I've sent an invite, but I will probably be playing only tonight and tomorrow during the day. After that I'm taking a break from video games because of exams and shit.
Once that shit is over, however, I'll be playing this baby a lot.

Well I just finished the Shadowgate remake from a couple years ago. Pretty good. Had to use a pen and a notebook to take notes so that was kind of cool and a nice throwback to ye olde times. So that put me into a mood to play point and click adventure games. I am not going to play for the first time I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. I have the short story and quite like it so I am looking forward to experience. I have only ever seen the intro to the game so it's a total blind play through.

It's good. It's got a lot of heart and the focus in mobility keeps the otherwise kinda lame (IMO) XCOM-y gameplay fresh. Upgrading your party feels satisfactory, and even more so because of the upgrade points being assigned to each unit separately even if they haven't been used so that you can change them in a pinch.

Now the Rabbids aren't the hugest issue. It seems that across the game you can relegate them more and more, due to replacing your party with Mario characters, having their role become just filling the enemy ranks, whose designs also get more interesting as well.

If there was to be one, I guess it'd be the dialogue...? But seriously, who gives two shits about the dialogue in a crossover game "for kids". It even has some other good lines.
Based on where I am and how the hub looks like, it might be kind of short? Seems to be well enough, though.

EDIT: Any game that gives Peach a blunderbuss is contestant of GOTC

Speaking of Pokemon, a good friend of mine is still playing that Pokemon Go thingy. He is 24-years-old and is still walking around the city catching pocket monsters with 12-year-old kids. He is going to fail his studies because of that, but I guess being among top ten players in the 50km radius is somehow important.

I never really got why Go became so popular. Then again I am no longer a student so I can't go around the city on a week day.

Well, it was a novel experience I guess and it was the closest you could ever get to really catching Pokemon I suppose.

I played it for a like a week whwn it came out. Got bored of watching the same 5 mons everyday and how it forced you to catch hundreds of the same mon just to evolve it once.
Retook it recently when they apparently introduced gen 2 mons... got bored 3 days later and my bag glitched out and the only fix was to spend 15 dollars on an imaginary bag... never open it again.

That reminds me that I can now Run Withcer 3 with Hairworks on and still runs at 60fps.

It's a glorious feeling, isn't it?

Too bad that game has very poor gameplay. It's fun the first time round, until some point, and then it becomes boring.
Awesome side-quests tho, and some parts of main quest.

I think that in between the good writting, interesting quests and great presentation the mediocre gameplay is placated a bit. Maybe fighting a Dragon in this game is just as shallow as in Skyrim but it doesn't feel like muppets flailing at each other so it's more enjoyable.

Except that there are no dragons in TW3.

But yeah, you're right. The fact that gameplay sucks is alleviated with all the good stuff.
My biggest beef with TW3, however, is the main quest, which really has many issues. But I don't want to get into that now, dunno how far you got with the game, so I don't wanna spoil it for you or anybody.

Also, if you find the game easy or lacking, look up Ghost Mod.

I already beat it once, unfortunately
My Ciri died because I mansplained her too much

I liked the main quest as individual segments but I do think that as a whole it's a bit underdeveloped by the end.

Edit:
Well I retook Witcher 3, managed to finish Heart of Stone despite finding it utterly boring. No idea why people like Heart of Stone so much, feels like you are being held by the hand too much, sure the quests are imaginative but the story justification for them is just uninteresting. Neither O'dim or the immortal hipster guy felt interesting and they just impose themselves on the story very shoddily setting up a situation where I just have to run errands for him. There is forced Gwent in one of those wich already gets negative marks from me, but I guess I do get the option of telling an NPC that I don't like Gwent so eh....
One of the things I disliked the most about HoS and that turned me off immediately was that they cocktease you with the promise of visiting a new land to answer for your murder of the frog prince but they quickly do away with it and just have you run quests on the vanilla map, felt a lot like a Quest mod, down to it even feeling more simplistic and hand holdy than the main game. The ending was also pretty anti climatic, O'dim never felt like anything other than a generic villain with Vague Over Powered abilities.

