Interplay - coming soon

In a securities filing with the U.S. government made on November 30, 2006, an attached presentation proposed a massively multiplayer online game based on the Fallout computer game franchise, which the company previously published. The presentation projected that the company would need investment of seventy-five million U.S. dollars to complete the project, with production intended to begin January 2007 and a launch date of 2010. The filing did not address the proposal in the context of the company's financial debt.[6] In April 2007 Bethesda Softworks announced that they had purchased the rights to the Fallout franchise for a reported $5.75 million. The deal made Bethesda the sole owner of the Fallout intellectual property with Interplay becoming a licensee so they can continue to pursue a Fallout MMO.[7]

I think Interplay was horribly ripped off. But oh well. Capitalism's capitalism's eh? He who profits most, wins?

I hope they manage to make something out of FOOL (or die if the screw it up! ). I would love to see interplay back in business. Maybe it's just the love for the logo used in fallout, but something inside me hopes for another moment like that.

exciting pic!

I never thought I would see the day that I was actually excited about Interplay releases again...

Well, here comes the apocalypse, and don't look now but hell is completely frozen over

I love Interplay and games from interplay though... My best regards to FOOL project team ;-) and Good Luck :| . The Interplay need more than just luck... especially after last "successes" Oh my boy...
The public to know whether I am joking or whether I am serious.. see later)

A Fallout Franchised cRPG with the Interplay Logo and Ron Perlman is what I need. Bethesda can keep their Nine Vaults of Morrowind and stick it up their Fatman.

I wonder how badly will Interplay be fucked if they won't manage to make muliti-million copies sales of those game and FOOL won't be popular enough....

What I hope, is that if they failed at making a good game as regards their Fallout project, it won't have to much consequences on Bethesda Fallout 3 sales.

the logo on the website pic is bad

just look quality of it: not the same as of the cut-out pictures around it, and the effect on the font isn't really looking good.

but i like the tension between the different game arts

however the fallout concept art doesnt fit to the rest imo, as it is very grey-brown-greenish while the rest contains a lot of blue and cyan

But one question remains, will it explode in an nuclear explosion ? =>

From my perspective, it's the other way around. I believe the reason Interplay is doing FOOL is precisely to use the momentum of popularity the franchise may gain to launch to chip in on one of the most lucrative ventures out there, MMORPGs. Fallout was always sort of a cult hit and probably less recognizable to today's console market than Dark Alliance or maybe Earthworm Jim, and with FO fans being generally skeptical about this project, I don't think it would be their best alternative if not for Beth's new iteration on the franchise.

It seems to me this is a "do or die" kind of venture, since MMORPGs are expensive stuff and Interplay is still barely on its feet

couldn't they theoretically use the same engine as f1 / f2, or even tactics, and just 'convert' it to mmo form?

says i who knows nothing of the engine and so forth...

Let's say that it works in both situations. But, it's true that Interplay's got much to gain than to lose. On the contrary, if Interplay's game is crap, people can associate the two Fallout games (even if both are nothing to do with each other) and some may think that Bethesda's Fallout is also crap.

But in most case people use their brain and make the difference. So no reason to be afraid for Bethesda's sales.

I'm being way more optimistic about Interplays FOOL than Beths Fallout 3. Maybe it's because we've already lost any hope for good fallout 3 and we still don't know anything about FOOL(except it being a mmo game).
