General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Funny that you people started to talk about Condemned:criminal origins, because i am replaying it again after a while on hard difficulty.Hard isn't really that challenging, mainly because health packs are constantly available.

Melee only run will be hard on hard difficulty though.
The game has brutal melee combat system, good atmosphere and interesting story.
It does have its fair share of problems, like the doors that require certain entry tools to be broken, or block that requires exact timing, as you actually end up taking damage while the block animation is running many times. Last level felt artificial, though the boss fight was great. And guns werent usefull, except for the rifle, and i didnt like how enemies can reload weapons, while you cant.
all and all, a good or very decent game.

I am also playing Silent Hunter 4 & 3, pretty much your best choices at WWII submarine simulators.

If you haven't played Condemned: Criminal Origins, you're really denying yourself a better story and vastly superior atmosphere.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Bloodshot it just fell apart in so many ways.

I won't give into spoilers tho'.
I did play Condemned: Criminal Origins. It was really unique when it came out. the atmosphere was really one of a kind.
Condemned 2: Bloodshot ain't that bad but i have to actually finish the game so until then i can't really make a judgment. but one thing i didn't liked right of the bat is that rose and thomas have changed A LOT!!!

The Thomas change kinda urked me too but it at that point would be an understandable change considering Agent Thomas's mental stability by the end of Condemned.

Although the new, youthful sounding voice confused me to no end.

Condemned 2......it will have some.....umm major changes that ......well, imo, suck horribly. That's not until towards the end tho'.

Up until the end, the game is great, except for a few too many guns laying around.

I'm playing Last Remnant, from Square Enix, it's simplistic as hell, but it's loads of fun.

Well, except that, whoever wrote the English translation for that is either a complete retard, or was writing for the average 10-year-old console player, or both. FO3 writers would be proud.

I just finished Star Fox Adventures a few days ago. Pretty nice game, kinda like a more laid-back Zelda or something, and with music sometimes reminding me about watching the Lion King movie as a kid. At times, I would say it looks about as good as Metroid Prime, which is not bad for another GC game :)

Yesterday I started playing Super Mario RPG, so I guess that will take me a few days to finish up. Looks okay so far.

Currently playing End War and having mixed feelings about it. It has very nice graphics, units and upgrades, videos are well done to. What hurts it is its slow, limited selection of units, small storyline campaign (Dow1 DC anyone). [spoiler:0482101384]Although I found it kind of funny in ironic way, how russian virus made the EU missile shield think that USA shuttles were ICBMs.[/spoiler:0482101384]

just finished condemned 2. i must say that it was okay but still i enjoyed the first part more than this.
The Condmned 1 was darker in some ways.
btw, i must say that The ending of condemned 2 was definitly nice. but in the end i must say that the game is Ok at best. nothing special.

Started playing Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty.
Probably one of the best platform games ever!

EDIT: Not a double post!

X-Com: UFO Defense (a.k.a. UFO: Enemy Unknown).

Seriously awesome.

Am playing Baldur's Gate 1 and Icewind Dale 1. The latter is really cool, but extremely uninventive. Still, a dungeon crawl with the D&D system. I can live with that.

Playing Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee right now, then I've got Abe's Exoddus ready for when I beat Oddysee.

Fun platformer I guess you'd call it.

I'm trying to dig in the history of games made by Black Isle, right now I'm trying to play Planescape - Torment.
The fact is, I'm *quite* irritated that my €3000,- PC has problems running a 10- year old game. Graphic glitches, slowdowns, freezes, etc, etc.

Apparently it's the new NVIDIA- cards that cause these problems, and the only fix available doesn't work since I'm running Windows Vista 64- bit.

Other then that, GREAT game, especially with all the fan- based mods and improvements, higher resolution, fix- packs, restoration- packs, etc, etc.

Grin: The new computers not being able to play old games issue is really getting bad with Vista 64 and Win7. If you have time, I would suggest hunting down some old parts to build an "old" pc. something around p2/p3 area. You can actually scrape such a machine for about 30$ if you get lucky in your flea-market hunts.

Besides old computers are really quiet and energy efficient for 24/7 downloads :D

I recently played planescape trough with vista laptop and i had some serious issues with some of the magic casting effects. It resulted frequent crashing . These issues were solved when i started playing in compatibility mode(cant remember which one) + 640x480 mode on.

I am now playing Icewind Dale (i borrowed it from a friend)
Also i am playing Sonic and Sonic 2, from a retail PC collection thingy that has all the good sonics and even some of the crappy ones.

Luckily i have 2 "old" computers, one with p3 and one with p4 so i can play all games i want to, without having to worry about old games not working.
My "new" computer has Ati 4870 512mb, intel core duo E8500 3,16ghz and 4gig ram. It should run anything reasonably well.

Totem Tribe
You might have played the Virtual Sim games like Virtual Villagers or the like. TT is a game that uses similar graphics. It's a combination of basic Rts and item hunting game with some puzzles here and there.
The game is very simplistic but somehow it is highly addictive. you just have to play a bit more to solve the next island....

You can check the game over at http://jayisgames.com/archives/2009/01/totem_tribe.php Hf.

Ha, me too. Bought during the steam sale too?

I think it's frustrating. I die CONSTANTLY. I hate having to do things all over again because I miss a jump near the end of a particular 'puzzle' or whatever you call it.
However, it's immensely satisfying when finally get past a really tough part. Totally makes up for it.
All in all, not that bad for €3.

It's only natural for older games to have trouble running on new PCs and new OSs. PS:T is a very old game by now. If you have a desktop, there should be new drivers that allow you to control GFX acceleration. Turn Direct3D off, and you are good to go.