Now starting up Wine and Blood and I am already liking it, new land, I am already running Witcher quests like finding critters and investigating, very nice change of scenery and the characters are at least funny. Let's hope it keeps up like that.

Well, running the errands for them is the basic idea behind all the "deal with the devil" stories, isn't it? You dance to the devil's tune, and there's no other way to it.
Not sure how you the characters dull. GOD is basically the best villain in The Witcher game series - I'm pretty sure that he is the best presentation of a classic Mephistopheles character in any video game. Olgierd may seem hipsterish, but he is based on Cossacks aesthetically, so the hipster haircut makes sense (I assume that's what you mean by hipsterish). His backstory is kinda confusing tho, chronologically at least, but overall is one of the best side characters stories in TW3, right up there with the Bloody Baron.
Gaunter and Olgierd are hardly imposing on the story...it's basically Geralt imposing on their story, and you're powerless against the two. Gotta do as told. Unlike most games where your hand is being held and you're arbitrarily led in a defined direction, in HoS there is a legit reason for that, as well as a reason why you can't say no.
The cocktease is not a cocktease really...simply because there was never any info that DLC would have a new map(unlike BnW), nor would it make any sense for Geralt to visit Ofier (for one, it has absolutely nothing to do with Velen or the main story of TW3, and it's not present in Sapkowski's works - developing a whole new region, culture, characters, quests etc. for the sake of one DLC is not very practical - you could say BnW is that, but on the other hand most of the things there, characters and themes, are already present in the books, and everything (including marketing) suggested it is a post-ending scenario, so it's connection to the main story is not needed). Besides, the whole cocktease lasts for like 5 minutes.

BnW was a disappointment for me. Too many little details I didn't like, but what I found the real issue was that the overall story wasn't that good (it wasn't bad, but was stuff that I will mention ruined it), CDPR kinda screwed up with their villain, many of the side quests are really dull (but there are a few brilliant ones too) and like in the vanilla, there's a sense of urgency throughout the main story that neither Geralt nor anybody else seems to care about. Suspension of disbelief is not one of CDPR's strongest suits, and if vanilla failed at proving that, BnW cemented that fact. It's a great DLC and well-worth its price, but I liked HoS more. It was tightly knit, trimmed of fat and fluff, and right on point. Well, little of the fat HoS had sucked hard, but at least there was little of it. BnW's fat was better, but it had too much of it.

HoS biggest flaw, in my opinion, is its chronological placement within the story of TW3, at least if you RP just a tiny bit. Storywise, I feel it should be completed before you leave Velen for Skellige, but the level requirement for it is endgame. Playing it after you come with Ciri to Novigrad makes no sense, (not to mention that just sailing from Skellige to Oxenfurt for teh lulz is kinda dumb and immersion-breaking) nor does playing it post-ending (IIRC when you start the DLC after the vanilla's ending, it basically says that the events you are about to see took place before the final battle).
BnW at least makes perfect sense, because it's supposed to be played after you defeat Eredin...unless you get a lousy ending, then it makes no sense at all, sucks to be you.

And that is why I have not played Witcher 3 yet. The gameplay in the series is not that great.

The gameplay of the series is weird.
First game has a repetitive gameplay, but is actually very good if you play it on high difficulty. It requires good use of stats and combat is not a simple clickfest as it is one lower difficulties. Not going to argue that in its core battle mechanic is any good, but the rest of the stuff (alchemy, leveling, upgrades, inventory etc.) are great.
TW3 is a strange beast. It's combat is very good on paper, but sucks in practice once you're past level 10. You get OP way too fast and the enemies vary mostly on their HP pool, not much else to it. Character skills are also poorly done. There are some saving graces to it, but not much. Luckily, CDPR offers full mod support, and some of those really fixed the game.

