General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

On my PC I'm not playing anything, it's too old and I played every good old game that exists, I think. But it will change soon, because I bought a new one: the pieces will be here in a few days.

Meanwhile, I've been playing Final Fantasy X Internation. Finished it yesterday, and almost cried in the end :-( She didn't deserve that :-(

Will begin FF X-2 today and see what happens, heard she finds him :o

Brace for impact in FFX-2. That is one of the worst FF games ever made. Tops even FF2.

I'd like to play through FFX sometime, but it's lagging too much on my laptop.

I'm trying to dig in the history of games made by Black Isle, right now I'm trying to play Planescape - Torment.
The fact is, I'm *quite* irritated that my €3000,- PC has problems running a 10- year old game. Graphic glitches, slowdowns, freezes, etc, etc.

Apparently it's the new NVIDIA- cards that cause these problems, and the only fix available doesn't work since I'm running Windows Vista 64- bit.

Other then that, GREAT game, especially with all the fan- based mods and improvements, higher resolution, fix- packs, restoration- packs, etc, etc.

It's only natural for older games to have trouble running on new PCs and new OSs. PS:T is a very old game by now. If you have a desktop, there should be new drivers that allow you to control GFX acceleration. Turn Direct3D off, and you are good to go.

Trust me, I've tried EVERYTHING to make it work like it should. But with my system, none of the given solutions seemed to stick.

I think I'll just put together a "old- school" system like cronicler suggested.

P.S.

System specs.

Windows Vista 64- bit.
Intel Quad Core Q6700 @2.66 GHz.
4 GB. RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280

You should have followed the correct installation procedure for vista.

Short tutorial below...

Display Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, with latest drivers you should be able to change the settings. If you turn the hardware acceleration off, PS:T will work without problems.

Not in Windows Vista 64- bit it doesn't. Driver version is 182.50. But I STILL can't turn the hardware acceleration off.

P.S.
That is THE way to install Windows Vista b.t.w. :D

I'm trying The Godfather II, honestly the first was quite a bit better.

I do like the improved family interactions and such but everything looks more toony, I mean the colors just look way too bright and used in some places.

The controls feel worse, just everything felt kinda clunky, I died alot of times simply because my damn character wouldn't stop reverse clinging to a wall, or wouldn't be able to get past some tiny piece of trash.

The worst thing though, overall the kinda Godfather culture that was in the first one, where it was about respect, where you actually felt like one of the corleones, was really lost somewhere along the line, though it still has some of the spirit it just feels so tacked on now and used-up.

Hmm, maybe Vista in general denies it... Best I can suggest is a double-install with XP, but if you do make sure you know what you're doing - you'll need to fix the boot files if you install XP on top of Vista, since it uses a different boot system.

Necrovision, fun as hell. Take Wolfenstain, Painkiller mix them together and you have Necrovision. Story is predictable, but Id say this one is better then in Über Soldier. 1C is turning out good games as time moves on I have to say.

After returning Saints Row 2 to the video store, I decided to give Call of Juarez a try. So far it's pretty fun but jeez it sure is ass ugly.

I really like reading the bible while shooting people in the face. I don't really like playing as Billy as much as Ray tho'.

EDIT: Has anyone tried the new Riddick game? If so. Is it worth a diddily shit?

I played the demo. the atmosphere was nice and since i love the riddick movies i enjoyed it a lot. the graphics are very similar to "The Darkness". You can play stealthy and kill people from behind with a knife you can also grab a gun and shoot, at one point i was also controlling drones...now that was fun, everytime you die you go and controll the next available drone.

Erepublic thanks to fedaykin. At first glance, seriously potential.

Hehe, nice to hear. Actually, they give out 5 gold for each invited player who reaches level 6. To the inviter as well as the invited. But they don't have referral links. So anyone else who wants to register could give me their e-mail so that I can invite them.
