General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

It's been a while since I've played an rpg as huge as Earthbound. I'm loving every second of it.

On the subject of Ultimate MvC3, I'm still passing. What's with all the Megaman hate from Capcom lately? I mean, cancelling MML3 and Megaman Universe, two very large releases. Add not putting Megaman in either release of MvC3 and you're just pissing off Megaman fans. Just because Inafune left the company doesn't mean you have to shut down anything Megaman related.

And I'm all for joke characters in fighting games, but does Marvel think that anyone, ANYONE will want to play as Rocket Raccoon?

Beat AssCreed2, pretty good but I'm probably gonna take a trip into New Vegas to finish up some side quests before i tackle AssCreedBro, I'm Asscreed'd out at the moment.

So is it a good idea to kill this "Government Official" guy at the UNATCO headquarters on Liberty Island in Deus Ex? The one who you see interrogating the prisoner? Cause I'm pretty sure he's the bad guy.

Megaman is cool, but I am a huge Marvel fan. As for Rocket Raccoon he has a Massive fanbase with Marvel fans. He was a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy,so he really isn't a joke per say more of a fan service. Loads of Marvel fanboy's rant and rave for certain characters in Marvel games and Rocket Raccoon,Docter Strange,Hawkeye,Nova,Iron Fist, and Ghost Rider are but a few they requested, so Capcom really tried to appeal to the fanbase.
You may also notice that Ghost Rider has a movie coming out, and Hawkeye will be in the Avengers movie, so they are trying to put Marvel characters into the game that will be seen in the movies.

Aside from Inafune leaving Capcom, it has to do with Megaman not working really well. Capcom basically said that MM doesn't have that many moves and abilites. So they went with Zero instead because he works better in a fighting game. Their excuse pretty much was that MM sucks.

Been playing Dark Souls and man, there sure is a lot more variety in comparison to Demon's Souls. Essentially, the game is the same in that patience is your best weapon. Although Demon's Souls felt like it had more of a despairing atmosphere because story was on the edge, barely hanging while Dark Souls is basically "dead". I must admit that I'm a bit relieved that the mini bosses don't respawn. When I have no idea of where exactly to go next (which can happen on the account that there is no clear direction of where to go next), it's a bit of a pain if I use a bonfire and have to fight all of the enemies again.

That's why kindling the bonfires is so important.

Having more health refills means that you can go out farther.

That and having a ranged weapon always helps too.

You might not be able to kill everything with that bow, but you can lure stuff to edges and hazards that will make it far to kill them.

Yeah, I figured that out an hour in after "grinding" in the Undead Burg because I'd always end up wasting a few Estus Flasks when I got to the boss. Once I did that and got the short bow, it was easier as I could basically fight most enemies one on one. At this point I can last longer without going to a bonfire since I've upgraded my Estus Flasks twice. So far I've finished Blight Town and rang both bells. I'll probably grind for 20k souls to gain access to the Black Forest and get that Elite Knight armor set. Plus, I need to explore more of Blight Town.

Really? I thought he worked just fine in 1 and 2. Plus, they could use Megaman.EXE from Megaman Battle Network if they need a more expansive move set. With at least 6 games worth of Battle Chips to work with, they could come up with something.

That excuse for Megaman not being in does not hold up. Iron Man has just as few moves in MvsC3 as Megaman did in MvsC2. I think Inafune leaving is the only reason.

About to start Metro 2033. It's $5 on Steam today. Can't suck that much, right?

I have heard good things about it. It has a sequel coming out, so it can't be that bad........

Get the hell out of here Denton!

In other news, I've been playing The Binding of Isaac, fun little game (heavily inspired by the first Zelda game, in gameplay, dungeon design and interface, but all randomly generated). Someone on Steam gifted it to me for my birthday (which was the 10th, if anyone cares). :)

As for Metro 2033, I found it really fun. The forced stealth sequences got kinda annoying (and a part near the end which is VERY VERY difficult, I won't spoil it for you). It's also kinda linear, with only a couple of subtle "choices" in the game that can lead to an alternate ending. But overall it's pretty damn good, think Half-Life 2 + STALKER, or STALKER + regenerating health + 80% of the game spent underground. I think I should replay it sometime soon actually.

You can try if you like. 8-)

Yeah that didn't really work out as well as planned.

[spoiler:ccf242f19c]I'm assuming that his invincibility shield and uber-weapons means that he is the villain though.[/spoiler:ccf242f19c]

I've been playing a lot of Frozen Synapse, which is absolutely brilliant.

I tried the demo, didn't really get it, but once it was in a Humble Bundle and I could get it for a good price I figured I'd give it a proper shot.
Love it now - if you were on the fence the Humble Bundle has less than a day to go, so jump on it.

Also been playing Portal 2 co-op.

Picked up VTH-BL again, but I'm the the warehouse in Chniatown with very little ammo and surrounded by a bunch of Triads, and it got too frustrating that I "rage-quit" (that's been happening a lot to me, don't know why). Any suggestions?

If you haven't finished the game yet then definitly do this by all means. That's the only suggestion I can give. It's a must play.

I love the game, don't get me wrong. I just get frustrated at times

I know, It frustrated me as well, but it gets really interesting the further you progress through the game.

@sea: you also need to finish arcanum as it is one of the greatest RPG's ever made.

Dammit, kids these days! :D
