Well I have been giving Bioshock Infinite a try.
It starts with a rather long introduction scene and it quickly makes the illusion of choice clear such as with that raffle and deciding at who to throw the ball, carnival barker or the couple. I think one way or another this is an automatic 'lose' situation.
So now I have to fight enemies and while the shooting is functional it feels pretty slow though that is rather common with this series.
The vigors are pretty much the plasmids from the first couple of Bioshocks so nothing new there either.
What I notice the most is how streamlined the game now is. You can't carry any medkits with your or bottles to replenish your special powers, nor can you manually save any more which is rather annoying.
Well it seems that it doesn't really matter, get killed and respawn somewhere nearby.
The city looks nice but it is clear from the get go that we never get to visit any of these distant buildings and building blocks.
Om the opposite the models of the characters are pretty ugly, I think even for the time these models were already outdated. Some of the NPCs just have this dead stare on their faces.
I think I just encountered a bug that has prevented me from collecting a vigor after I killed a mini boss.
I look at this from ten years after the release, but other than the setting I think technically wise this game is actually a step back on Bioshock 1.
Well at least I have been able to try it for myself so I can compare it.
Think I will go back to Starcom Nexus.
