I enjoyed Oblivion way more than Fallout 3

I feel the same way, because I can look past Oblivion's many faults and just play it as a meaningless time-waster, whereas FO3 keeps reminding me that it's supposed to be a sequel to some of my favourite games.

My flatmate also told me he couldn't stand FO3, but loves Oblivion, because he really loves fantasy stuff.

I run Oblivion with several mods that greatly enchance the game for me, while I can't really feel the same with Fallout 3 even with a bunch of mods.

Yeah, I'm playing Oblivion (just GOTY, no mods) and I find it more enjoyable and challenging than Fallout 3. I, too, just play it because I have absolutely nothing better to do. I suppose I enjoy it more because it doesn't completely destroy an already established unique franchise as Fallout 3 has done. :?

I don't like both games, but Oblivion was a bit more shitty in my opinion. Never finished that overrated waste of money and uninstalled it after the tutorial-like escape from jail. I later bought the GOTY edition of TES3: Morrowind (still need to finish it), which is better in my opinion. I wonder what people liked so much about Oblivion that it deserved to become GOTY, have two expansions and DLC.

Yes... very pretty... oh look, I just picked some primrose, how lovely. I think I'll eat it.

question I have is. Could you enjoy Oblivion without mods as well ?

I've played Morrowind and don't understand why so many people say it's that much better... it's really not THAT much better. There are more skills, some of them pointless like medium armor. I hate the interface and menus as much as Oblivion, which is why I have mods for that.
So it is that much better because it's not as extremely popular? No because Morrowind is extremely popular, that can't be it then. Funny, I didn't think Morrowind was THAT difficult but I have read people complaining about the difficulty numerous times, as many times as I've read about people complaining about Oblivion being too easy.
I do believe Oblivion is too easy, it has the same feeling of holding the player's hand through everything that Fallout 3 has, only to a lesser extent.
Fallout 1 and 2 were relatively easy for me, completing all of the quests and such. I had to look up a couple online the first time playing through however.
If it is an isometric view then it's easier to tell where you have to go and what you have to do, to me anyway.

I personally think the reason people (myself included) liked morrowwind so much more is the setting and story were much more fleshed out and interesting. The world was relatively creative.

Personally I hated the combat system though lol.

I enjoyed Oblivion greatly, as well as Fallout 3 (and FO1 and 2). But yes I found Oblivion oddly more enjoyable... I don't know whether it was because of the more cheerful environment or because it was my first RPG where you have that much freedom... oh well, I guess I'll never know :(

I hated Fallout 3 more but I still think that it's a superior game to Oblivion ( while still being shitty ).

If that makes any sense...

That doesn't make much sense...

Well I have played Oblivion and I don't like it very much. It's better than FO3 I guess.

Yeah, i mean, Oblivion was fun, but now that i'm used to Fallout's gameplay, it just feels weird and unnatural.
And also, after using the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. leveling up system, I find Oblivion very hard to enjoy playing. But it's still one of my favorite games.

This. I really wish Oblivion had an easier to use world builder; I'd be all over that.

Between the two, I'd pick Oblivion, but Oblivion's word felt really crowded (bunch of cities irrationally close together) yet empty (no 'life' outside beyond random groups of guys standing in places.

I freaking love Daggerfall. I got the demo in a PC Gamer magazine at age 9 and have replayed it countless times since. Honestly, it's not even that good of a game, but at the time it was amazing and there's a nostalgia factor I can't overcome. Daggerfall, Diablo, Fallout/Fallout 2, Wasteland and Baldur's Gate II formed the core games of my childhood.

Morrowind is really good, IMO, and objectively it's better than Daggerfall. What I love about Morrowind is that the setting is different than other RPGs. The society and structure of Vvardenfell is really well done. I have no idea why they included so many slaves, slavers and slaveowners in Morrowind and yet almost none in Fallout 3, despite slavery supposedly being a core problem in the Capital Wasteland.

Honestly, it's like Bethesda loses more and more of their balls as time goes on. Daggerfall was full of nudity and gore. Morrowind lost most of that - even censoring a couple explicit sexual references in Daggerfall books - but they tackled slavery in a really novel way. Everyone was racist as hell in that game.

Oblivion was shit. The first 5 or so hours were great, until the repetition caught up with me and I realized there was no need to care about anything that was happening.
