^^^^ While I agree that ammo weighing nothing is a bit stupid, not everyone wants Fallout to be a Post-Apocalyptic/survival simulator. It sounds like a cool idea though.
I don't think it would bother people that the game would be hard though. I think it boils down to people not liking "simulation" games as much. Most people want to escape from reality.
There are lots of hard ass games out there that are very challenging. Ninja Gaiden being one example.
I hear you in all your points. I am just a sim minded gamer.

I feel you. The mods currently being developed should satiate your hunger for sim goodness.

Here is just a temporary (parameters not set in stone) tweak for anybody who wants to try it. I am waiting till I have advanced far in the game before I do all the weapons vital stats, weight, damage, spread etc etc but this is just one to play with in the meantime. The combat shotgun is now "Slug Shotgun". It fires a slug projectile. For those who don't know what that is it is a BIG singular bullet fired from a shotgun instead of the typical buckshot/scatter rounds. Make sure that talon merc doesn't hit you with it first or you'll be saying hello to your airborne severed limb, lol. It uses the 44 magnum sound since that is appropriately devastating sounding to match the destructiveness of it.

For those who don't know how to use simply put the file in you "data" folder in Fallout 3 directory then start the launcher select "data files" enable the file and go.

This discussion has left me with a question. Exactly when is the RL history and Fallout universe history split? We can see that the moon landing is after the reality split(Virgo lander not Apollo) but after the Lincoln memorial's completion in 1922. We see many 'Little Boy' style bomb references indicating it is post-WWII, and of course the whole commie thing making it mid-1950's but the adoption of the 5.56mm which would be in the 60's and the 10mm was standardized in the 80's. They seem to be all over the place when it comes to time lines and weapons.

Let me reply to the best of my ability. In the Fallout canon, there definitely was no US involvement in the Vietnam War.

The divergence was in the 1950s.

Are you sure? It would't surprise me if one of the consequenses of the divergence was a american victory in Vietnam.

What you mean is the timeline of "The Watchmen" not Fallout

Seriously, I would love to be able to pinpoint the reality split. The general style of everything is 50's, but they seem very hesitant to include any direct mentions of 20th century presidents, or anything else that give a clear idea of the time of the split.

If the Chinese became the main Red menace, what happened with the Soviets exactly? Is/was Cuba part of the US? Who was the last president before the timeline split?

I would also find this interesting, but I don't think they thought that in depth. Pretty damn detailed, but not THAT detailed.
