Yes. That's where according to one legend the Finns are from, "from the Ural in a bend in the Volga river". Then again in other times when we want to be allied with the west we are from places like Belgium etc.

There are some words from Russian that have become parts of the Finnish language, or there are Finnish versions of. There's a Finnish word "mesta" from the Russian word I can't type since I don't have cyrillic alphabet on this computer right now. It means "a place" in Finnish.I've studied some Russian, nice language. Also people in south of Finland pronounce their s as c kind of like the Russians.
