General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

Anno 1503, came with a pc mag. I suck at it. I'm unable to maintain a stable economy, I always run out of gold. I'm still playing the first mission of the campaign.

Folklore

Hack n slash with -capture the monster to summon it- type of gameplay, with slight rpg elements mixed in.
I got it for 10e and its pretty much worth that price, i like the overall fairytale visual style and musics.
Story is ok, not the most usual stuff but dialogue is quite bad at times

I still had more fun with it than Fc2 wich was ultimately years worst dissapointent. I actually liked it at first but playing it became very cumbersome with time, as i noticed how little imagination had been used for designing its missions. Seriously.
I havent played trough that one yet and i paid full price for it ...

Yeah L4D is addictive. I didn't like it much when I first played it but now I absolutely love it, which is quite a performance for Valve since I never ever play online.

Fallout 2, just about to blow Metzger away now that I am armed with my trusty .223 and have lifted the bridgekeepers robes. I had almost taken out the whole bunch of them last night but the game froze just as I was killing the last couple.

I'm also playing X-Com and U r - Quan Masters a wee bit on the side.

Call of duty world at war and Fallout 2. I'm playing a melee weapons/throwing weapons character. With killap's patch.

Finishing my very first complete Arcanum runthrough. I tried it two or three times years before, but i always got bored at the middle of it. Sometimes the size of the towns to explore is so huge that i keep sobbing having to move around those clunkily moving characters. Oh, and combat does feel a bit like lawn mowing.

But! it manages to be an awesome game. I always wanted to like it, and i think i just finally got into it. Playing as an evil elf mage, with lots of persuasion skills. I can then appreciate the amount of work put into the dialogues, both in length and quality.

It will join the Fallout series in the list of very few games i deign give replays...

After this and Vampire: Bloodlines this november, i'll have to join the long procession of mourners, crying the lost of Troïka Games.

Just finished an X-Com run through on Genius, I shoulda picked Superhuman because it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be and now I have to go back to it again some day. (oh noes! ;) )

I guess the demo for Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is out, gonna go take that for a spin

Just in case you never realized it, you can bring up the minimap and set waypoints, there's a limit but it's enough to get you from one side of Tarant to the other. I agree that the running around can get a little cumbersome after awhile, great game though.

Oh it's even worse when, after having set all your waypoints through the town, you get mysteriously stopped by a moving guard, and have to set them up again...The biggest matter anyway is Tarant, with its many canals and too few bridges which force you to make lenghty detours. Landmarks would help naturally orientating yourself too.

Boiling Point, one of the best shity games i ever played. Badly optimized with wagon of bugs, it's the only game that allows you to shoot half-naked Indians on speed and tequila, while working for the cartel and the communist guerrilla.

Yeah at first I was going through the single player campaigns because I have a aversion to playing online. Then I tried versus and got hooked instantly.

Played through the Resident Evil 5 demo with my brother-- getting used to those controls after an hour of L4D was quite a change.

Silent Hill 2

It's amazing how much they borrow from almost every major horror movie and book from the past 40 years, and still manage to turn it into a unique piece of art.

I finished the original Dune last night and enjoyed it a lot. It was short and simple, but represented the story very well without being linear which is a complete surprise.

I finished X-Com today my second playthrough. First time was on beginner and second was on experienced. I had to try it a second time to do a few things I missed the first time (the first play through was me just trying to survive long enough to get to the last mission and win). I won't play it again since I'm sure I've done every and anything I could.

Now back to NWN the original campaign.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Fallout 3 with mods and S.T.A.L.K.E.R OL 2.2 on and off. After trying out RA3 I went back to Generals ZH Shockwave mod, sorry nice try but no dice.

It's kinda obvious but I fell back into Battletoads.
I forgot how much fun yet frustrating it is.

Holy christ whoever designed that bomb level needs to be smacked for that. Not really but Jesus. The game itself is already tough but catching that third rat is hard as hell. So far that's as far as I'm getting this go around.

This is probably the only game I love to pause to go to the bathroom. Catchiest pause tune ever.

Grabbed Jagged Alliance 2. Having played Fallouts and FOT, i always read how superior was combat supposed to be in JA2...So it was time to give it a try, GOG.com and all.

Can't say i'm hooked for now. While i kinda appreciate the cheesy 80ies action B-movie mood (damn the music you have on the laptop is spot on!), i feel terribly lost in front of the interface, even after reading the manual. And of course, the anguish of creating a character and composing a squad while you still barely get how stats will function when ingame. It seems i got used to those modern friendly learning curves...

I'm gonna try harder getting used to it, but i'd be curious to know if anyone had this first impression too.

Finished SH2, on to SH3.

They totally stole the 'Wheelchair in shaft of light' thing from Session 9. Session 9 totally stole the wheelchair thing from The Changeling.

I saw Diablo, diablo 2, and an expansion or something(some kind of Diblo 3 pack) at walmart yesterday for 40 dollars. I've never played it, but have heard and read alright things about it.

From what I've read, it sounds like that console Baldurs Gate set in hell: Hack n Slash and character building, something like that. Is it worth buying?
