Fallout: NV2 rumours (DEBUNKED, TOTAL BULLSHIT)

Yeah but why would they want to when they can just make their own stuff?

I think that while the people at Obsidian love Fallout and would certainly love to work on it again, they don't really have an interest in making some kind of Pepsi to Fallout's Coke. They'd rather do their own thing and play with Fallout again when they get the chance.
 
Why would you want yet another Dogmeat ? There is already like 30 of them as companions...

Couldn't they just create a postapocalyptic new IP that is basically Fallout but with everything trademarked removed, and then someone magically finds a mod online that replaces all the right words, edits graphics and changes character's names to the obvious Fallout ones. Like, changing supersyringe for stimpack, spot for dogmeat, emperor for Caesar.

Just daydreaming.

Oblivion can make their own post apoc or post-post apoc game, sure. At this rate, powered armor, a USA-China war, underground survival shelters, and the like is expected; not something unique or trademarked.

From my limited testing before I abandoned FO4 I found that you can have the game check any of your attributes to enable or disable a dialogue option, so I imagine with enough time and patience you could replicate the NV style pass/fail dialogue "skill" check, but it'd be much more difficult than it used to be. The "face button" dialogue is permanent, though, and if you have less than four options it will still display all four but some will be blank.

Another solution is to try to find a way to use the "interact" interface rather than the dialogue wheel (like when you fix the USS Constitution), because it behaves more like a traditional dialogue interface, but none of this would be necessary if competent people made the game.

Fallout 3 is Oblivion with guns.

Hence Obsidian and Oblivion mean extremely different things, especially here, on NMA.

They did that. They called it Fallout instead of Wasteland.

Actually, there is a Pen and Paper RPG which basically did exactly the same as that. Before Bethesda brought the license, there was a project called D20 Fallout underway, but after Bethesda acquired it, the company that made it basically kept everything about it the same, and relabelled it as "Exodus"

If you ever look through the rule-books to Exodus, you'll see some hilarious shit like "Ghuls", "Trans-Genetic Mutants", "Disciples of Steel" and "Shelter Dwellers"
 
If Obsidian were to make their own Post Apocalyptic series I would rather have them do something new instead of just aping Fallout.

There's so much which can be done. The guy who made Original Xcom is making his own turn based tactics game set on Earth after it was taken over, post-apoc yet optimistic. Obsidian should do something akin.
 
NV is my favorite game of all time.

That said, Obsidian does not have the minimum condition to make a spinout of Fallout 4 that is good.

Do you guys honestly believe that if it did happen (wich will not), Bethesda would let Obs take away many of the things that make Fallout 4 so horrible? We all know are I´m taking about, replace real comunities for settlement building, dialogue wheel, magic weapons that shoot 2 bullets, nuka-rad-glowing-mutated-legendary-king-giant Raider, and bla bla bla bla.

And even if they could cut these things, would they? Fallout franchise dont die, is strong then never. Jesus, Fallout 4 made more money then Skyrim.

That 'thing' you called Fallout 4 is not a Fallout game, but rather a fucking TES game using Fallout skin as a disguise.

And do you have a source that confirm Fallout 4 made more money than Skyrim? Because we all know interest in Fallout 4 dwindled at an extremely rapid rate, especially seeing how even modders are disgusted with Fallout 4 and, instead, went back to Skyrim and New Vegas.

According to this, Skyrim:

1.4 billion revenue. Apparently 84 million cost. So that's around 1.32 billion profit.

Fallout 4 revenue and profit and cost is MUCH harder to find off the bat. '750,000,000' in the first day or week with 12 million copies sold comes up a lot. I'm going to say the cost was around 90-100 million. So it probably paid for itself back six times over, but if it didn't hit the billion mark, then maybe, maybe, Bethesda might take a look at what to improve.

no not Alaska the fuck is wrong with you? best course is have it be set in Wyoming in the "kahns build an empire in Wyoming" ending. because that ending is obtainable regardless of what faction you chose in NV. also a NV2? the same location? hello jack cabot and alien cities. fuck that. can we please just kill this franchise off already?
