Fallout 1 mod FO1 to FO2 conversion, for real

In your fallout 2 directory should be a /data/proto/ folder. This "proto" folder has to be read-only or all files inside will be deleted after starting the game.

I still need assistance though...

1) No patch0000.dat exists in the game folder (neither in subfolders)
2) The game is in Russian (although I've overwritten the text folder)
3) I start the game in the V13 cave (no Overseer/WaterChip intro...)
4) At the V13 corpse's inventory a few grids from my starting position as mentioned in 3), there's a Power Armor, a guass rifle, fuel cells etc... What the f;ck?!

Did you started the compile.bat in fallout2/data/ssl/ ? After this, it should work.


/Edit: Ah, now I know what you mean.... its.. well, you can't really play fallout 1 on fallout 2 at the moment. The videos are missing, the talking heads are missing, and so on. I think, the inventar from "Ed" is only there for the developer to test things faster.

LOL, this is almost like when Jo promises you the GECK in Modoc in Fo2. I thought it's converted, finished, done. Damn. Do'h! :puppy-dog:

At least, is there any way I can get it running with English texts? Now I have the russian version. I tried to extract the english text files from a clean Fo1 install but nothin suitable was found, unfrotunately...

EDIT: Found out what's the story with the texts. At least I'll learn some Russian. :)
 
Here are the text files. It should work, if you extract the rar archiv into your fallout 2 directory. If it won't work, then... I don't know. :/

By the way, your german is very well. :P

I already got that one, not working really. Half of the text is still in Russian.

Hey would you look at that i got it to work, but i think that the 10mm pistol is make my game crash, not all the time maybe 1/10 times it dose it, i remeber reading somewhere that the sound SFX made the game crash but i cant remeber where...

Any updates on this mod? playing fo1+fo2 in one game is like a dream come true :D
 
What exactly is updated? I really like this project, but I can only understand one or two russian words.
 
I ran this Jordan guys last post threw a tranlayer this is what i got.

Скачай fashions under the new reference glitches with casual meetings there are corrected and glitches at transition in некрополисе Has laid out fashions with the compiled scripts and also the patch enters into it. A fashion I yet did not do updating. The second patch I shall make later. Installation a fashion became easier. Fashions it is put on localization 1C and fargus on Levcorp did not test but I think too will go
 
While we are speaking about it...
Fallout modding would be a lot easier if something like DLTCEP and WeiDU for IE games would be done for Fallout.
 
So is it now possible to port Fallout 1 into Fallout's 2 engine
by using all these files posted here?

Is it stable enough to play F1? and are all dialoges and text in english?

And what about mods/patches for fallout1 do the also work when playing it in F2 engine?

that would be all...for now :P
 
Well, it is playable, but at the moment it is just a kind of test build. As far as I know, a new patch is in work, but I don't know, when it will be finished. The last stand is, that all graphics, etc. are finished. There are only some issues with the scripts left.
 
Do you guys think TeamX will work on their Resto project in this? or continue with the impossible FO1 engine. (cue Wasteland Ghost)
 
TeamX will make it's FO1 Restoration Project under "impossible" FO1 engine. There are a lot of reasons for this. As experienced modder ;) I know: even if such conversion will ever be completed, there will be A LOTS of bugs and it will take enormous amount of time to fix them all. But if Jordan ever wants to integrate our patches/mods in his project, we will give him all he needs to do so.

BTW how much work has been done on the FO1 Restoration Project so far?
