How'd you get your username?

In most other forums I visit I'm know as Uwye. I picked originally when I signed on Napster a bazillions of years ago. Every username I tried to input was already taken and after a while I thought "why do I care for such a thing on Napster?" and just slammed my hand on the keyboard. My friends started calling me that in chats and the nick stuck.

The one I use now, well, Stanislao Moulinsky is a character in an old italian comic. A criminal that can disguise himself as anything (even multiple persons at once(?)), he's always caught at the end by the hero Nick Carter with the exchange:
Nick Carter: "No! This is not ___, but Stanislao Moulinsky in one of his best disguises!"
Stanislao Moulinsky: "Well yes, damned Carter, you have won again!"

Years ago I had for a while this stupid running gag with one of my chat friends (can't even remember how it started) where I entered the chat with a different name and then he would "unmask" my real identity with the aforementioned exchange. In that period I started using Stanislao Moulinsky as a second nickname.

When my english skills were not in best shape, i recall seeing a music video where they sang something along the lines of "whip it, whip it good" and i thought a combination of "ass" and "whip" would sound funny. Alas i didn't spellcheck the whip part and it turned into "asswiper", which is also funny, but not in the same sense. I used that until someone pointed it out to me. After feeling a bit strange i started to brainstorm new nicknames, but since i was attached to the last one, i thought of something a bit stupid and familiar sounding. It's also something that no one else would ever think to write down, so i guess it's unique in that way. So now, 8 years later i'm still using it and despite it not being the most witty thing in the world, and getting messages like "what's up", i still like it (i also like those messages  ).

I'm fascinated by molten rock and this:

3d is just random.

My FPS user name back in ~2000 for the Unreal Tournament mod Infiltration was daddymorbucks, like daddy warbucks from orphan annie. Shortened it to MoBucks after joining the MAD clan, Since Mad-MoBucks looked better along with the others in our clan. Mad-Hatter, Mad-Magician, Mad-Texan ect. ect. Our initial tag was something like -=)v(aD=- How retro that looks these days...

My name is a homage to Fernando Ramos Da Silva , the child actor in the film Pixote (1981). I watched this film when I was a child and it scared the shit out of me. Fernando Ramos Da Silva was murdered by the police in 1987, aged 19.

'alec' is my second name - after my grandfather Alec De Groote, who fought in the second world war. Having never fired a shot himself, he got hit by friendly fire...

I'm gonna guess, if his personality was anything like yours, the manner in which he was shot wasn't an accident. He knew the guys who shot him, right?

One never knows for sure, eh? Wouldn't even surprise me one bit, since he was a very dominant personality: horribly intelligent, incredibly handsome (and well aware of it), and always eager to rebel against unjustice, stupidity and authority.

Guilty of Being White is a song by an old DC punk band Minor Threat. There's been spoof versions like Guilty of Being Tight by Municipal Waste so mined is a spoof of the spoofs, Guilty of Being Trite.

I use the same username everywhere... though sometimes it is Willis P. Dunlevey if the message board will allow it.

Only one person has ever correctly guessed where it came from.

Apart from historical Mamluks, I was inspired by Europa Universalis 3 game where Mamluks are the number 1 player in the Middle East. I also like how the name sounds :P

Don't know in the rest of the world, but in Italy for some reason Mameluk ("Mammalucco") has gained the meaning of "dumb, inept". :P

To make sure I had a nickname that nobody would have used previously, and would stand out I made up a nonsense word out of random Sylables.

Like a baby.

Toront Rayne was a character I created in high school. It was originally written as Torrent Rayne, as in torrential rain, but I changed it to make that less obvious. People often think I am Canadian since Toront looks similar to Toronto, but that is not the case. I suppose some people mistake the meaning as Toronto Rain, but that is not the case either.

Mine used to be Farmerk as in Farmer K, a reference to Karl the drunken farmer of modoc/the den. He is the character I most identify with personally in the series.

Now it's Formerk. I forget why it was changed but it was hilarious at the time. Still kinda is too

Former K as in Formerly known by Farmer K. You know, like Prince did.

Hey that's the closest thing I've heard to how I came up with my name! High five!
