Fallout- Old Glory

Biest wasn't able to understand Edward or Jacob because they talked a bit fast for him and about things he knew nothing about. They also used words he didn't know. The Raiders talked not to him and he had to catch the meaning of their talk on his own. It was a slow way to lear as he had very little to work with. He knew some commands they used with their dogs and saw how the dogs reacted to them. He also caught the name of a couple objects. The one thing he figured out by the sound of the words and the way they acted was they didn't like him.
From Arianna he caught something different. She too used too many unknown words to make sense but Biest sensed some sympathy from her. About the argument between her and the two men it looked to the boy that she tried to protect him like he hoped. Then another two legged being arrived. Biest didn't like that very much but realizing this on had a second fur just like the female he eyed him curiously and tried to figure out if it meant he might be friendly too.
A lot of attention shifted to the new two legged. Sensing it Biest crouched down and turned to his prize while keeping a careful eye on all the strange two legged animals. From time to time a snap or crunchy sound was hearable as he devoured the iguana and his teeth made short work of some of it's bones to reach every tasty morsel of meat on it.

He was careful too not to touch Arianna with the long spikes on the outside of his chain collar. At first he just hated and fought it. As the Raiders kept a chain on it the collar narrowed every time the pulled on it and a second barely visible set of short blunt dug painfully into his neck. With the fights the Raiders forced on him Biest quickly learned the big advantage of the collar. It protected his throat against the bites of his enemies and helped him survived. By now he had accepted the collar and barely felt it anymore.

Ari saw from the corner of her eye, the child begin to tear into the Iguanna, much like a dog would devour a bone. He seemed to trust her; something that simultaniously touched her heart and darkened it. She didn't feel worthy of trust, but nobody else was going to advocate for him. She made a mental note to check his injured leg, but shoved these thoughts in the back of her mind; she needed to stay focused on the new arival. She watched him, very very carefully, as she awaited his response, hoping...praying, that he wasn't Enclave, that he wasn't hunting her down. She doubted very much a scientist *would* be hunting her, but if he recognized her, he wouldn't hesitate to either expose or kill her.Not if he wasn't a deserter like her, anyway.

Having looking bewildered at the picture; Chameleon put it away and stepped away from the strange child.
'Damn it,' He thought. 'Being him half a beast, I would've thought he knew this dog. But of course, she is long gone.' Remembering Bitchslap was part of the memories stored with the photo. Bitchslap was a dog that belonged to one of his old lovers. He remembered making the promise to find her. He knew this because it was written on the back of the photo. And where best to look than one who runs with the dogs? 'Indeed.' The voice said.

He noticed the new guy approc and ask of their health. Then the girl lifted he gun.
'That girl. Is she affecting right now?' The voice asked.
'No. Phase 1 is still intact. Probably won't happen unless I get in deep.' He replied.
"Hey err, Ari girl. You don't wanna shoot this guy. Trust him, he's a doctor." He was amused, it's not everyday he would see a woman turn a man to goo. But then again, it wasn't every-day that the same woman turned his own mind to water. At least, it had felt like that.

Ari gave Chamelion a sideways glance. She found the man intriguing; she wished she could see into his eyes but that damned face-plate was in the way. She almost laughed bitterly at his words.

"You think just because he's a doctor he is trustworthy?" She couldn't quite keep the sarcasm from her voice. "I could tell you some stories about doctors that would make your skin crawl...". She didn't add that she could tell stories about herself that would make his skin crawl--but she did think it. She turned her attention back to the newcommer, not relaxing her grip on her weapon. Maybe she was being paranoid, PROBABLY she was being paranoid, but when you were an ex-enclave scientist prodigy on the run...well, a little paranoia kept you alive.

Jacob decided that enough was enough after the newcomer mentioned the job. "Put the gun down Laher." Jacob commanded, doing his best to exude and air of authority to try and cut off a bad situation before it started. He didn't need Laher getting shot up. He turned to the newcomer, shifting his armor into a slightly more comfortable position as he did so. "If you want to talk about the job, I'm sure Mr. Stone wouldn't mind the extra bodyguard." Jacob said. Now that he knew the man was interested in joining the group, Jacob was decidedly less suspicious. If he could tolerate Chameleon, he could tolerate a doctor.

