How did you discover Fallout ?

I got hooked on it about eight months ago. I know Rama Stryfe, so borrowed and gave it a try. After I diced my first kid, during a mission of Decker and found out that Doc Morbid was selling human flesh to Bob, I fell in love.

Fallout 2 was greater, though!!!

I prefer fallout 2 inspite of (or because of) its huge size and crazed overload of dark humour. Both games are excellent though and the differences between them are one of the things I find most appealing.

Hi, first of all. :)

I got to know FO like some of the others, through the Junktown Demo which was on PC Magazines at the time. Tbh I wasn't immediately hooked. I did like it, like when the people got riddled by the SMG but thought it was merely a Jagged Alliance clone located post apoc, not more and forgot about it.
Till a few years later FO1 came along free with a PC Mag I was reading. Memories were good enough and I hadn't played a turnbased game in quite some time so I installed and played it. That did it for me.
What impresses me most nowadays is how fast I got into the game and loved it. Can't have been further than the access of the cave or when hitting on Shady Sands. Somewhere in between the message "For the first time in your life..." and being able to move on the worldmap as I pleased. That was more or less unpresidented at the time and is still very rare to this day.

After finishing Fallout1 I bought a Gold Games pack with FO1 and FO2 amongst some 30 other games. Remember the only thing that really bugged me was that the FO versions were localized ones so they had no splatter scenes, that kinda sucked. But I couldn't resist playing them through all the same. Some months later I bought an imported FO double set (inc. gore :) ) which was expensive at the time, round about 55$ but I never regreted it and never stopped hoping for a Fallout 3.

Lovely memories but sure looks fucked up in that regard.

P.S: Why aren't some acronyms (p-p-l) and email addys not allowed? :?

First saw 'Fallout' in a gaming TV show back in the old country. One of the worst presentations they ever did (that, and bad reception); I couldn't understand what was so exciting about it they put it on the show.

Then I saw the walkthrough and hints in the magazine, and it all sounded so cool I made a mental note to grab it when I find it.

So when I came back from a short visit to England, I brought with me a copy. I remember being put off by a few things, namely the slightly annoying combat and IIRC a lot of scrolling that had to be done.

I still have the box, although it's now used to store an assortment of drugs and medications. Still have the disk (I also bought the US release just a few months ago), and the manual (not the spiral-bound one).

They took out the gore!?! How is that possible?

hey fellow fallout fans! im new here so this is my first post.

i saw Fallout 1 in EB for $14.99, the reason i noticed it was b/c my dad gave me 15 bucks to get a game. then i looked on the back and saw that guy in leather armor going to town on that Radscorpion with the Flamethrower. thats when my heart was sold. i bought it and went home and then got Fallout 2 right after that, then blazed through taht and onto Fallout Tactics. i joined the Khans clan in Fallout Tactics and have been devoted to Fallout ever since. right now im playing Fallout 2 over again :D

And remember to spread the word always! To create more and more Fallout fans is the best way to improve the chances to see FO3 come to life!!!

let me see..

well i discovered FO2 1st.. just found the box art cool.. that 's like.. erm.. lemme see.. in 1998? i was 12 then...

never managed to got past the temple of trials cus i din know i was supposed to find the plastic explosive and blow the darn door up, thus the dame disc was left to rot somewhere..

it was until 2002 when i first got my internet connection when i started to play FO2 all over again.. been enjoying it ever since.. even went all out to secure myself another genuine copy of FO2 (which is hard to come by from where i come from)

You see Fallout is similar to the Terminator series in that the originial is considered the greater piece of work. But, the sequel has the wider crowd pleasing power.

Let's see i first came in contacto with Fallout in it's first version, i saw a friend of mine playing it bout'... dunno five years ago or so and i remember thinking to my self "a gun to kill a bunch of rats? that's laaaaame" and never came to my mind that later on, in a pc games magazine review, i would encounter the greatest, funniest, richiest game i have ever played in my WHOLE existence (wich isn't really something) that was Fallout 2 and my very first RPG.
I played it a lot, i still continue playing it from time to time, mainly becouse in the past i didn't knew how to finish it, i simply couldn't find the mother f*cking main frame (kept thinking it was on the elevator-only-accesible-way room with double wall around it) so i should had finished it about 11 times before i decided to search for a guide and *realize* it was a more than accesible frame (i still don't know how to get in that god forsaken room).
Anyhow, i got so addicted to it that i got Fallout 1 y finished it in about 14 hrs of straight playing, of course i did not made my best on my xp search and world search but it was enough to wrap it up.
Later on i installed win XP and never played it again, i have reasons to believe u guys have an answer to my problem, yo're about to become my saviors.

FIrst time! I think that was beyod there when i was hooked up on QuaKe2 , so i found accidentally on hard drive(Of my friend of cource) The Fo2.I Played a bit And Rest is .... History
Cherrio!

really interesting storie for me:

FO1 came out ages ago, i went to the store and guess what? i bought it! whohhohohoho

anyhow, been addicted to it from the start

i first played fallout 2 wich i got from a friend. later on i got to know that he had fo1 too, so i tried that...has been addicted ever since...

It was late '99 and I was in a mates room in halls at Uni. He had Fallout on his computer and was playing somewhere near the Necropolis. I asked to try so he showed me how to make a character Max Anton was re-born (he was first created as a smugaler in the Star Wars d6 RPG). That night I led Max all around the wastes whislt my friend watched, got bored fell asleep and then woke up agian for his morning lectures. I'd just played on all through the night. Ten or so hours later I went to go home but ended up walking into town to buy the game for myself. I could only find Fallout 2 so I bought it and loved it! For the next week or so I played and played and lost all touch with my friends and Uni, 18 hour stints were my speciality. Only leaving my screen to sleep and eat whilst my house mate enjoyed the few hours I allowed him to play. I've still never finised it, as in the begining my game was really bugged and I had to start over again and again. Then I was forced back in to real life by exam retakes and having to leave the country for a year. Since then I've never managed to install again as Graduation came by, then a new house and starting a career. Yesterday I saw FO:BOS (I gather I should call it FO:POS) and bought it to get a quick fix. I can't play it until I've finally got to unpacking in to this house so just to warm myself up I hunted down this sight.... Last 12 hours has truly rekindled my love of Fallout 2, I've put a bid in for Fallout on e-bay and I've bought it so I guess I'll go ahead and disapointidly play FO:POS when I have my PS2 out again.

I loved finding the Buck Roger a-like... Just loved it

Yep, government here thinks it's their duty to protect us (apparently the youth but it more or less goes for all) from pixelar scenes of violence, might result in us running amok afterall. There is a link you see.
They've forced companies to censor several games over the years, Halflife for instance was realeased with robots instead of soldiers, scientists just sitting down and shaking their heads when "dying", green blood in System Shock 2 etc etc. Some games were even taken apart that much that it didn't make sense releasing them in the first place, like Doom for instance. Much easier to blame video games afterall than social or family structures.
Thankfully most gorecensoring was (and still is) easy to bypass with commands in config files or by using bloodpatches. Since you're required to prove your age nowadays when buying online or by phone, censorship has lessened somewhat which is good i guess.

Well,a friend of mine(he takes part in this forum and his name is Daron)told me that he had a very interesting role game and he told me the story about it.I was very interested and on the next day I bought the Fallout 2 CD.