Second one is just utter shit. No idea what they were thinking. I guess they played Souls way too much and tried to adapt its combat, but failed miserably.

You probably heard this before, but read the books.

Well I bought the Witcher 3 complete edition last year so I had zero contact with the marketing for the DLC so no way for me to take that into account when playing it. I just took a couple of months hiatus from playing Witcher 3 because Heart of Stone really bored me.
To me the archetype of the generic Mephistopheles villain is dull, I find no excitement in stories like that. Just found him uninteresting and I was so tired of HoS that I looked up on his riddle because I just wanted to be done with it so I could try Blood and Wine. The quest inside the portrait was interesting but, from what I saw in the vanilla game, it just seems like a gigantic asspull that clashes with what magic is supposed to be able to do. I don't know if my attempts at choosing the more merciful or clever ways to accomplish Olgfried's tasks had any effect on anything.
You say he is on the level of the Bloody Baron but I really despised that guy, took every opportunity in the vanilla game to antagonize him and not let him have the last word on anything so I am not fond of that character either.

Like I said, it just felt like a big quest mod, and I had already explored a lot of the map doing contracts, destroying nests and searching the Witcher gear so I was just revisisting the same places.

I like the Lennon glasses you get in the Auction tho.

So far I am liking Blood and Wine, the Ducchess is a cool character, I don't know how to feel about the Vampire element yet but I am at least interacting with more characters already, I have new Contracts to hunt critters and I wanna try my hand at them later.

I won Witcher 3 in a contest; so I never really looked at the advertisements. Sadly, I've had W3 installed since day 1, and haven't left the tutorial map; I doubt I've played it thirty minutes. It's just too much like Witcher 2. :(

As far as Mephisto goes...personal preference, I guess. I myself am a fan of Faustian stories, Goethe's Faust I being one of my favorite books, and I appreciated seeing Devil get a proper presentation in a video game that goes beyond the banal horned demon. The archetypal story is very old yet so often poorly done. CDPR managed to make a believable one, if you ask me.
As far as magic goes, Sapkowski's take on magic differs from games' take on magic which differs from specific character groups' take on magic and so on and so on. HoS itself is somewhat of a lore breaker - never has there been a presentation of Devil or omnipotent figure in books (well, there was, once, kinda, but it was very minor) or in previous games - so you can say that the way goetia works in HoS is not "canon". However, CDPR made it quite natural in my opinion, since the tale is basically a part of a medieval Western Europe folklore.
The fact that you aren't fond of Bloody Baron speaks of his quality as a character - I myself didn't like him either - but I appreciate the fact that CDPR wrote a character that made me care enough to dislike him for what he is, and not for what he could have been. I also disliked Olgierd a lot (even though I saved his ass), but that doesn't change my appreciation of the character.

As far as revisiting the same places goes...you're kinda wrong on that one. HoS actually expanded the map. Basically, almost everything norther of Vegelbud Residence was added in HoS. Not quite, but a fair number of characters, areas and monster have been added. Nothing big. I have to remind you tho that HoS is supposed to tie in with the main story - I've explained the chronological placement in the previous post.

Enjoy Blood and Wine. Vampires are a major part of that expansion, but aren't anything new since they were present in the books in and around Toussaint. In any case, expect more vampiric stuff.

I personally grew weary of Contracts at some point, generally speaking. Not because most of them play the same, but because I lost any incentive to do them. My Geralt has 30,000 in gold, why should he risk his life against some basilisk for mere 300 coins?
But I digress...

I won Witcher 3 in a contest; so I never really looked at the advertisements. Sadly, I've had W3 installed since day 1, and haven't left the tutorial map; I doubt I've played it thirty minutes. It's just too much like Witcher 2. :(

It's far better than TW2. Has its own share of flaws, but way better made and more enjoyable, at least in terms of gameplay.
