General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Godhand, picked it up after I got frustrated, and after I picked it up I beat the part that was giving me problems in minutes, weird.

Heh. Awesome game. I've been meaning to replay it as well.

Restarted on Eternal Poison. Strangely, it's one of the least known games I've encountered. I bought it strictly because I couldn't find any real information about it. It's also interesting that it was able to get away with a Canadian release without French instructions. There are a few glaring bugs in the game so it might have gone the same way as another Atlus release (even though that was a huge release).

As an isometric tactical game, the inability to train is somewhat annoying or disturbing. You are constantly under leveled and throw that in with the tight budget concerns, it becomes harder than it had to be. Basically, you are forced to fight without knowing what lies ahead (story fights only, no training what so ever, and you can't come back to another location), with enemies that are higher levels than you, and since you can't afford decent gear, it becomes a spiral. It sort of reminds me of the old Shining Force CD game. In order to save space, that game didn't even have towns at all.

The story is told in an interesting way, a la Romancing Saga. The same story is told through different perspectives from different people you choose to play as. It's interesting how they can afford English VAs for such a limited release. Why didn't they stick with the original Japanese to save some money? I'll post more once I get farther into it.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy Tactics are only two JRPGs I've replayed in my adult life and liked.

No Tactics Ogre? :<

Finished Catherine recently. It was a good game, but now more than ever I'm sure I wouldn't pay 60$ for it. The puzzles become easier as you get familiar with the mechanics, albeit I'm sure I'd have a troublesome time in Hard mode given that you can't undo any moves. Then there's the multiple endings aspect. Regardless of Vincent's inner thoughts (only thing you can affect outside of the ending), the story always builds up to Katherine's endings; never towards Catherine's. Which doesn't quite make sense, but alas it is how it is.

Having done that, I picked up Shadows of the Damned yesterday. I've always heard of Suda 51 but unfortunately, never played one of his games -- making this my first Suda 51 game. Must admit that I'm having fun, despite the fact the shooting camera is similiar to Resident Evil 4's which a lot of games have borrowed it from. Then again, Shinji Mikami was the producer of this game; so it is only natural. I blame my controller's analog sticks which are a bit loose from using them for 4 years. Depending on how much I like this game, I'll probably purchase No More Heroes in the near future. That and killer7 which I've meant to buy for some time.

Just finished 'Batman: Arkham Asylum'. It is undoubtly the best "Super Hero Game" ever.

Now I can't wait for 'Batman: Arkham City'. :)
I still have to find all the riddles thought. I have found about 80% of them so far.

Hmmm, now the question is: Which game should I play next?

A.Beyond Good and Evil HD
B.Dead Rising 2
C.Final Fantasy 13

Slowly diving into DX:HR, just got slightly further than beta content ended (in just arrived in China now) . This game is sweet.

Play through in that order.

Battlefield 3 beta. Seems like an upgraded version of BC2. That's not bad, but it needs some more tweaking to make it better.

Also, waiting for Dark Souls to come out next week. Seems like it could actually duel with Skyrim for RPG of the year, seeing as public opinion actually favors it despite the whole "Die multiple times until you get it right and then have a happiness orgasm from the sheer shock of succeeding" type gameplay it has.

What kind of tweaking would BF3 need OakTable? Can you share a bit more from the beta?
It's an open beta, so download it if you want and see for yourself. But there are a lot of silly mistakes they retained from BF2, like the inability to quit and set up your weapons while waiting for a new game to start. The game is also extremely bright, although that might just be me. Also, I am annoyed that they added the scope swaying shit from Call of Duty where you have to hold your breath and stand still in order to be even close to accurate.

The sniper rifle was too easy to use even with out the breath hold in CoD. From CoD 2 further anyway. [/nitpicking]

Still replaying parts of Space Marine where the slaughter is best (parts with Orks mostly, fighting Chaos is often ridiculous in terms of difficulty) and some New Vegas - finally got Gun Runners Arsenal.

Playing Gears 3, finding it pretty funny actually. While Epic can't do a decent story to save their lives they can fit in some good snarky jokes.
Just a bugger Ben Carmine is unlocked in multiplayer at level 34.

Putting some time into Syndicate Plus now, after the Syndicate FPS shitstorm reminded me the game exists. Can't seem to focus on one game at a time.

Trying to get into the BF3 beta, with all sorts of problems. First it didn't seem to validate the installation, then it refused to make matchmaking work, and now matchmaking goes for 20 minutes straight with no results. Am I the only one?

UPDATE: this shit sucks. There is no in-game menu, everything is done via the web browser. This means that, on the off-chance you find a server that is neither full nor empty, you need to connect to it and begin playing in order to fiddle with the options. While being fired at and promptly kicked because you stand around like an idiot trying to make the game go above 15 FPS. Not only that, but Origin and the web browser, both taxing programs to an extent, must stay open at all times, making my already slow connection almost unplayable. If they keep the same half-assed system for the full release, EA can kiss my money goodbye, no way I am going to cope up with such as piece of shit setup.

As for the game itself, can't comment, apart that even at low settings it's pretty.

Hmmm, I'll download the beta tonight and see how it works. I ain't holding my breath though, the internet connection here is quite crappy.

Downloading StarCraft II demo. This will probably take longer than finishing the damn thing.

Also, I do Killing Floor from time to time.

Godhand's learning curve is steep as hell, or I just suck at it, fun game, but I gotta play it on small dosis. My tendons are screaming at me.
