In the future, will Bethesda be capable to...

Oh right, I forgot about that there were plenty of muitfruit farms. :)
So your answer to my question is: They didn't have any renewable source of carbs, lived mostly from hunting dangerous radiated animals?

So if it's so easy to build purifier machines what is the water problem you keep saying?

If you ask me the hobos should have united to make their gang (is 3 enough for a gang?) and then make a water purifier. Then they wouldn't make the wasteland so dirty.
That is explained in game, the radiation in the D.C. area is aggressive, and any large scale water purification efforts fail because of it. Its why Project Purity failed in its attempts to purify millions of gallons of water daily, but Megaton is able to purify enough to sustain its actual residents.

You're thirsty, aren't you America? Not for knowledge or power, no. I'm not speaking metaphorically. You're thirsty for clean, fresh water. Hmm? Water is the foundation of life. But here in the Capital Wasteland, indeed in the entire country, water is polluted. Irradiated. Deadly. Maybe you've got a makeshift purifier that cleans one glass of dirty water a day. Or you sip from an ancient faucet in an abandoned subway restroom. But that's not really living, is it? You're simply existing, America. Postponing death for a day or two.

Making enough clean water to not die isn't the same as being able to make enough clean water as to actually thrive, and do things like farm.

...make a fallout game where you don't start in a vault?
I don't get why that's a big issue. The main games that don't start in a vault have given the player a vault suit for no reason. Why not just give the player a reason to have one by making them a vault dweller? However, I do not think they will be doing this too much more, regardless.

...stop creating stupid and unneeded reasons for the Super Mutants to exist?
Super Mutants are pretty much a staple of the franchise, whether you like it or not. If you don't agree, then that's your problem. It's like complaining that Star Wars still has storm troopers in the new movie, just because the empire was destroyed at the end of Return of the Jedi.

...realize it would be better to leave the job to Obsidian like they did with New Vegas?
That's a really dumb thing to even ask, just because it's their franchise and it's quite successful without Obsidian. I do agree that New Vegas is better than Fallout 3, though.

...Create new, logical and interesting factions/locations?
I guess I'm alone in thinking the Institute was pretty interesting and mysterious. It also makes a lot of sense that one of the biggest universities based around technology ended up surviving and continuing their work for many generations. I rather liked the Commonwealth, as well. Very fun to explore.

...understand what an RPG is?
As you said, this is debatable. However, if you think Fallout 3/Fallout 4 is not an RPG, then you yourself do not understand what it is. It stands for "role-playing game", and in these games, you role-play as a character of your choice. Therefore, by the very definition of the phrase, Bethesda's RPG's are still RPG's.

Again, then if this is the case they should all be dead. Deadly water should mean all life is dead. Which means they cannot eat. Which means without enough water they would all die regardless if some of them can have a glass a day.

If they can't farm... where the fuck do they get their food? From surprisingly not looted supermarkets?

Again, not really, they have plenty of anti-radiation drugs, and brahmin milk is also known to remove radiation. So long as they drink their milk they would be fine, as it would remove any rads one gets from eating the irradiated meat of animals and the like.

Whats more is that all the animals have mutated to negate most of the radiation. That has been lore since Fallout 1.

If they can't farm... where the fuck do they get their food? From surprisingly not looted supermarkets?
From all the animals they raise/hunt? There's over 26 brahmin being raised by people in Fallout 3(which is actually more then Fallout 1 showed)

On top of that, we know that
-Rivet City grows apples, carrots, potatoes, and pears, in its hydroponics lab, which it trades to other settlements for metal to do repairs on their ship.
-Rivet City also has a large supply of mirelurk meat, which they get from the mirelurks constantly trying to inhabit the lower levels of the ship.
-We see hunters roaming the wastes hunting yao guai, mole rats, mirelurks, and wild dogs, for meat.
-We know people eat fallout series staples of the always unseen iguanas and squirrels.
-People also mention eating radroaches, though it supposedly tastes like old boot.
-There are two kinds of mutfruit growing in the wasteland people harvest when they can.
-There is also enough trade with Point Lookout that they get a sizable amount of punga from there.
-People drink Brahmin milk, which supposedly has anti-radiation capabilities.
-Many raiders appear to be cannibals, so people are an option also.

There was even a fairly large mirelurk farm/meat processing facility inside the anchorage war memorial up until recently, when they were taken out by raiders and hired mercs.

First of all the manner in which I formulated the question was "Will Bethesda e able to make a fo game where you don't start in the vault" so I didn't say it's an "issue" but I just wonder on the possibility of seeing a new FO in the future where you don't start in a vault. On the other hand, I kind of got tired of that beginning sequence.

