Fallout 2 mod Fallout: Nevada (extended)

I found a way to make it work on mac using crossover: install the gog version for PC on a crossover window bottle. Exploring the C:drive, manually delete the Patch000.dat file, install the nevada.exe after deleting the subfolder name so that it installs directly in the fallout 2 folder.

However, while I should practice my Russian (god it is a beautiful language), I couldn't get to have the English version even after selecting English during Nevada install...

During installation:



If an error occurs during installation, remove patch000.dat (file, not folder!) manually
If there is still no English after installation:
Go to the folder"..\data\ " and copy art, sounds, text, premade, and move it to a folder ..\patch000.dat\

and... Please wait a bit, the current version of the game with English translation (installer) will be ready soon.
 
Worked perfectly after i moved the folders you named, thanks! I get the fallout 2 pre-made characters when starting a new game, is it intentional for the english version or due to the way I moved folders around?

So sad my saves from Crazy Edition couldn't work on this one... 4-5 days of playing non-stop!

  • Originals, Crazy & Fixed edition - no compatibility. Fallout - severe.
  • These are ready-made characters, for FN.
  • Important! be sure to update to new version (Release coming soon. Fixed problem with endings).
 
Game seems to work, in english. But I am unable to save. Is this due to the fact that there is no more patch000.dat file but only a folder? Or the way I copied folders from the folder ..\data\ to folder ..\patch000.dat\ ?
 
Something wrong (only this folders - English translation). So, ok. Let's try this:
problems:
  • During installation patch000.dat - delete manually.
  • After install - patch000.dat\proto - "read only".
  • Open ddraw.ini - ConfigFile=config.cfg - replace on ;ConfigFile=config.cfg
  • if it doesn’t help:
  • Move the contents of the patch001.dat folder to patch000.dat.
  • Rename Patch000.dat to data.

After doing these steps

I had a crash after the first image when loading game

After doing this step
  • Move the contents of the patch001.dat folder to patch000.dat.
Couldn't save game

After this step
  • Rename Patch000.dat to data.

I have 2 data folders in directory and it was loading Fallout 2 video and the temple map as if I was starting a fallout 2 game.
 
Hi I downloaded the latest version of Fallout Nevada English fix edition and installed it into a sub folder in my Fallout 2 folder I'm having the same problem as 25 year old none when I startup the game (I'm on Windows 10 64 bit btw) the movies play and when I get to the main menu the screen is black and I can hear music but I can't see anything and I have to press esc and the game closes to the desktop. Does this mod have to be installed directly into the fallout 2 folder or can it be in a sub folder? Also the game asks for the fallout 2.exe so I take it from the Fallout 2 folder and stick it inside the Fallout Nevada folder but the game still won't work.
 
Firstly, thanks for the excellent work. Great mod.

I'm getting CTD errors near end game, after starting the train (after dealing with reaper and clones) to return back to the main map. It first occurred with 2.0.3 but I still get it after upgrading to 2.0.3.1

The game has worked fine up this this point. I've reached character level 21.

(I got a similar error in my playthrough of version 1.00, but earlier, on exiting the base at the point where the reaper cinematic should play)

Yes it needs to installed directly into fallout 2 directory, without subfolder. Look at Pyran's screeengrab pictures in earlier posts he explains how to install

Fallout2.exe - no need. Hi-res - directx9 or basic mode. It works both in the folder and in the subfolder method.

Version 1.00 is deprecated. Patch 1.02 is required. Then, the save can be compatible, but not 100%. Error - give me save, if error occurs on version 2.0.x

There are 2 installation methods. Both methods work correctly.

This is a save from a run started from the beginning in a fresh 203 install, later updated to 2031. The error occurs right after selecting '1 start turbine'.

(I did not continue using the previous 1.00 install after having that problem. I only mentioned it because it may be a similar issue)

Installation method:
  • You'll need original Fallout 2 to play. Install it beforehand.
  • Run Fallout: Nevada (Fixed mod) installer. Follow the instructions.
Default installation goes into a subfolder and doesn't overwrite the original! For example, the path should look like C:\Games\Fallout 2\MOD\. To install directly into the game directory, overwriting the original game, please, change the path and enable checkbox "Root directory mode".

Thank you. I noticed errors, probably related to the translation, in dialogue choices when talking to the WoW commander, and these ended up in the quest list.

I suspect that my CTD error may be related to translation scripting as well, as I assume there is a forced cutscene at the end of the train's return. Should I try installing the mod as Russian, to see if the game progresses past this error point?

Is it normal that the installer is all gibberish and not in english? also with this version i can't choose the appearance of the PC anymore but in the old version i could

Seriously? The installer is supposed to detect the language of your system. I guess it doesn't.
Appearance mod is removed, i actually don't know why, but I think it's because the sprites of main characters in Nevada were remade, and appearance mod just makes them vaulty-13 again. Not my decision, but I kinda support it.

We'll see what we can do on the first matter though.

if it was removed, why is there still an appearance folder in the main files? lol
