How'd you get your username?

I spent years reading NMA but was scared to join and I could not because of the e-mail requirement. NMA seemed to be a scary place filled with 1337 h4x0rz and mentalists lol.

When I got an e-mail address that I could register with I decided to use the most generic name I could think of so the scary NMA people would not be able to find me in real life. I chose Dude but that was gone so I added the 101 to indicate my 101 abilities at being a dude.

*NMA unleashes Roshambo*

and it always cracked me up when I joined the Brotherhood of Steel and they started referring to the PC as "Brother None".

I usually forget to name my characters whenever I replay Fallout, and every time I've seen that I've wondered if there was a connection.

Turns out I was right.

Edit: my username's origin should be pretty obvious, lel

I always used "Mad Max" as my online handle until joining Mplayer.com in the late 90's. Somebody else grabbed the nick so I simply added RW (for Road Warrior, obviously) at the end to create "Mad Max RW". Over the years nobody else in any other community or website used that particular variation of the name, making it unique to me. I know it isn't very creative but it stuck.

Jesus, I feel old as hell now. Why did I read this thread...

To make sure I had a nickname that nobody would have used previously, and would stand out I made up a nonsense word out of random Sylables.

So you weren't aware that valknut is a thing?

Great topic.

Mine has a pretty silly origin - "atom-killer" is originally derived from my friend's ignorance when he tried to somewhat poetically describe the nuclear weapon.

"It kills atoms, and they make a big boom." - or something like that. I can't really recall the event, but it was pretty dumb and hilarious.

When I joined the Vault few years back, I wanted something fallouty, but couldn't think of anything better - this came to my mind, but I decided to make it more kewl, so it was "killa" instead of the regular - I regretted it immediately. However, I later decided to use it as my username here and few other boards, mostly game related. Again, I regretted it, but eh, it stuck.
Since then I use it as a general username for most online games, for my Battle.Net, Steam etc.

On a side note, I previously used "papajohnny" or "papajohnny13", which is actually my father's idea back when he formed first household e-mail - his nickname is Johnny (and so is mine, subsequently - my sis added papa to the nick). I used it for sometime, few years, but not anymore. It's just in the e-mail address now.
There are few other usernames I used, but these 2 are the most prominent.

Dammitboy was the nickname given to me by my co-workers on the jobsite.

It's on all my tools and my job box.

When I worked highway my nickname was weyboy - - wey meaning jackass and boy being about the only English word they knew.

So I was JackassBoy.

Name reference?

Is Brother None's name a reference to the Guardians of Old in Wasteland? :? Or am I just too quick to assume? It's been bugging me the entire time I've been lurking.

Indeed. If you leave your name in Fallout blank, it is "None" and people in Fallout address you as None. If you then join the Brotherhood of Steel, your moniker becomes Brother None for the BoS. Hence.

But sure, it can also be a Guardian reference, haha. Convenient!

What about Kharn?

I have been meaning to ask you ever since you posted in that other moniker thread.

I know you don't go by that moniker any more but its quite popular.

That's actualy BN's given name. Here's his real photo:

So you're telling me that every time I go into a forum and see "Users browsing this forum: None" It's just Brother None stalking me ?

Oh, i see.

I never played Warhammer.

Warhammer dawn of war 1-2 are awesome. I was a command and conquer fan when i grew up but i've played the first DOW game more than any other RTS due to the last 2 expansions :P You should try them out if you like RTS's. The first one is base building where the second is more of a tactical game.

DammitBoy is that you in your avatar? That picture has always creeped me out.

The RTS are rather irrelevant to Kharn the Betrayer though, as it is a reference to the tabletop.
