General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

never played it before. but i played the demo and it was good.

I heard the game is shit, level design sucked etc. Dark Messiah for PC was good, but I never played Elements. Perhaps the reviews are wrong.

Playing Dungeons&Dragons Online:Eberron Unlimited. You can actually play it for free in Europe, pretty neat if you ask me.

It's a blatant LOTRO rip-off, but well executed. I think I'll be playing this for a longer while.
You have to consider it was made by the same people who made LOTRO and a lot of ideas were transported into LOTRO from it since it was out longer.

No the game is good, better then M&M9 ever was. But the low reviews were because the first launch of the game was bugged to hell. Personally I didn't have any game breaking bugs and finished the game and was satisfied. Some of the intros and levels were really well done so you want to try them out as different classes. Since I played more of a stealth char it reminded me of Thief a lot.
Anyway elements should be an upgrade over old one, but its a pitty there isn't a 2nd one coming would definitely buy that one.

Mob Rule & Ascendancy, both fun older games.

Ascendancy, that old space colonization game? That's such a great game. Great tech-tree and special abilities of the different species. I always went on a search for xeno-archeological digs to get crazy technology early in the game that was usually too costly in time to build anyway. I usually played the race that can instantly research a tech with their special ability. Got a little bit too easy towards the end though, but I guess that goes for a lot of strategy games. Sadly I haven't been able to run it without lots of crashing the last few setups I've had.

Well, so far it has been quite interesting, i am enjoying. but one thing i did notice is that the graphics are kinda murky compared to the pc version.

's normal. Consoles don't handle big textures and a lot of 'jommetry' very well, in comparison to PC gaming rigs.

yup, the GPU in xbox 360 doesn't have enough texture memory compared to nowdays GPU's or even the nvidia 8 series.
And those games on xbox 360 and the ps3 that look "Good" have mostly some neat shaders but they all have crappy textures when you get close enough to objects. a good example would be Killzone 2.
But what can one say...when your budget is low, and you like Dead Rising...you gotta stick with a crappy console. :)
I will buy a good PC when Diablo 3 and The Witcher 2 are out.

Gunship and Operation Flashpoint.

OFP is a nice murder simulator :D . I've set up a town with "hostile civilians" and I'm attacking it with various forces :D .

Fuckin Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. I've really been into my DS as of late. I don't have time to play anything else and that's just ten minutes here and there. But it's good and fun. So that's what matters.

I'm currently playing Oblivion. Heavily modded, of course. Going past Bethhate, this is a pretty decent dungeon crawler, manly due to the effort of the mod community to fix it, coz it's nigh-unplayable out of the box. There's this cool mod that allows you to throw shit at shit and shit dies. It's fun! Death by mudcrab, motherfucker.

Have you also played the previous games?

Going through Alien Earth again, me and Maximaz wanted to record the intro of the game and I installed it again for that purpose.
Seeing as I had nothing better to do I have decided to play it again.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Playing through this again, have nothing better to do. Plus it's my favorite Nintendo DS game. :D

I was playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin a while back. Fun little game, bought it because I wanted something new to play on my DS, and I remember playing Famicom Wars and Super Famicom Wars.

Thief & Thief 2

God I just love these games. Brings back good memories. On the first one I'm at the Hammerites' prison right now and on the second one, still on the first mission.

^ Confusing, right?

Resident Evil 5.

The controls are amazing compared to RE4 (thank god), and it looks good and runs very well.
I agree on everything :)

I heard the AI of the forced companion is terrible, that is why I did not get the game even though I played almost all of the previous games.

Project:snowblind. 2004/5 GAME.

Utter mediocre console fps garbage.
It looks worse than Deus Ex, mainly because it has this awful filter applied to it that makes it look even worse than it would without it.
Combat is terrible, guns are weak, enemies have bad AI and seem to forget that you ran behind a box/wall/door just five seconds ago.
Its as linear as a FPS can get.
Augmentations AKA superpowers are divided into two categories, useless and overpowered. Useless : Invisibility (ai is too stupid for you to need this) Heat vision. Overpowered: bullet time AKA AI Butt rape + lube. "ballistic shield" near immortality, AKA AI butt rape no lube.
It also posseses one of the worst PC save systems i have seen, you CAN ONLY save at certain save rooms and after a level ,it doesnt have checkpoints.

I also had that game, couldn't even play it because for some reason it screwed up the graphics.

No big loss as I got rid of it and bought a better game instead.

Project: Snowblind was actually at first intended as a Deus Ex game. At some point they decided against it, but a lot of the ideas from DX and mainly DX:IW seem to have made their way into it. Especially the decend into shittiness I guess.

The only game I'm currently playing is the first Baldur's Gate, together with Tutu so that I can play a wild mage from beginning till end. 'Playing' is perhaps exaggerated, as I'm putting perhaps 1-2 hours into it each week lately. That's all the time I can spare in between meetings, readings, normal university hours. Kinda takes the fun away if you have to get used to the the game each time you do have time.