Arianna hadn't been yelled at since Enclave bootcamp...if you didn't count Colonel Autumn getting pissy when something didn't turn out EXACTLY as he expected it to. Slowly...very slowly, she lowered her plasma rifle, sliding the weapon across her back again. She turned to Jacob.

"Fine," she said, "but I can't guarentee I won't draw again if there's trouble." She gave Jacob a dark look, still not trusting the doctor, but supposing if he was an assassin, she would find out soon enough.

"So what about the boy? I'll take full responsibility for him," she said hopefully.

"Then you do that, Arianna. You'll feed him, protect him, do whatever you fucking want with him, I have a funeral to get to." Edward turned to the newcomer and said,"Yes, as my colleague said, if your here for the job, I wouldn't mind an extra bodyguard. Now, can we get a move on. I'd rather not stay out here longer than we have to."

--------------------------------------------------

The Eagle watched as two new people joined the group. He was sure he recognised the girl. Two words came to mind as he looked at her, Enclave and FEV. He knew her, he was sure of it, but something stopepd from remembering. He took the Fixer packet out of his trouser pocket. The lady had said his mind was clouded, and this would clear it. He felt this girl was important, more important than the plan at the funeral. He thought about it for a few seconds, and then opened the packet, and swallowed the pills. A second passed by, before the Eagle fell to the floor, clutching his stomach. He managed to get to his knees, before making a retching sound, and vomiting on the floor.

David looked up. His mind was clear. The guilt was back, but he could put it out of his head for the moment. He knew who the girl was now. Arianna Lahar, head scientist on the east coast FEV project. He had met her once or twice. A nice girl, beautiful, but very naive. It didn't matter what she was. He felt no empathy for her now. She deserved to die, and if all went according to plan, she would die along the others at the funeral. David went back to watching the group. He recognised Jacob, Brad and Tom, and the memories he had of them made him sad for a second. But if they were working with stone, then they would die, as painful for him as that would be. He waited to see what they would do next.

With the attention mostly on the two legged that just arrived Biest was able to concentrate more on his feeding. The meat was not fresh and bloody like he preferred but it was an iguana and tasted well enough. Only Ari's squabbling with the two males was of some concern for the feral boy but until now it got no further than growling and showing their teeth to each other. At least that was the impression Biest got from his canine view on the actions between them.

Mostly finished with the body Biest turned his attention to the head of the iguana. Munching down on it to get to the brain the bones splintered noisily before he had it far enough broken to devour everything edible.
As he did it Edward talked to Arianna and the new arrival. From the way he acted Biest came to the conlusion that he was some sort of alpha male of this strange pack of two legged. He gave him a friendly submissive bark as he ended to show his respect like it was proper with him joining the group.

Suddenly Biests head jerked upward. There had been some sort of distant noise he thought but wasn't sure about it. The wind might have tricked him. Looking around Biest sniffed the air too but wasn't able to detect any threat to them.

Chameleon glanced awkwardly at Ari. 'Damn it, she just made fun of my joke. How the...' Then he took notice of Jacob's order. 'Meh, someone gotta do it.' He thought. When Edward fnally gve the permission for the strange boy to join; he shrugged his soldiers and went to the kid.
"Can we toilet-train him? He looks as if he wants to bite my fingers off. He better not though. I've had all ten for centuries!" He sniggered at his humour, then looked back to the boy and squatted until he was eye-contact. He spoke in a whisper.
"Listen mutt, you may not understand me but for that girl's sake; I'm gon' try teach ya English and show you how to pee-pee like a man. None of that one legged business. Also, if you attack any of these friends-yes, even the Jacob guy-then I will snap ya frickin' neck."To show what he meant, he pointed to the team and imitated a feral dog position then pointed at the boy before imitating a death sign. "Capiche? Yeesh, I hate roleplay." Then he rose back up and walked back to his group.

