Fallout: NV2 rumours (DEBUNKED, TOTAL BULLSHIT)

Kotaku is calling a site out for spreading false rumours? Is it opposite day already?

Kotaku is one of my daily sites despite their nonsense. They do have the occasional good article. Plus I get my Sunday comics there.

Ha! Bethesda don't want to be upstaged by Obsidian again. What do you want? A good game?

Can I just recommend Underrail and leave? Play Underrail instead. *leaves*

To be honest I felt that underrail is a poorly developed game. I say that because it over relies on players "restarting" with their character to obtain balance within the game. Plus all the darn walking, why so much walking?

It's not fair to say that. You should just go on with it instead of restarting to 'obtain balance', since the game were meant to be played on focused character (min-maxed), and hybrid is a no-no for first playthrough. Hell, Underrail is my first (!) cRPG ever and I just rolled with my first character despite of fucking up the build. Managed to finish it anyway.

The walking was meant to evoke the feelings and atmosphere of exploring the world of Underrail, the metros, the caves, the abandoned facilities.... but yeah, no out-of-combat running feature is the only unfortunate part of the game and many had already criticized Styg for it. But hey! It's a new engine build by Styg alone (!) from scratch (!) so hopefully he would add running functionality to the engine with future patches (or new projects, maybe...).

In the meantime, to solve this 'problem' I suggest play lightly-armored character for first playthrough, craft/buy Tabi Boots, or just use Cheat Engine altogether, whatever floats your boat.

And Age of Decadence.

I don't really want a "NV2", I'd like a game set somewhere else in the west coast...Alaska maybe?

Ahh well...

Can't say I agree. Building the engine from scratch alone took some talent. The depth of the systems alone shows how well designed the game is.

I agree that the development of the game took some talent, however there are glaring issues with negative possibility space as well obvious moments where the game falls apart. From my multiple play throughs I noticed the need to grind as well noticeable issues in combat that put players up against enemies that could not be killed or even remotely hurt fairly early in the game.

Take the rat king for example, this "boss" fight literally cheats the player, as once you deal so much damage the rat king becomes almost impossible to kill, plus the fact that he has assistance from the alpha. I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed that the rat king will "get back up" after deal a good amount of damage with a whole new batch of attributes and skills.

I had to restart with my character about 8 times before I actually beat that rat king, and he isn't really one of the main bosses.

I don't want to read all this thread and get false hopes, so someone please tell me. This is a hoax, right?

You don't really need to grind. Use Oddity system and completely eliminate any possibility to grind (unless you're really desperate to level up and the only oddities you can access is from enemy corpses) Hell, scrap that, I played with Classic system and by Junkyard I probably overleveled, though maybe it's just because I'm using Assault Rifle Juggernaut build. And enemies that couldn't be killed or even hurt in early game just means you're not ready to take on them for now, so do something else in the meantime. If you're talking about Depot A, it's kind of a litmus for whether or not you've properly build your character (putting enough points into offensive skills to make every ammo/bolts you fired hit, enough stealth points to reduce the rate at which enemy detection increase, enough lockpicking/hacking to get to the item you're looking for etc etc).

There are multiple ways to deal with him. You can
  1. Set up a truce between him and Camp Hathor, provided you have enough points in Persuasion. Oh, and most importantly don't shoot first and approach him the first time you meet him
  2. After your conversation with him, and provided you didn't piss him off, you can return to Camp Hathor and ask for Edgar's assistance if you still want to kill him.

If we ever do get another Obsidian Fallout, it'll be called New Vegas 2 until we get a proper title. Just because it's the second Obsidian game and story-wise will follow up on the West Coast factions which haven't been seen since New Vegas. So when stuff like this pops up, don't get too concerned by "NV2". It's just a placeholder.

~~~clickbait ensnares NMA community~~~
In a more serious tone, I thought we came to the general conclusion that Fallout 4's engine can barely be tweaked - all the mods out for it barely make it a proper RPG. The four choice dialog wheel is apparently hard-as-bedrock-code, no real way to bring back skill checks and skills and perks and karma and reputation, right? That the radiant AI is also barely changeable?The engine is abysmal to anything but a 'ARPG'.
Thus, even Oblivion would be hard pressed to crank out something good on the Creation Engine, making any real attempt to make a RPG out of 4 like NV was to 3 a shitty hill to die on....
Don't they use president names as codenames for their project ?
Let's call it Trump. I am sure it won't confuse anyone.
Who needs dialogue anyway when I can attach teddy bear sloths to my pants and shoot bowling balls out of my gun?
skill checks
Who needs skill checks when I can use the more authentic, RNG based charisma checks? Charisma checks enhance my rp, because noone irl is that good with the females.
Yeah but NV didn't even have a cool and fun perk chart that I could hang up in my settlements.
reputation
Was a dumb idea, I shouldn't be judged by people just because the choices I make affect those people. At most it should affect quest rewards and companion reactions to be a proper RPG - anything more is pure pretentious crap made to appease fags that like "repeat playthroughs."
radiant AI is also barely changeable
Yeah well deathclaws in F4 are far cooler than their NV counterparts. So AI != an argument.
making any real attempt to make a RPG out of 4
I agree it's sad that we'll never again experience an RPG that is as good as F4. Bethesda were pretty dumb making such a polished game that nothing that comes after it could ever live up to the greatness that it was.
Couldn't they just create a postapocalyptic new IP that is basically Fallout but with everything trademarked removed, and then someone magically finds a mod online that replaces all the right words, edits graphics and changes character's names to the obvious Fallout ones. Like, changing supersyringe for stimpack, spot for dogmeat, emperor for Caesar.
Just daydreaming.
