General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Currently addicted to, and kicking ass at, glChess 2.26.1

Best game ever.

Evil Genius - Just recently discoverd this gem.

And I'm still trying to finish the witcher. I think now I'm on my 3 restart. This time I WILL finish it!!

Playing Operation Darkness right now.

Thinking of whether or not The Beatles - Rock Band would be worth getting.

I've never had much of a thing for the Guitar Hero games for a couple reasons, too many songs I'd have to drudge through to get to the good ones, too many songs that are put in just to be near impossible and extremely frustrating, and overall annoying setup.

I can't think of any Beatles songs that I outright hate and would have to force myself through, I can't really think of too many that would be outrageously hard, and the general look and feel of the game seems nice.

Dug out a few old games from my pile of cds because I was feeling nostalgic.

First up was Carmageddon 2. Boy did I play the fuck out of that game back in the day. Installed it, went through numerous fixes to get it running.. only to find out that the timer runs at roughly 2x the normal countdown speed (wasn't a multicore issue either, which is weird); which makes completing the end races of each bracket impossible. Apparently there isn't a solution to that problem.

Next up was Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2!

Apparently this game doesn't get along with newer GPUs, so you're forced to use software rendering which looks and runs like crap. Shelved it.

Still craving some Star Wars, I fired up Jedi Knight 2 and was chopping off limbs like a pro (g_saberrealisticcombat is the great).

Now I'm currently installing Section 8, which should hopefully hold me over until RE5's PC release.

Daggerfall.

Puresim Baseball.

Medieval Total War 2.

Railroad Tycoon 3.

Taking a break from Two Worlds and Halo Wars but have games going on.Probably going to take a break from Daggerfall as it is starting to get a little frustrating, not difficulty wise, just tired of falling through walls and staircases or having a quest object blocked off in a dungeon.

Mass Effect (great so far), Far Cry 2 (crap... I don't think I'll ever finish that game), Red Alert 3 (good), GTA IV (great), and still playing the Witcher.

Fuck that.
Reinstalled Carmageddon 1 the other day and I had the exact same problem.
Guess I won't bother to install Carmageddon 2 either now...
Carmageddon TDR sucks and doesn't work on XP anyway.

:|

I'm playing The Beatles - Rock Band.

I decided to just go and buy it with the instruments and everything, it's really enjoyable, I like doing the vocals a good amount, especially some of their somewhat later things like Revolution and Come Together.

It did work for me on XP once I set compatibility mode to win2000 or win98, can't remember for sure. But yeah, it does kinda suck.

I noticed I'm getting real slow at finishing games lately, I'm still on my first playthrough of System Shock 2 even though I really like it (several parts with constant spawns pissed me off though) and I started it few weeks ago. Damn.. I hope I'll be quicker on the second run.

Ugh.

Still Gunship. I'm having some trouble with it though. It turned out that the version I've bought crashes when pilot advances to 2nd Lieutenant.

I downloaded an Amiga version and it turned out that it works, but for some reason it deleted all pilots today.

Stuff like that really kills my enjoyment of games. I mean they are supposed to be luxury products and are very expensive, but in practice, usually one just buys a beta version, not a finished luxury good :| .

That's too bad because I wanted to buy more Microprose's simulations and knowing that they probably are going to be unfinished betas kills the idea.

I think I'll move to collecting comic books or some other safe hobby.

Anyway, I'm not sure if I want to continue to play. I have a choice between a version that will crash every time my character progresses beyond certain point and a version that seems to love to randomly delete all characters...

I guess, I should stop playing it and play QCad some more...

Waiting to get a new PC, so I'm stuck with my old PS2 for now.

I've been playing:

Disgaea 1
Persona 3

Getting my jrpg goodness right now.