"Thanks for the votes of confidence, and for not shooting me." The Doc said as he lowered his hands.
"Uh, Mr. Stone was it? You most be the client in question. I am Gregory White and I thank you for excepting my employment as a bodyguard. I'm ready to leave when you are."

This was going to be harder than he had expected. Things didn't add up. Who or what would be after this man that he would need this much protection, to go to a funeral of all things.
There was little time to dwell on it though as the client was ready to move on.

Gregory's attention was drawn to the Mr. Gutsy unit that was with one of the mercenaries. The chances of meeting someone out with a working Mr. Gutsy was exponential, and this man had been able to reprogram it to act as a follower to him. This person was obviously more than he appeared to be. Gregory thought back to the stories he had been to by Mr. Taylor The One Man Caravan and wondered if this man could be the same man that Mr. Taylor had traveled with in the past.

White was worried about the young boy he looked hurt, but he wasn't about to just walk strait up to a feral child.

"Um, Miss? If this boy is indeed in your charge I could provide some medicine for his leg, and we could fashion a splint if necessary. I'm willing to help if needed."

He looked Biest in the eyes and in a calm voice said
"I can help you if you'll let me."
White held out his hand to the boy. Ready to pull away just in case.

(OOC: Feel free to respond to this I just wanted to put the next part up.)
-------------------------------
As the group began to get ready to go White walked over to Jacob out of curiosity.

"You must have one heck of a story of how you got a hold of a Mr. Gutsy unit in such good condition, there aren't many with the skill or know how to get and keep one in working order."

Biest wasn't sure about the meaning of Edwards wave. It was no gesture he was used to from the pack of wild dogs he lived with before. From his time with the rattlesnake raiders he knew the two legged acted a lot different and here it showed again. It looked more friendly than threatening to him and he decided to answer it with another friendly bark before he turned his attention back to the iguana. There was not much left now but a few bigger bones. He crushed one with his teeth and licked the marrow from it.

Chameleon came again over to him. Biest crouched down into a defensive position but the tense tendons that became visible on his dirty very skinny body showed that he was prepared for an attack form him. This time he didn't growl. The feral boy had no idea about toilet training but he understood the word bite. Understood this two legged that he would defend himself if he needed?
As Chameleon squatted down Biest relaxed a little bit. He understood this was no good position for a two legged to attack easily out of. He tilted his head a bit to the side with his tongue hanging out of his opened mouth as Chameleon talked to him from this position. It was just like a dog sometimes did if one talked to him but from Biest it surely looked a bit strange. From the words he only understood the word mutt. He remembered being called that way from the raiders and by the sound of them it wasn't friendly. Chameleons tone was different and that was the reason he didn't growl about it. Just then the two legged pointed to the others and went to all fours. Biest was surprised by it and tought about greeting him in dog fashion by sniffing on his dog side. But before he could act the two legged pulled his finger across his throat. This was a gesture he knew just too well. Every time he had to fight one of the raiders dogs or another creature they made this sign as he killed it. Was the one trying to tell him not to kill the others or that they would kill him? Biest wasn't sure but whined like a dog to it. After this the two legged stood up and left him alone.

After interacting with the other the new two legged that wore a second skin like Ari turned his attention to Biest. He looked the boy in the eyes and his words sounded calm. Such eye contact from a dog was aggressive but his words sounded friendly. The word help was another one Biest remembered. One time a pup of the raiders used it as it treated one of his wounds. Biest held the eye contact for a moment but then he looked to the ground in a submissive gesture. He stepped slowly forward with the visible limp from his right leg to sniff the offered hand. He had some minor three or four day old wounds from a fight with a dog the raiders sent after him. Most healed well enough but a bite at his right leg still hurt quite a bit. It wasn't really serious but nasty enough to slow him down.
Biest gave Gregory's hand a quick lick with his tongue followed by a friendly bark.

The doctor gained Arianna's trust at once, the second he went to Biest and treated him with kindness. She regretted drawing on him, after that...but then, she had a lot of regrets in her life.

"I may be a scientist," Ari told the newcommer, "But I know a thing or two about medicine. I would, however, appreciate the help, as I'm not sure how the child will react when we start fixing that leg of his. He may react as any animal, struggling, yelping, biting...or he may realize we're trying to help."

