Fallout: New Vegas Patch 1.3 released for PC

Edit: I'm guessing the Primm A.I changes have something to do with them sometimes attacking EDE for no reason.

Did EDE carry any edibles at the time?
Its an old problem, apparently EDE is identified as a 'critter' and NPCs turn hostile to it when they are 'hungry'.

5mm -25 DT for AP ammo and -10 for normal ones?! You are kidding me, right? Shocked

Assault Carbine is the new ruler?

Well, the -10DT of the normal ammo isn't a big deal as it looks because the base damage of the Assault Carbine is relatively low. The AP ammo though... Finally there will be a reason to use the minigun. :D

You know, I always use the Minigun with AP ammo to clean Quarry Junction, usually I do it between levels 16 to 18.
Never had a problem with the old ammo and it kills them fast.
In Hoover Dam Avenger with AP ammo kill Centurions in a matter of seconds, it's like using a hot knife to cut trough butter.
Also, Assault Carbine is the gun class that approaches more closelly the effectiveness of Laser RCW regarding killing Cazadors, it's very good against them.

The weapon suffers a lot againts heavelly armored enemies, but against Legion patrols, Decanus, all type of Geckos, Nightstalkers, all Ghouls except Reavers and any enemy not wearing an armor above DT 15 it owns them pretty easily.
I do not understand why the changes in ammo.

I downloaded the patch and installed, but I'm at the moment in Sierra Madre, so I cannot test the changes properlly (grenades are rulling Ghost People, this I can testify with my 40 points in explosives).
Let's see what they did after returning to the Mojave.

I do not understand why the changes in ammo.

The standard ammo had to be beefed up. The assault Carbine is supposed to be a mid tier weapon but before it wasn't THAT better compared to the first two automatic guns you can find.

Couple questions.

Ranger Sequoia - Sight FOV decreased from 55 to 45

Does this mean it'll now work properly in VATS? Nothing's more annoying than missing a head-shot at point-blank range.

Also, how is That Gun faring? Is it a fairly decent mid-level weapon now?

Comparing the stats on the Vault it looks like that. The .44 magnum deals a bit more damage (+6 per shot) but That Gun shoots and reload way faster, has a way higher crit multiplier (which makes up for the lack of normal damage) and can be loaded with AP ammo. So yeah, much much better. :D

Well its nice that they increased the availability of weapon modifiers. Those things had been hard to get.

I'm currently at level 22, wearing Sierra Madre reinforced light armor with Light Touch perk, Sierra Madre reinforced helmet, sub dermal armor and two levels of Thoughness, wich results in 33 DT. The weapon modifications really maded light armor "light" again, I cannot be critically hit, but Powder Gangers and Nightkins are really dangerous now if they are using guns.
Before the patch you could frontal assault an enemy equipped with a LMG, one Nightkin in Black Mountain reduced my HP in half because he was equipped with one and I make the mistake to rush to him (and I was using Med-X).

Dynamite, grenades, mines and powder charges make a huge mess, the Light Machine Gun finally is usable (let's be honest, the spread in the weapon never made much sense), the Service Rifle with custom springs became a really good weapon to be used (you don't wonder anymore how NCR soldiers have survived their battles with that piece of crap the rifle was) and 9mm/.22LR weapons are very usefull.

This also means that enemies became more deadly again, even if you are at higer levels.
As mentioned, Powder Gangers use dynamite against you and they are really powerfull now, enemies using 9mm pistols can hurt you really bad, the Vipers now use grenade launchers, wich can dispatch you in no time and Fiends equiped with Caravan Shotguns are also a treath because the modifiers in the weapon.

And those Centurions with Chainsaws and Thermic Lances are really dangerous now.
I was hitted by a thermic lance and the thing made a strike on me, my limbs crippled in no time and my health goes to space.

Nah, That Gun wasn't very good. It was better than other generic handguns, but not good enough for me to keep it.

I was never impressed with That Gun, buy it one time and one time only.

Need to test it again.

I never paid money for it. :D It's just too easy to steal it instead.

Combined with the appropriate ammo and the Cowboy perk, That Gun is a great weapon.

Yeah, now it almost rivals the Mysterious Magnum, a huge step forward. Maybe it's even too good now considering how easy it is to acquire it. :o

Marcus has something of worth to steal?

I never steal directly from NPCs inventory. Only stuff that is somehow in the surroundings.

In the quest Unfriendly Persuaition you can lie to him and steal 3.000 caps.

BTW, It's official and I'm very sad to be the one bringing the news: CAZADORS WERE NERFED! :(
Remeber when you see an Cazador and need to do everything to prevent them getting close, otherwise you would be stinged? The rush of fear?
Not anymore.

This is lame, very lame Obsidian. :?

That is indeed not a positive. Dumbing the game down in patches. We don't need no nerfing, Obsidian, the game's easy enough.
