon. I have read this thread from page 141 which contains discuss about flamethrower as start weapon in 0.7 alpha and meaning about fixing this issue. But 0.81 alpha fixt fixes still starts the game with ultimate weapon (like flamethrower for Max Stone or laser pistol for custom created person).

How can I disable this feature instead of throwing ultimate weapon near the vault's door?

I have created a custom person few minutes ago (name "st411ar", age 30, stats 7-9-9-2-9-9-2, traits "gifted" and "fast shot", skills "small guns", "big guns" and "energy weapon"). The person has both flamethrower and laser weapon.

So is the newest version playable? Last version I got, the first reply to the update was a bug report. :P There were too many minor details which were getting bugged now and then. While it's supposed to be getting major details remade and then updating minor ones.

You could have these weapons because you wouldn't have stats or ammo. It's cool. Fallout is now 18 years old. Get over it. (Or you could customize your setup).

30 sep 2017 should be the date of an official Fallout:FIXT. Make it purist, custom or modified. Beta on 22 apr 2017. :)
