"You still feel like a hero?"
"I-I didn't mean to hurt anybody..."

he's right the dlc is way more improvement than main story. the villain of each two dlc are belieavable strong like that you are dealing with ancient evil you cant even fight.
i would call a total 20 hour of play through with lots of headache thinking after finishing in heart of stone, and 130 hour in blood and wine dlc. just beware though, the heat of stone is a change of theme that you'll eccounter more horror feel than the main games.
Blood and Wine isn't that long but it is a great length for a send-off expansion pack for a game like The Witcher 3 with a believably powerful villain to face off against. I only managed to finish everything in there after a whole week of playing.
As for Hearts of Stone, it was excellent with a villain who was far more intimidating than the main villain due to said villain's age, power and capabilities. The writing for that villain was damn good. Here's Hearts of Stone's main theme just to cap this off:

Played Witcher 3, but not the DLC (at least the paid ones) what's it about? Just looking for something general, please don't spoil me m8y.

I really can't say a word about it without spoiling it. But it feels very engaging, the story is presented in a way that the player wants to know more. In short: it's about mystery.

Have you finished the Walking Dead Season 1? I have, and I need a second to vent, but I don't want to ruin it for you.

I am on the last act of Episode 3.

Played like 10 minutes of ICO, played like 2-ish hours of Shadow of the Colossus, no idea what's up with The Last Guardian.

It's a game by the same studio and it has the same tone as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. I think they are one of those games that you either love or hate.

Have only played Mario Kart 7 and the GBA version. Don't judge me, okay?

Mario Kart 8 is pretty much the same as other Mario Kart games but with better graphics and maps collected from all the other Mario Kart games. It's pretty fun and the online is pretty damn addicting.

I'm thinking of checking out Dragon's Dogma for the pc next. Was aching to play it back when it was released on PS, but haven't gotten around to getting it on pc now that I can.

Definitely worth checking out. Minor annoyances aside, it had one of the best finale in gaming history. The atmosphere and gameplay are top notch too. Good thing that you waited since the PC version is the definitive version. It has all the dlc's and it runs like a champ!

its interesting to me that they use ottoman instrument with arabic tune to show what an eldritch ancient evil like.

I'd say that's pretty accurate.

not the first time, peter jackson also use it to Audiate lothorien choir (the wood elves)

i dunno, maybe because ancient adversary story is very prevalent in middle east folklore

With the main antagonist of Hearts of Stone in mind, I guess using a tune that brings up images of an ancient enemy is appropriate seeing as what the antagonist seems to represent.
From what I can recall, Gaunter O'Dimm seems to represent the Faustian devil in the setting of the Witcher who facilitates Faustian bargains that backfire on the one who makes the bargain. The build-up throughout the main quest-line and subsequent reveal of O'Dimm's true nature was quite well-done.
From that angle, the music does evoke the right kind of imagery for such a being.

There are probably other reasons for using such music though...
like the Ofieri who have a Middle Eastern aesthetic of sorts.

I'm going back and forth between Baldurs Gate 2 and Medieval 2 Total War.

I haven't played BG2 since I was probably 12 or 13 and I'm finding it a lot less challenging than I remember it being. I can't decide if it's because I'm not a retarded adolescent anymore or if it's because Beamdog fucked with the balance in their "Enhanced Edition".

After 15 hours in Dark SOuls II: SOTFS i have started to like it. The map design is poor (some areas look like being done in the Source engine or Unity) and compensated by enemy overpopulation, and a lot of "Trash mobs" are litteral trash, but i can see now the charm of it; as i see it, combat is a bit more demanding, and succesful resource management brings to success. Bosses were fairly easy, but cool enough to not be just "Super-Mustache mobs". Noice.

This is one series I can't understand or get into. It just looks like a bunch of boss fights one after the other. Never played it though.

Like Yahtzee said, you'll have to get a lot of rakes on the face (ala Sideshow Bob), get to the midgame, and then decide if you are enjoying yourself or not.
If you have to enter to the series somewhere, do NOT enter through Dark Souls 2, do so through the first one (not Demon's Souls, that is maybe like the Wasteland 1 of the franchise) or BloodBorne.
About understanding, everyone has their thought on it. A friend played it through along me, and he played it like Borderlands and/or Skyrim; just wanting to kill more bosses, get the best numbers on his gear (it's a pleasure to min max later, but in the first play-through it kinda breaks the illusion and slaying bosses in 8 hits ruins the point) and thinking that the devs just wanted to f*ck with him . I like to take my time, stare at scenery, explore the crap out of the map and challenge myself with new builds, while making my own hypothesys on the Lore.

I'm with you on that, mate. For me, Dark Souls is one of those games that has never interested me. I acknowledge that it's a really well made game but it just never grabbed me.

The Metal Gear franchise is another one like that. Everybody goes crazy over it but I'm just left feeling "meh". Maybe there's something about Japanese game design philosophy that fails to resonate with me, I don't know.

Decided to try out Necropolis. It's a rogue-like with Dark Souls-inspired combat and a pretty cool art design. It's got a great deal of humor as well, almost to the point of ridiculousness. Every single lore-text, item-description, narration line etc is a punchline. There's real permadeath, once you die you're dead. If you play with a friend (up to 4 players total) they can revive you within 30 seconds, however. You can unlock some things that will carry over to the next game, ie colors for your character and codices you can purchase, which will give you bonuses you kinda have to figure out for yourself (and of which you can only have one equipped at a time).

It's pretty fun, if only rather repetitive. Pretty easy at first but ramps up a but later on. On my first game I survived for about 3 and a half hours (I think a full run is supposed to take about 6 hours). Died because of lousy controls. Not sure the game is worth the almost 30 euro/dollars on Steam right now, but if they patch it up good and keep adding content so that there's new things to discover and a reason to keep replaying it, then I foresee great things with this game.

Just beat Braccus Rex in Divinity: Original Sins, with a 2 man party (well, one of them is woman, but anyway). I'm not sure if this game is meant to be played with a 4 man party, or if it's just this hard on normal. In either case, it's pretty damn fun, even though i did whisper a few curses when our fight ended with one of my party member dead, and the other one being 1 hit away from death, as was Braccus. So the fight was decided on the this last strike which my char missed... Then, after a few tries, i managed to defeat him without too much potions or scrolls, but i'm kind of impressed with enemies in this game trying to avoid your traps, sometimes out of the blue changing their aggro towards your mage char, which caught me completely out of guard, and just being kind of crafty with their skills. The A.I is much better than i would have expected it to be.

Now then, i continue my fight with some drunk goblins!

Braccus Rex was a nightmare to fight but man did it feel good to finally beat him and his four servants. I do advise carrying a bunch of barrels around for future levels though. One could be surprised by how versatile an oil barrel can be.
