Hell is not frozen yet! (Diablo 3)

It`s gonna be awesome. Can`t argue with that. At first i was shocked by the comic-look graphics(i expected a gritty bloodstained look) but now i`m kinda used to it. 3D is a good choice to add more variety in armor/weapons/animations and also more modder friendly. Jay Wilson seems to love death animations, good guy... playing it will be worth just for those animations. The waiting will be painful. Very likely 2010. I`ll probably play SC2 untill it comes out.

Yea, this game can't come out soon enough. And clone of titan quest seems like BS since it was a clone of diablo 2.

Well maybe, but why buy another game if it just TQ? If for the mp, why not hit a mmo? I don't really get it

Because its done by the people that the TQ developers were trying to copy and so, the people who truly understand what they were doing. Blizzard are the ones who raise the genre to the next level, while the other developers try and copy them and tack on those features.

As for the mmo, getting diablo 3 saves me 180 dollars a year versus an mmo and a game that I can play without feeling obligated to due to the money I'm putting into it.

I wasted countless hours of my life playing and replaying Diablo 2, I'm afraid I won't be able to resist doing the same for this one.

Please, I say that about Diablo not being the same as it once was... and then I reinstall it and play it for 100 hours straight.

The game is still as addicting today as it was then. That's how good they developed it.

This thread has just made me install Diablo 2.

Bought the Battle Chest ages ago, but never got around to finishing it. Fantastic game. I don't see how they could screw up the third iteration either, it certainly looks solid from the videos so far.

Well I disagree. I personally loved Diablo 1 but found the graphic style of 2 (Comic style) rather bad. Anyways I played also a lot of Diablo 2. Talking about "the next level" seems rather odd, since the Diablo 2 did not have much new features. About the same level that TQ has over D2 I guess.
D3 can still be a nice game, but I don't understand the hype because it won't bring anything to a whole new level. Everything it seems to do has been done before, maybe even better (fx). It might still be lots of fun to play, but I don't see the revolution that would justify the hype

the assumption is that because blizz started it, they know how to finish the game style rather than having everyone else guess.

plus, blizz does have a huge track record of while maybe not graphically stimulating to all observers, their games do have a large reputation for being lowest-common-denominator AND being enjoyable. thats the hard part.

the first Diablo is one of the greatest games ever created. Diablo 2 was very entertaining but they made it too big and repetative imo. really looking forward to Diablo 3 but mostly for nostalgia.

While Diablo 2 lost some of the wonder of Diablo 1, it had the crucial addition of adding the ability to run. That alone makes the game a must-buy over Diablo 1 for me. That and the fact that the skills are done a lot better.

But the environment and scope of Diablo 1 are a lot better. It's actually very reminiscent of the Fallout series in cmparing the two games.

Man, I was hooked on the first game. Just pure mindless fun.

The second I mostly played to see the next cutscene, which are still fantastic.

Those blowdart fetish things. Most annoying thing in a game, ever.

I'm telling you guys D2 is all about B-Net...Once you get on you will be so hooked...I would still be playing it if I had an interwebs connection. Deployments suck.

it's funny, my first time through the game, I played entirely offline. But after loading up Battle.net, I never played single player again. I just didn't see a reason to.

And all of the bad guys in Act 3 were annoying pissants.

If anyone's interested in starting up diablo 2, maybe we should start a group on here lol.

I'm all for that, I have 3 weeks off from school. I need something to do. Let me know if you do this.

hah, the time is what I'm wondering bout too. Though I'm pretty much done with school as I just have to write my Master's Thesis this semester so I should be good.

Does anyone have any recommendations how to organize this?

Likewise to the above, I'm up for it too.

Never did battle.net before, though I imagine it would be pretty similar.

Well we might want to just organize this over PMs or AIM or something. Just so we don't have a topic in the forums that's just for a few people.
