FO2 TC: Fallout of Nevada

Well, but now that I've played it for a while, I can say that, once you get over the fact that it's COMPLETELY different from FO2, and realize that you need either high lockpick or high STR to survive, the mod is lots and lots of fun, despite a number of minor bugs and an occasional broken quest. Definitely recommended to all and any FO fans.

I wonder if anyone's actually working on a translation? If someone actually gets the process going, I wouldn't mind helping out some with the actual translation work and proofreading on my free time.

I am learning Russian because of this. Seriously. I am a translator and language teacher, but it is still hard. It's just like years ago, when I was playing Fallout for the first time without any kind od walkthrough (I DON'T mean a SPOILTHROUGH). Did they already release the English version, or not? I'll learn Russian anyway, I fell in love with the language.

Ochin haroshaya rabota, bratci.
Bravo!!!

Haha, me too.
All those great mods (and Stalker Build 1935) and I can't play them because I can't understand them... No more! Well, at least soon.

As for the mod, great work indeed.

OK, back to English.
Yea, it is. Hope, I'm not gonna blow myself up too soon.

Huh, pal. I'm not really from CZ. I just live here, but really, I'm from Russia.

Hence why I know the language. :)

I've been listening to the music and it is really, really awesome. And the track "Sweetness and Light" reminded me of Stalker (the film of course). But anyway, liked every single track.

One of my close friends speaks and reads Russian. While I won't be able to motivate him to do the entire translation, I'd be glad to chunk him a part for a tryout, if interested.
Offer is still standing.

Guys, it is already finished. Enjoy!

I am just finish this game. It was COOL ( especial for fan-maked game). There are 3 bugs(with Macozit Bear Hand, Graffity-Boy and some thief in Salt-Lake, to cure it - fixes from site) and 2 times - crashing game. That's all. So (And I repeat) enjoy. I hope, You will have a fun, nostalgy and something else...

P.S. Sorry, if my english not good.

By the way it's in russian. So i'm sorry. But now people working to translate it to english and czech. And I don't know, maybe, they did it.

If it wasn't in Гражданский шрифт but transcribed to normal letters I could probably understand some of the things. Anyway, thanks for your effort and I hope I will see a Czech or English version (or Polish, assuming it would be translated directly from Russian).

OK, friends, I see that the English translation is progressing very slowly and now I can offer you some help.
I am a professional interpreter, translator and teacher of Czech, English and, so to say, Yugoslavian languages (i.e. Croatian, Serbian, and Bosnian). I have learned some Russian as well. I have 20 years of experience in the job and some 10 years of Fallout experience.
I am playing the FoN for two weeks now and I UNDERSTAND NEARLY EVERYTHING:) It's the 99.b with an English translation:

First link is the translation, while the second and the third one are the translation patches.

HOWEVER, the most part of text is in Russian and so I have decided to offer you help.
PLEASE, LET ME HELP YOU AND TRANSLATE FOR YOU A PART OF THE TEXT FILES FOR FALLOUT OF NEVADA!
My experience is vast and my knowledge of Fallout world is more than good.
I want to help you, my Fallout brothers and sisters - free of charge, of course.

All I need are the text files in some format I could use (.txt or .doc) OR the files and a link to the software that opens them.

Please, do not hesitate and PM me.

It will be my pleasure to DO something for Fallout.
I am no scripter.
I am no modder.
But I know languages. And I'm here for you.

Alex

Fantastic Alex - maybe have a look here - http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58394 for some info, etc...I tried to use Google Tranlate, but without much luck - in other words it sucked big time.

Hey, Pixote, it's you, the translator. Hello. So, would you like to make a deal as which one of us is going to translate which part of the text? Or, if you don't have time, I'd be willing to translate everything.

I am translating quite a lot some magazines such as Guns 'n Ammo and I also translate ALL kinds of movies, so that talking and writing in slang and guns are familiar to me.

I already offered to translate the Metropolis Big Apple mod for FO3 at VGU Network, but no one yet wrote. Maybe I'll write to the Russian people after I finish this "Project Nevada."

All the Russian texts should be stored in your Fallout2\Data\Text\ directory, mostly as a *.msg files. Notepad++ is a great tool to work with it:
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Also, some info about the *.msg files:

Dekuju, Valcik. Ako sa mas, kamarade?
TYVM, Valcik, my friend.

I used Google for the translations, hence they sound rather poor, and often make no sense whatsoever. All of the art is finished, including the extra critter animations, etc. So what's required is a proper translation of the critical text files in these folders - Fallout Of Nevada\data\text\english - cuts - dialog - game.

The "game" folder contains critical files that will affect the game itself, so care must be taken with the text formats. If unsure, just refer to the original Fallout 2 game files. It might be wise to contact the original developers and see how much of the mod is already translated into English, it could make your job much easier.
