Fallout: New Vegas screenshots

Too brown? It is a desert after all. A post apocalyptic desert. You know, it's full of sand and dirt.

Yeah, but umm.... That stuff on the bot looks a lot like rubber. Why is even the rubber so brown?

I don't know, maybe I'm just sick of everything in Fallout 3 being either brown or gray. I just want a little more color variations, you know. That robot for example would look wicked with a washed out red Nuka-Cola or NCR paintjob. It's New Vegas! It's about time to give us some color.

(shut up about FO3 not being canon)

Oh, I never said that. I only said that if we look at what's IN FO3 canon, then pretty much ANYTHING could be considered as such.

They all consist of single player character RPGs with very detailed storylines

FO3 is an FPS with a shitty storyline :P /me trolling

Don't call me a troll because I like to talk about my opinion.

It's hard to think you're not when you said: "along with the classic "I HAVE to hate it because I like FO1 and 2" reason causes you to hate New Vegas, you are not a true Fallout fan. Fallout games are like children, some you like more than others (don't lie, its true), but in the end you should love them all equally, even if they rebel against the norm (Fallout 3, obviously lol)".

So you're either trolling, or are one of those "I like this game so you HAVE TO like it too" people. Cause otherwise that statement makes not the least bit of sense.

-------------------------

So about the bots, I pretty much hate them to. I love the idea, but hate the execution. The textures used look off with everything else in the screenshot, the design is too simplistic, the face looks to be pasted on the outside while it should appear IN the screen, the buttons are f'cking horrendous, the wheel looks bad, etc. In short, looks like a hackjob from whoever modeled the thing. And the absence of shadows only makes all these flaws stand out where they could be hidden.

Why not?

While the modified FEV is not canon (in the game FEV is never mentioned at all, Attis was looking for a 'cure' for sterilization caused by mutation), the Vault Tec secret Vault is a lot better than any of the locations in Bethesda's Fallout 3.

Well, it's not part of the official canon ever since Beth said it's not. And while the main idea behind the story might have been better than FO3's, the execution was shittier.

That I agree with Ausir,

The game had the potential as a nice in between story between Fallout 1 and 2, telling us what happened with some of the Master's Super Mutant forces and some more background on Vault Tec and their own plans for survival.

But the game itself is badly executed due to numerous reasons, amongst the bad choice of music, the dialog in various places, the looks of characters, and so on.

Still I like some elements that I feel do not conflict with Fallout lore, or at least not to much.

Edit:

Worst of all of course is that Van Buren got canceled in favor of FOBOS.

Rubber comes in all colours, infact I made a robot years back with rubber wheels about that color (more saturated though). I'm with you that some colour variation isn't a bad thing but I think that your color scheme isn't dirty enough.

Ah, topic change?

Well... ummm... Those robots are too brown. I think they should be more like this:

I think, the problem is not the brown alone, but the lack of real contrast in that whole screenshot.

Hey!

If you don't need to bleach our eyes out from all the brownish monotones, you're not playing a modern FPS (or FPSRPG).

Well it's not that black and white really, you can pull off grey urban and desert landscapes without completely killing off colours and shadows.

I have my fancy set on BC 2 at the moment and i think it does a great job at creating interesting visuals.

Fuck the timeline. The world is in a post-nuclear setting and that's all I really wanna know.

You know, no one can truly say what's canon and what's not. Just because someone thinks this game sucks or that game doesn't, doesn't define canon. In the end of the day, it usually all ends up being a complete jigsaw clusterfuck of an entangled mess, so just leave it as it is and get on with your life.

just for the love of god please come up with a complete canon guide so we can stop this arguement once and for all! I'll even make one if I have to, if it will make all these picky Fallout "fans" shut up.

Chill man.

There's the "Fallout Bible". There isn't anything specific after that. I doubt Beth would ever come up with a guide like that, because a) according to interviews apparently their design approach sums up to something like "put random shit together", and b) most of their target audience doesn't read.

You could write something, would be interesting to read, but even if it's accepted by the majority of people interested, it'd still not be canon. Fanon maybe. Otherwise it'd be a fanfic, let's just hope there's no gay sex in it though

But frankly, how important is "canon" really anyway? Canon is whatever the gaming company says it is, so it can change anytime. If Beth makes a game about killer tomatos in FO universe tomorrow, they can declare it canon. They have done similarly ridiculous things in FO3 already anyway. So as is, different fans will argue about this stuff non-stop and never agree on anything, that's how this stuff usually works...

Please don't give them any ideas.

Tho I do like the Killer Tomatoes.

Bethesda can, and for a goodly part has. It's their franchise.

True, but canon is still a shifting concept. What's canon today, can be non-canon tomorrow and vice-versa. 5 years ago Fallout 2 was canon, a year back Fallout 3 was canon, soon New Vegas would certainly retcon and change some of the things we think we know. For all we know, today's canon is tomorrow's Fallout:PoS.

Didn't you hear? The DLC is already in the making, complete with a perk that lets you shoot laser beams out of your eyes, and tomato-flavoured stimpacks!
