General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Arcanum, oddly for reasearch into Steampunk as my final Uni project is steampunkish.
Forgot how tough it is for low level techies to get by in that game.

Thinking about Mass Effect next. Comments?
Play it with the mentality of you are playing a TPP shooter rather than an rpg. It won't seem so dumbed down and disappointing then.

yeah, as an rpg is falls a bit short. but I really enjoyed it, mostly for the story, setting and dialogues. expect more of an interactive sci-fi movie than a roleplaying game, that's all.

started playing the darkness. it's pretty good, except for that part at beginning where you are being chased by that damn chopper!
i also finshed battlefield: bad company and i must say that i am really disappointed with the ending, i expected much more.

Diablo: Hellfire.
Well hoo-eey, they weren't joking back in '98 when they said this expansion blows a fat one. Only more reason to never trust ignoramuses on the internet, when an ectoplasm suggests to me that Hellfire is any good on a board, he is not to be trusted.

Just beat Dead Space on impossible with only the plasma cutter, wow did that get frustrating at times, anyhow, nothing in that game really scared me up until the ending, but even then it didn't really scare me, just made me kinda jump. XD

Now I'm also starting FEAR 2, I'm liking it quite a bit, the first FEAR didn't creep me out at any point, nor did Perseus Mandate, Extraction Point did a bit, but Project Origin is actually getting there.

Started my first ever stupid Fallout 2 character.. Metzger just tricked my Grok into becoming a slaver by offering him a tattoo.
What a hillarious way to build a pure combat character.. Enjoying this a lot. Also the Torr bit was awesome.

I should really convince myself to try that build instead of my god knows how many replays as a diplo/sniper... I have this horrible tendancy to redo games exactly the same way i did before (Deus Ex among them)...

Also, finally got the grip on Jagged Alliance 2, after not being sold right away, i find it really enjoyable now. And maybe a good way to cure that goddam maniac replay exactitude.

That's what I was usually was doing until now.. I was going to go for Luck 10/Jinxed/Melle Weapons too, but couldn't let go Small Guns just now, hence "dumbed down" sniper instead. Fast shot trait made sense, given that Grok kant do tuu big taktiks, no shuut eye mov e ment tuu konfuzing..

Far Cry 2

I actually have been having a lot of fun with it. I'm just a huge sucker for open world games.

I am playing REmake right now. Toying with the idea of beating all the Resident Evil games in order before RE5 is released. The "main" ones at least. Those crappy FPS and gameboy games do not count.

I found it quite boring because it was always like this: Drive from point a to point b. kill person x and ...
it really got boring after a while and the story wasn't really interesting.

I have been playing Prey for a couple days on and off. It's....okay.

I do like the opening sequence with the UFO, the jukebox kicks on Blue Oyster Cult whilst the main character, his beloved, and granddaddy are taken from their Indian reservation. Tho' playing this why am I so reminded of Turok with Doom 3 graphics? Oh. That's because that's what it is pretty much.

It's okay thus far. I really hate the fact I cannot die. Tommy bitches more than he should. Some of the guns are neat looking but not really unique in any way. The enemies are not even that tough.

It's super sub par thus far.

I bought Siren blood curse the other day. I was craving some horror and basically it was a choice between this and dead space.

Ive quite liked it so far. Its a sneaking horror game( imagine Splinter cell an silent hill mix) but it has some shortcomings. Controls are good for sneaking and sneak-killing monsters but when you need to kill multiple targets(with guns, only way to match more than one monster) youre fucked. Luckily this doesnt happen often as youre usually rewarded for going unnoticed. Also story can seem somewhat confusing at times as it has been divided to episodes where you play with different characters, so the story focus changes quite often(there is 12 episodes)

But what makes this good horror game is that your usual enemies are actually quite tough. You can never completely kill them, only knock them down (tho they stay down for some time). Using flashlight in pitch black is necessary but im often scared to use it as monsters can spot me from far away. Some of em change their spots and do patrols. To help you. you have a special ability to see trough the eyes of shibito(monsters) and memorise their spots and find clues where to go next.

Okay. I just played the Blood demo. Shareware. Whatever it's called. Anyways. I love this game. It is pure mindless fun. I only get the first chapter unfortunately, with no cut scenes. Plus the sound is choppy. I think it's because it's really dated and you have to use DOSBox. Which I don't because it ran slow as molasses in January.

I must buy a full version of it. Better than Duke 3d. Better than Doom. Just my opinion tho'.
