How did you end OWB?

Talk to Borous, he says that they were paid by corporate to test on "unsuspecting AMERICANS!" Test cities they refer to them as.

I may be wrong but I think the only people they were allowed to experiment on were people who asked for it (usually unknowingly) like Sinclair. They didn't just have free reins to do whatever the hell they wanted to people, and they weren't quite as insane then.

Stick to your guns and your friends, Mobius aparently grew a heart from knowhere and lobomised them to keep them stuck in an endless loop whilst the Biogel slowly erroded them; hardly the way to treat fellow compatriots.

Letting a few people who should already be dead in the first place slowly die is a lot better than allowing them to kill countless innocent people just for the hell of it.

Talk to Doctor Zero, he says that they asked permission... usually; he mentions small, remote communities. They had free rein I believe, they were in the Government's pocket (the whole point is that the war corrupted Big MT's original mission).

I was arguing whilst I personally killed Mobius, because he was a turncoat; his reasons don't concern me. I liked the Think Tank, Mobius did things to them which I don't approve of, Mobius dies.

If they did have free rein then they were at least exercising some control, the same could not be said about their insane two-hundred year old counterparts who blow things up "because they get bored".

I didn't seem to have an option NOT to kill Mobius. During the final chat with him, the only option I had to finish the dialog was something like, "And I'm here to kill you now".

I wonder what I did differently to limit my options. I retrieved my brain and partnered with the Think Tank.

I wasn't able to understand Dr. 8 - was there something special that let you do that?

My intelligence, science and medicine are all maxed out. :\

I convinced my brain to rejoin me.
Spared Mobius since he's so cool.
And I convinced the think tank I was mobius.
Maybe it's because I have dogs, but Borous's story of Gabe really got to me. Made me feel guilty for killing Gabe.

On Mobius, you don't have to finish the dialogue with 'kill you now', just say 'goodbye'. If you didn't have that option, then something must have glitched. You can't really limit your options regarding Mobius.

On 8, if you have a high intelligence and/or science, if you use up ALL initial dialogue options (i.e. the questions you can ask him), your character will realise what is going on (and you will be given a few checks- from afterward your character will 'translate' what he is saying).

From the Vault:

Bugs

* If you talk to Mobius after defeating the giant roboscorpion, you may be forced into killing him, as you can only end the conversation with "enough, I came here to kill you." This can be avoided if the player has a repair skill of 75, permitting the player to repair the "ghosting" in his optical sensors. This will open up the conversation to leave him be without killing him. However, the player can still kill Mobius if they so choose.

The think tank explain they put tesla coils in your head which would recieve the signal being emitted by your brain, allowing you to think and move but essentially being a seperate personality from your brain. I think thats what one of them said.

Convinced the think-tank to surrender, kept Mobius alive and make my brain get back in my head.

Did all the side quests for the think-tank and got all the upgrades for the sink, I essentially did everything.

It must've glitched, then. The only option I had was "kill you now".

I guess I got impatient and didn't try all the dialog options before giving up.

Thanks for the info!

Interesting. I killed the giant roboscorpion before talking to Mobius, but I also repaired the ghosting before getting to the point where it seemed like all I could do was kill him.

Thanks for the info, though.

Unfortunately I had this issue and was pretty pissed that my good guy couldn't end OWB peacefully. I also thought that you needed 75 Science to finish Dr. 8's quest, which my character didn't have, so I had to kill the think tank as well.

On the second play through (oddly enough on an evil character), I resolved things peacefully.

Wait a minute, you don't have to kill the giant roboscorpion before talking to Mobius? I mean you walk into a room and a giant scorpion starts attacking you, the first thought that pops into your head isn't exactly "I wonder if killing this will stop me from getting the good ending?".

It also seems to be kind of anti-climatic to just ignore the giant monster attacking you and talking to the bad guy instead.

I killed the Think Tank. It only made sense for me, as even if I would've spared them/made them surrender eventually some other guest could come there and they could've tried the same to escape. (besides that, the Option for them to surrender didn't even show up)

I convinced them that I had Mobius' brain in my body and scared them all into staying. I think I got the best ending and apparently "watched after Big MT for many years to come".

Left Mobius alive because he seem like a pretty cool guy, spared the think tank because someone needs to do SCIENCE, and convinced my brain that we need each other.

Though I am confused, your brain sends signals to the tesla coils in your head. So you're using your brain to talk to your brain which is using itself to talk to you.

what is this i don't even

Yeah, its a plot point me and some of the others on NMA have also been discussing.
I think it would have been better if they had dropped this plot device as it does not make sense other than a possible comedy element.

Perhaps it would have worked better if the player's memories had made some AI think it was the player, and that it was actually the brain the player talks to in the end.

In another, more difficult workable idea, the player is actually the brain in the jar, looking for his own body the Think Tank turned into a Lobotomite, using some kind of remote to take control of other Lobotomites and Y 17 Trauma Harnesses in order to find his body back.
All these characters would have different SPECIAL and skill stats, creating some diverse gameplay options.

I Spared everyone and personally loved the last sentence at the end of OWB: Now The Courier Has One Last Road To Travel....

sometimes. Just sometimes though. I would love Fallout to get ... not THAT much in to that "lulziness" just because its "50s pulp".

I actually loved the way Fallout 1 was kinda comedic sometimes but still rather "serious". particularly in the way how the "old world" (pre-war) was shown.

Would have been good if you ask me if they give you a chance to explore here a bit more history. news papers. old TV broadcasts. E-mails and more. I remember the Sierra Army Depot. I loved that location. Or something like the Glow. That was perfect. Very hard to reach. And full of "old things" yet "ruined". You learn things but with each solved quesiton you just get more. Like archeology. You want more to know about it. But you never can solve all mysteries.

Maybe from all the DLCs I would like OWB the most. But I kinda have some issues with Vegas alone (3D engines just dont age very well ...) and those games even with very good writting just have a bit TO much luzliness for my taste ...

Or I am simply starting to become old and grumpy. Like a ghoul. Yeah.