I consider Super Mutants "to be a staple" of FO1. They happened in FO1 and by FO2 they weren't the main focus anymore. So why should they appear in Boston? It's like they would appear in Fallout's Postwar France, if it existed.

The institute didn't ...suck...anyway it's a whole debate. The thing is they are not enough and the matter appeals to the issue of SM etc existing.

Regarding the RPG point, well maybe I wasn't really clear... It's true that it falls into the RPG category but I know that the origins of this genre, especially fallout had a different way of letting a player roleplay the game based on choices etc. Another debate on it's own...

I found FO4 to be forcing me on a path instead of allowing me to 'roleplay' my character how I want. Even FO3 was better at doing that. Never thought I'll be saying that.

One of the first things you should think about is "What do they eat?" but that would be logical. Instead you have baked beans, sugar bombs, and Nuka Cola from 200 years ago still untouched somehow.

The dog in fallout 1 has not been effected by radiation from memory. Nor did it mention animals being able to drink polluted water (unless it did, but after playing many times I do not remember it). If anti radiation drugs have been keeping them alive for 200 years should all of humanity be hooked on Radway by now since they are just as vital for life as water now?

Surely you can see why a world where people have 1 glass of water a day, need drugs to eat food, all have water purifiers bar a minority of hobos and still manage to eat 200 year old leftovers and raise mutant farm animals a little dumb.

To be fair Someguy provided a nice list that actually expands on what do they eat, but the problem is, pretty much all of it isn't really that staple. Hunting is risky and doesn't provide a safe amount of food, so it's limited. Agriculture can feed cities, hunting can't.

Sure that is dumb, but Fallout 3 doesn't show a world like that. As stated before, the vast majority of their diet isn't pre-war food, its post war animals, and people have been raising post-war animals, such as Brahmin, for their primary source of meat since Fallout 1.

Its a good thing they aren't trying to feed a whole city now isnt it?

The entire real world area of the D.C. wasteland is smaller then that of L.A., we are talking about feeding a number of people probably less then that of the boneyard.

Yes. I've seen some documentaries where they state that agriculture made civilization and settlements possible.

Its only going to last so long until the animal population runs thin. The thing is if the game explains it, sure you can make explanations but is there in game proof they do it?

Hmm the water problem is massive. How and where do they get their water? Wouldn't Megaton be a trading capital if it could trade water which is suggested, yet it remains a dingy backwater city?

Again, the mutant animals can drink radioactive water just fine.

In fact, its shown in Fallout 3 that clean water actually KILLS some animals, like mirelurks, because the animals have become so adapted to radioactive water.

And by the way, FO1 and FO2 were developed in such a manner that some things existed but were not seen. Like in a book.
FO4 is more like...real life in terms of "universe" that you can see.
I can't remember everything from the old FO's but some cities were shown in text by having more areas, stuff, people than you can see on your screen. Den comes to mind, I think..

But without water they have no meat without meat they have no brahmin, with no brahmin or 200 year old drugs they have no ability to eat what little meat they have. It also means they need lots of brahmin milk or they all die. Where are the huge brahmin farms to sustain the population?

Wouldn't that irradiate the animal and make them not fit to eat?

Well you're forgetting the BOS, the vast amount of raiders, the animals, the Enclave, the Talon company and various other groups that need food.

capable hands or join the ranks of the unintelligent whining irrelevant that the rest of the gaming communities ignores/ridicules.

Bethesda has been surpassed and frankly do not make stellar RPG's anymore - they make average games that get average scores now. They are good at making Minecraft games - for sure. CD Projekt, Obsidian, inXile, or Eidos Montreal would be far more 'capable' hands for the franchise.

Also, quite telling as to what a shining beacon of a community you belong to by calling people unintelligent whiners. The Golden Beacon of Bethesda on Reddit/Steam now attacks people that were only introduced to FO with Fallout 3 (but happen to dislike FO4) as fresh meat to attack now that there are more people this time around disliking their latest average game. Congrats, the community you espouse now attacks their own. That certainly doesn't sound like a community I would want to be around for having doubts or a dissenting opinion about Bethesda's latest and supposedly greatest.

Facts:

- FO4 is their most average game yet scoring less than FO3
- They use an aging janky buggy engine
- They regressed in the following that make up the core of an RPG: how to construct a compelling narrative; quest design (overall lazy C-); meaningful, in-depth character design; multiple branching choices in resolving dialogue
