FO2 TC: Fallout of Nevada

BlackDesigner promised the community to finish the Russian FoN v1.0 before the New Year. Well, let's wait and see which New Year he actually meant.

After playing this conversion for about one hour it was clear to me that, beside the nice graphics, the plot and quests are just ANOTHER sleeping pill... Restoration Project was the only mod that actually is worth play. Ressurection, Oblivion lost, Fallout of Nevada, etc... just a stab on the original Fallout game.
Is kinda funny that most of the Mods and convertions came from Russia... That makes us non Russian speakers have to use those "English translations" made by people who don´t speak it fluently. The result: non sense dialogues, error, and what i call the Master Yoda effect: "second warning i will not say!" (just an example of "perfect sentence constrution"). And in Fallout Nevada, the dude who made the translation just nailed it...
It is a nice effort to give us non russian speakers a possibility to play those mods/convertions, but bad translations are so annoying and boring that turn all game just a big umplayable joke.

here´s just one of many examples in Nevada:
(can someone say exactly what the heck it means?...)

Anyway, you can spent 10 years making something like a Fallout 2 conversion, but all i´ve played untill now is far, far way from the original Fallou (and yes, even with all those huge and stupid bugs - Fallout is one of the best games ever made). And Fallout of Nevada is no exception.

As a native english speakers, nobody prevents you to take those text from the first translation and correct that to make a new one.

Sadly, if my Russian and Ukrainian Grandparents on my Mother's side didn't die when I was a little kid, I could really help with translation to English, since I'm native speaker born in the USA. My Grandmother started to teach me Russian, but the only thing I remember is a few words, including a derogatory term. My Mother could speak Russian (not read it, though) but never did and pretty much rejected the whole culture for some reason when I grew up, especially after they died. So I missed out on a lot of that, afterwards, but I'm thinking about trying to learn the language again and reconnect with my heritage. I do have a lot of relatives in Russian and I believe in the Ukraine that I've never met that are hopefully still alive that would be interesting to see and I'd like to visit there someday since I've always had a strong connection to that side of my family growing up and spent a lot of time with my Grandparents.

It is funny how this game has a Russian connection to it with the mods. The mods are what sucked me into Fallout even further after playing vanilla and finding this site back in 2003. Even killap from the Restoration Project said he has Russian heritage. Maybe it has something to do with the whole nuclear holocaust thing that started back during the Cold War, or the whole Communism thing that we all know all loved so much.

Judging the quality of a modification over the google translated text? I'm speechless.

well you have to be fair though ... a game that has a high focus on dialogues is kinda frustrating to play when you don't have a clue what some of the NPCs are actually talking about because of inaccurate translations and thus not even knowing if the choices you make are actually good ones. Those are free mods, so how much right has one to complain? Very little of course. I think everyone can show respect for the work and all that. But sadly that doesn't mean it would be less frustrating or maybe even impossible to enjoy some parts of the game. If someone gifted me a car but it works only half of the time I would be also frustrated when it stops working just when I need it, gift or not.

There is NO OFFICIAL TRANSLATION for this mod. Should I repeat?

Or do you want to say that if the game is in a language which you don't understand, it's automatically shit? Facepalm.
I don't understand your logic. You cannot judge the mod unless you are given an official translation.

I am Russian and I fully understand the original game and mod as well. And I can say that Fallout: Nevada is the top 1 fallout mod ever existed. Can't wait for the 1.0 version.
Only Olympus 2207 can compete at some degree.

No one said that. People just complain because the translation is hard to comprehend sometimes and thus the mod can't be fully appreciated by them, which is perfectly normal reaction.

I played only a demo version a year ago (or two years?), I'm Polish so I understood most of the dialogues (I even made English translation of most scripts, but it's long gone now) and I agree that this mod is great, althought it was unfinished by then. It turned into really huuuge thing in this time.

I played the mod v0.99 with Pixote translation and that i can say : Fallout of Nevada is top one TC mod.

Besides, the official VK page of the project has just announced that it's approximately one week left before the release.

Hope that an english translation is planned, this mod sounds and looks awesome. Russian part of Fallout never disappoint, I hope.

Perhaps some fans will be able to help. Still we have Drobovik and yours truly who are perfectly capable of understanding Russian.

Currently I explored pretty much of the Western part of the map with the assigned quests and I'm going to Wind of War for the first time.

No. The game is released with the 1st patch already. I keep enjoying it. The scale is larger than any other mods, comparable to original FO2 maybe.

It is also renamed to Fallout: Nevada to satisfy grammar.

I've just been going through the maps in the editor, and the scale of this game is insane, I feel like it's bigger than FO2, which makes no sense to me. Much of the custom art is also amazingly good. Absolutely incredible work; shame I'll probably never end up playing it. :salute:
