In the future, will Bethesda be capable to...

He's the one that iwns the IP now,so.... 'Shrug'

Eh. Nothing in life is guaranteed, he doesn't own Zenimax, Zenimax actually owns the IP, not Todd. On the other hand, I may have learned something, as to why the games are being designed as they are. I need to do some research, but I have not had the chance yet.

EDIT: please reply to my post in the power armor thread, whether directly there, or PM, I would appreciate it much. I am honestly curious

My point being for now. Maybe even the forseeable future, but we both know not forever, one way or another.

Not as certain, this. Oh, I'm not referring to the origional developers getting it back. Im not even sure I would want that.

No, what I mean is that ME series has proven that choices and consequences can make money, and, my god, if they could combine the good fps mechanics, with meaninful choices, and consequences to those choices, this game would make so much money, they wouldn't be able to count it (Im exaggerating here, of course). Of course, I may be misunderstanding your meaning of "the origional formula", if so, feel free to elaborate.

Only reason it's "rotted" is because Bethesda got it's hand on it. Many games still come out on the old format and they do well. I guess they don't capture the attention of the Michael Bay fanbase but then again those people can be entertained with a bunch of dangling keys.

Granted, that Fallout 3 wouldn't have been as big a commercial success as Bethesda's take on it. But it could have been great.

We also both know the original owners have lost it for good and the original formula is dead and rotted one way or another.

In the hands of Bethesda? Yes. We definetly will never ever see a true Fallout game made by them as long as the same people like Tod and Emil are in charge. You are absolutely right with that.

The formula as whole? Dead and rotten? You must be living under a rock or something and ignoring all the kick starter games out there where people are making succesfull games inspired by Fallout 1 and many other old titles. They don't sell 30 million copies, granted. But who ever said they have to? Or that this is the only sign of success. Mc Donalds sells billions of burgers, doesn't mean other restaurants aren't also succesfull in what they do, and I hardly see someone calling McDonalds the king of good cuisine.

Hope you don't mind me adding to this but basically something that sells 30 million while another sells 10 million doesn't mean the one that sells more is of better quality, it simply means it sold more.

That's what I've been thinking after experiencing this 'thing' called F4: such a huge commercial success will likely further insulate them from the actual result of their efforts. It just seems that Bethy spent so many time with platitudes and mini-experiments (I d-o-n-'t care about freaking settlements) that went terribly wrong. Take Game of Thrones: it went down from Season 1 till there was nothing else. They made stop caring about the books and the whole Westeros world. Idk, people should send a massive petition to Bethesda... 'hey, don't ruin the franchise, greedy bastards'.

As long as they make money they'll ignore it.
