General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Only now when i'm playing the Witcher 2 for the third time (have also played the first witcher about 3 or 4 times), did it occur to me and started bothering me, that the game is designed in a way that makes the withcher a major thieving scoundrel. Looting peasant houses for everything that they posses, while standing in front of them, feels very not in tune with the way the game is portraying the witcher :D.

I'm thinking the same playing TW3. The people of Velen are starving and scarred from war, women have lost their husbands and children their parents. And Geralt tries his best to help. While ransacking their homes.

PS, I'm loving TW3 so damn much right now. Can't remember last time a game drew me in this much. And I'm getting a huge urge to replay 1 and 2 as well. I've forgotten some parts of the story, and I know there are many choices I never made playing through them, and would like to see how they play out.

I'm nowhere near finished with the game (don't even known any of the dlc), but I'm already feeling all kinds of nostalgic and sad that it's over.

I might not be able to make love to TW3 at all, seems like the devs have no intention of porting the game to linux after claiming otherwise before the release. Wish i could, seeing as how i love the 1 and 2. Very envious of your experience.

Well, I feel your pain. I couldn't play it on my old pc and had to wait until now. I hope they make good on their word and port it to Linux eventually. Are they just not giving any new word on said port or have they outright said it's not happening?

Just silence.

Got nostalgic going through my dresser found my old ps2 and a bunch of games. Playing metal arms glitch in the system. And I have to say it still holds up IMO. Its a pity that it's the only game swingin' ape studios made before getting bought by blizzard to work on one of the most notorious pieces of vaporware ever.

Currently running through Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines again with a Malkavian. I keep forgetting that there are actual voices in the Malk's head that speak up in game-play so I jump whenever a voice comes out of the ether.
How do you like the game? It's on sale right now on GOG. Thinking of getting it.
Stellaris and ol Freelancer with Crossfire mod 2.0, Space is the place.

Asimov beta is up on Steam!
Good to see they are working on improving diplomacy. I love stellaris.

I think one of the ParadoxExtra youtube videos states that Martin (the guy who did the Blorg Commonality videos) is now the lead for the game. I think if it develops like most other strategy games (gets a lot of love/patches/expansions over time) it's going to be very, very good.

Stellaris.

It's both great & disappointing. Can't stop playing it atm though.

Yep Martin seems like a guy who knows exactly what he is doing and I'm sure he has an unique vision for the game.

Getting ready for steam's summer sale. If the prices will be right, this should last me until winter's sale .

So Duskers is pretty cool.

I haven't played enough to give it a definite recommendation, but after going through the tutorial and first part it looks like an excellent game. It is only 200 mb in size and yet it has more atmosphere, ambience, and playability than many AAA releases.

If you like the Alien franchise and like that atmosphere/ambience, and like the idea of pretending that you're sitting on a spaceship and your only window to the outside world is one of those old CRT monitored computers with only keyboard commands to control explorer drones (which serve as your eyes and ears), then Duskers is something to look at.

Sorry for the rather late reply (the sale is over, I take it?). I must have miss the notification.

To answer your question, it's the best vampire simulator game I've ever played and a pretty good old game that holds up by modern standards RPG-wise (since your feats and powers do open up different options plus it is possible to role-play to a decent extent). Combat and stealth are not as good mechanically but the overall game is worth a purchase. It usually goes on sale around Halloween (I bought the Steam version of the game during Halloween last year). It does require unofficial patches but the GOG version provides plenty of support on what patches to use.

EDIT: Currently going through VA-11 HALL-A, a visual novel styled game about a bartender in a futuristic cyberpunk city getting by with customers who are also getting by in such a setting. It's not too complex and rather interesting at times.

Wolfenstein: The New Order. It's a little over the top but still a fun game to play.

Great game but i really didn't like the way the main guy turned out "Time to kill some nazis! I love killing nazis! I was born to kill nazis!" We get it.. You love to kill nazis. Thankfully the old blood is better on that front.

I prefer Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein 2009 for its Indiana Jones vibe.
I rather disliked TNO for wanting to deconstruct the whole WW2 pulp adventure vibe and make it more gritty like Sin City. The Old Blood tried to be a bit more like the earlier games but still suffered from some of the same flaws as TNO.
I consider TNO and The Old Blood taking place in their own timeline separate from RTCW and Wolf 2009 and I honestly hope those games will get a sequel more in tune with their atmosphere.

Currently playing Deep Space Nine the Fallen, the graphics are old but still acceptable, there is however something with the gameplay.
I would not call it 'stiff' but it is not as smooth as it should sometimes be for a 3rd Person Shooter.
Character controls are in general well but the aiming mechanic for weapons has issues, if you use aim assist it sometimes tends to lock on things you do not want to hit, and if you don't use it it is sometimes quite a challenge to aim at moving enemies. (perhaps a combination of both camera and the targeting)

Still a decent Star Trek game though.

Playing DOOM and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak simultaneously. Neither are of great interest.

So how does Deserts of Kharak compare to the original Homeworlds? I was a big fan of Homeworld 1 and Cataclysm way back. I did not like Homeworld 2 so much though.
I did not get the new remastered Homeworld collection as I read that the team messed up gameplay elements of Homeworld 1 by directly porting it into Homeworld 2 (for example projectiles now have a hit chance system instead of the original ballistics system, and formations have also been been replaced with the HW2 ones)

Doom, well I find it rather bland and boring looking. I would really much rather played a title like Half Life 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, or Jedi Outcast.

metro redux, this was used to be having a groundbreaking graphic back in 4 years ago..

not sure why the texture seems like a fallout 4 character. though the atmosphere, immersion , the diffculty and the story remain awesome as always.

now i cry, this games were developed by people whom budget is basically as same as an indie studio. Ushanka salute to you, 4a games.
