General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Found Warcraft 3 at a thrift store and just started, I had never played it before but it helps understand why Blizzard went the route they did with Starcraft 2. Good game so far.

Borrowed Catherine from a friend a week ago. I'm not one for doing puzzles of this nature with a time limit but it's pretty good. Kind of glad I didn't buy it because I don't see myself paying 60 bucks for this, no matter how good it is. Plus, the nature of the story is something I'm scarcely interested in; so that makes it harder for me to want to buy it.

Not to mention I'd rather use that money for the new 52 comics from DC.

I might get it when it's around $20.

"God damnit what in the fuck are you doing standing still in the middle of a construction zone, Bill?!"
"Hold on, I gotta watch this advertisement on my retinal augs for the new value menu deal at McDonalds. Should be done in about 18 seconds."

Dead Space 1 wasn't scary at all. I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you can rape a game into the ground with great shooter skills, IT'S NOT SURVIVAL HORROR.

Agreed on that one. DS1 was not scary but the tense atmosphere was great. Loved it. Hopefully you're right about the second one.

I just finished Assassin's Creed II. WTF?????

Now that they actually bothered to fix DE:HR with the latest patch, it went from a stuttering unplayable mess to running great on my nearly 5 year old PC.

I went into it with low expectations, but I've got to say that it's everything that a series reboot should be. It feels like a natural continuation of the series instead of a shoddy remake, and that's quite a pleasant surprise.

There's only one problem I've got with the game, and that's the fact that XP gains are extremely biased towards non-lethal takedowns to the point where you're very much screwing yourself over by using standard weapons.

Between that, most weapons being a bit hard to use (the Revolver is awesome however), veeery slow HP regen (which I am fine with otherwise, adds some tensions to firefights instead of pop-out pop-in) and enemies on Deus Ex having good amounts of life, it really encourages you to sneak around; a run-and-gun playthrough is harder than a sneaky one, and the non-lethal weapons are all one-shot takedowns no matter the toughness of the enemy (OK, Ogres do take ages to go down to tranqs, but they can be knocked out just fine in melee even if they are 8 foot tall augmented behemoths in heavy combat armor...)

Also, Mount and Blade: Warband is quite nice. The combat is well thought out (even if fights start getting very chaotic once both you and the enemy have 40+ troops), and I like the player progression and management aspect. It could have used a more solid background and more interesting characters to help immerse into the world, however, as of now I find it hard to care for anything since NPCs are either fighters, merchants, quest givers (of the very same quests, everytime, how many stupid caravans must I escort?) or info-dumpers.

I bought King Arhtur: the role-playing wargame on Steam when it was 75% off and I've been playing it since. a whole lot of fun. sure, it's not perfect, but the battles are tactical enough for me and the role-playing aspect is fun. it certainly allows for another playthrough after the first.

Got my hands on Beyond Good and Evil HD. I had a lot of fun with the original version. Will give it another shot once I am finished with Batman: Arkham Asylum. Actually by now I should have been finished with B:AA but I bought Duke Nukem Forever a week ago and I kind of switched from Batman to Duke. :D
DNF wasn't all that bad, just some mindless fun shooter. One thing that really annoyed me though was the long loading times as mentioned in pretty much every review of the game.

Guys, Company of Heroes is 80% off today. If you like RTS in any way, shape or form, do yourself a favor and buy these awesome games. 10$ for the original and both stand-alones (you can skip Tales of Valor safely, however) is pure robbery. No, this statement was not sponsored by Relic, I just love them that much.

Oh, and besides Lonesome Road, still playing Mount and Blade. It gets better once you get a sizeable party. And once my archer PC is actually capable of shooting straight after much leveling.