Arianna gazed at the doctor, and smiled at him, extending her hand. "I'm Arianna Lahar, by the way," she introduced herself. "Sorry about the Plasma rifle. I thought you might be...umm...dangerous."

Arianna watched as Chamelion tried to sign to the child what would happen if he attacked any of the group. She frowned, but said nothing; she hadn't trusted the Doc here, and they didn't trust the boy. At least they were going to let him tag along. She would prove Jacob wrong; she would find a way to touch the humanity within Biest...it would take time, but she would do it.

Every time the feral child barked, or whined, or did anything canine Jacob visibly winced. However each time he quickly regained his composure, and the reactions to the child seemed to be a subconscious impulses. When Chameleon added him as an afterthought as part of the group, Jacob dramatically put his hand to his chest "And here I thought you didn't care." rolling his eyes as he said it. Jacob turned to Edward after the older man expressed his desire to get back on the move. "I'm inclined to agree. At this rate it'll take us a month to get you to where you need to go, and I'd like to make a profit on this little venture, not have to spend all my pay restocking my supplies. Speaking of which-" Jacob drew his plasma defender, muzzle pointed at the ground and replaced the battery with a fresh one. He took the spent battery and put it in a pocket on the inside of his armor. He was down to three spare batteries for his pistol, but his rifle was still running on the first battery thankfully. A bit of down time and he would be able to recharge them off of the power cell inside GU-DR.

Edward nodded at Jacob."Good to see somebody agress with me. Now that you're all done bonding with feral children and killing cazadores, lets get a fucking move on."
Edward started walking down the road.

Ari turned towards the older man, and then her gaze shifted back to Jacob. There was something about the older man that she liked, but she couldn't quite place it. She felt an irrational attachement to him for some strange reason. She shook her head, and spoke.

"Someone want to tell me just where the hell we're going, anyway?" she asked, with just the faintest hint of sarcasm in her voice.

Chameleon looked and replied with his usual witty remark. However, by looking at her, his tongue stumbled to find the right words.
"We're, erm... off to find the wizard?" In his mind, the voice slapped his face for acting so dumb. However, he didn't mind...
"A foolish thought, to say a sorry sight." He had accidentl spoke out loud. Damn it! He was maing a bigge fool than he thought. In the end, he answered without trouble.
"Funeral, remember? Well, suppose, it's his best buddy's funeral so we're escorts an such. I don' care, as long as I'm getting paid." Then he whistled happily and shrugged his shoulders.

Ari gave Chameleon a quizical look. She wondered if she made him nervous for some reason. Shaking the thought, she frowned at the means of their journey.

"A funeral?" she said, true sadness in her voice. She had only wished she could've given her sister a proper funeral. She turned towards Edward, true sympathy in her eyes.

"I'm sorry to hear about your friend," she said softly. After a moment she turned her gaze back to Chamelion.

"I didn't get a chance to tell you, but...well, you said something about memory loss before you took off. Depending on what caused it, I *might* be able to help if you want. I know my way around the body, you might say." She offered a light smile, hoping to calm his nerves.

Chameleon glanced back but was careful not to make eye contact.
"There's many reasons for this but it all leads to my insanity. I can remember certain things, but everything else is blurred out. I remember an experiment, stealthboys and the deaths of my parents. However dame, this is something I'd rather speak in private. We'lll discuss this next time we rest for the night. Wow, you're the first person that's tried asking me that question and I haven't bitch-slapped you!" He laughed, but still seemed nervous by the fact. Arianna; who was she?

Jacob turned and began walking along the road, following Edward, with GU-DR following Jacob at a relatively consistent distance behind him. Occasionally something within the robot beeped, but the process seemed to be automatic. The new addition to the group approached Jacob soon after they began walking, inquiring about GU-DR. "Truth be told when I found him, he wasn't even functional. I had to rebuild him from the ground up. I couldn't even retrieve his name, GU-DR is just a shortening. I found him and his parts in Denver. "Gutsy-Denver". Used to be my job back home actually. Helping keep all the robots up and running."
