Fallout 1 mod Fallout Fixt - next release will be some time in Jan 2020

What does everyone think of how Mrs Stapleton's new barter code is working? Do new books get generated fast enough, etc.

Hey hey, I finally got my data back from my crashed desktop's RAID0 array! Now I can get the old scripts from it.

They sent it back on an external HDD that's 300GB, so hey at least I got a "free" drive out of it :D

This is what two thousand US dollars looks like:

Should I install FIXT into my general fallout directory or perhaps the DATA folder within the fallout directory? The default location the installer sets is outside of the fallout folder all together.

Thanks for the great mod, heard alot of good things about it

It cost you $2000 to retrieve your data...ooch that hurts.
Ironically, last week I dropped a 3.5" drive onto my laptop, which caused the head on the laptop drive to jump and scratch the surface of the plates. I'm just like Hard Drive Destroyer this year apparently.

And yeah, the money sucks. But it's just money, I try to always keep that in mind.

Well the installer creates the directory structure, so just point it at wherever you want Fallout FIXT to be run from, such as perhaps

C:\Games\Fallout
or
E:\Games\Fallout FIXT

and the rest of the folders will be created. The main Fallout folder won't get a lot of stuff added to it, just the .exe is overwritten and a couple dll files and a couple .cfg files. The vast majority of stuff is in the Data folder (which is a sub-directory of the main Fallout directory).

I assume most people are just installing it over their already-existing Fallout directory -- but if not, you need to copy over Master.dat and Critter.dat from that directory to where you want Fallout FIXT run from.
And that's my official, way-too-long answer!

P.S. your username is legend.

Tried your mod for the first time today and, sadly, noticed a change/bug fairly quickly- normally there is a random encounter with Duc The Wandering Merchant. You can trade with him and have him take you to Shady Sands. With your patch installed, you can trade but not tag along to Shady Sands, sad face. . .

Seriously? Damn, I never changed that on purpose, not sure how it broke :o

Thanks for reporting it, I shall fix.

I'm in the process of getting some examples of my mod's stuff up on YouTube, any requests?

I especially made an account here for this - how do I apply the 4.1 patch? Where do I place the extracted zip file and run the bat file?

Thanks. Looking forward to trying this out.

I'd love to see screen vids of anything you want to show ... but I'm wondering what the videos would show that the screen shots cannot. I.e., it might not be worth your time, unless you just want to do it for fun - and so we can have fun watching the play-through. :-)

p.s. I'll be curious to know what screen vid software you end up using. -m

What I have so far is pretty plain, just showing new Irwin stuff:

Well cool, thanks!

Extract it into the Fallout/FalloutFIXT folder, basically just copy those files on top of the stuff you installed using the installer.

From the .txt file in the 4.1 zip file:
--INSTALLATION--

Extract all files from DATA folder into your Fallout FIXT directory

Click on YES or REPLACE when asked to overwrite, this must be done with ALL files when prompted

Run Install.bat from your Fallout FIXT directory

Run 32-bit OS.bat or 64-bit OS.bat as usual to play the game!
:)

Okay; I've officially watched the video and made the first comment. :-) Good video; just not so sure about having "fuck up..." displayed in the savegame list ... lol

That's a save that was sent to me. He was fed up with a major bug that I hadn't fixed (was Alpha 3)

Most likely there is an error in the dialogue file.
Yes, my error.

EDIT: Or as i've started saying in real life, after the robots from Fallout 3, "ERR-OR! ERR-OR!"
