Hopeful features in GTA IV

Seconds actually being seconds, no health bar (hence, realistic damage, people and vehicles included), non-scripted (as least, within quest-wise) consequential events such as worrying about leaving evidence of crimes (hence, having some heat on your tracks, hence getting rid of bodies, stolen cars, etc...) or consequential events on your health (smoking, alcohol, drugs, getting shot, losing limbs, going blind, etc...), fully, and realistically populated environments that fluxuate with time and events, more random events (not just weather-wise and random police chasing someone), npc non-scripted consequential events (npc(s) robs a bank and they have the heat after them on a daily basis, drug raids, sting operations, etc...), ability to fully customise your character, including career choices (basically, a much more involved and detailed version of SA's character customisation), ability to actually buy and own things and hence, lose them, get stolen etc... such as vehicles, weapons, etc...

That's all I could think of in a flash.

You do realise that you're talking about GTA, not CrimeSim 2000, right?

I say more shooting, killing and running people over with cars.

Less managing useless stupid shit like your own hoods and the stats of your character.

And I really do hope that the protagonist of GTA IV is not going to be like CJ... I mean, I liked Claude Speed, because he was neutral silent protagonist and I loved Tommy Vercetti, because he was one really cruel asshole and just wanted to be rich and powerful.

But CJ, oh Jesus... He wanted to make everything right in his old hood and protect his family... What a piece of shit background for a protagonist in a GTA game.

Fuck CJ, I hope he and his family are gonna burn in hell.

If CJ was white you would have been like “oh man CJ is my hero he was way cooler then that mute or that other money hungry asshole” I’m pretty sure there is a mode out there that could let you play as a white guy.

I also I really liked the Stats in SA and I really hope they will improve on it in the next addition to the series. The hood control and the Girlfriends were annoying in SA, that should be dropped.

Yeah, but how fun would CrimeSim 2000 be? Will Wright should drop Spore and get on that right now.

What's the difference? Rockstar is moving towards that direction with each sequel anyways.

GTA III: Go Lift Weights You Pudgy Bastard

However, if I had to pick just one hopeful feature I mentioned earlier, I'd say the consequential events one. Shooting someone in their home and then planting the gun of a crooked cop, who's on your trail, at the crime scene would be quite fulfilling. After all, no one likes a monkey on their back. I miss Porter.

My only problem with that idea is if the events all had to be scripted. If Rockstar were able to (or cared to) implement some sort of csi into the game, and you could frame people, that would be great. Of course, at this point, we might as well ask that they make GTA an RPG.

Compare GTA 1 with GTA III: SA and you'll notice that's what Rockstar has been doing. Next up, GTA IV: FPS *because it's the wave of the future, duhr.*

I hate GTA III. I liked GTA as a tongue-in cheak arcade game. As for serious games about "gangstas" - I like only those that involve gassing them.

A bit, but not too much. It's still kept largely humorous and tongue-in-cheek, even in San Andreas. It's also still not realistic in the slightest sense.

You got me there... I couldn't stand CJ, 'cause he was a nigger

But seriously, I think he was a weak character. Acting humanitarian in the cut-scenes, but killing a shit-load of hookers and torturing innocent people while under my control...

That's the problem with creating a real protagonist for series about committing random crimes in a virtual city.

He's inconsistent even in the cut-scenes. Remember how he helps out OG Loc by stealing Madd Dogg's Rhyme Book, only to betray Loc (someone from his own "hood") when Madd Dogg begins making his comeback? OG Loc should have just told Madd Dogg who really stole the rhyme book.

Claude (from GTAIII) on the other hand was believable in his inconsistencies. He was a mute lunatic who plays all sides and in the end takes everyone down and profits the most. A true selfish hero.

Your right CG was a humanitarian purging society of the black devils. But seriously if you consider him to be a humanitarian what does that make Martin Luther King just another minority?

Out of all the cut-scenes in that game what is the ratio between him doing something “humanitarian” to him doing some goon ass shit.

So thats not playing all sides for your own benfits?

Yeah but he never shuts up about bringing the family and the hood back together, even as he does the opposite. That's mostly what annoyed me about him, he talks way too much.

The protagonist in GTA3 was great.

"So, we need you go to X building, plant this chemical explosive in the foundation, strap at least a pound to each steel girder that holds up the building, now there are four of them, and the guards will know you're there - so you'll only have a minute or so. Did you get everything I said?"

*Nod*

"Will you do this mission?"

*Nod*

:D

The protagonist is called Niko Bellic. So... a Croat maybe? The two Ls in his last name are confusing me a little though. Any guesses?

I thought so too, but his cousins name is Roman, so I don't know. He's accent is more Russian than anything.

I think he's supposed to be generic Eastern European...

Well as long as he throws in a few phrases in his native language that I can understand I'll be happy.

Prvo će da ga bije. Posle će da ga kara!

Someone, name that quote!
