Interplay Entertainment Corp. Investor Conference

is anyone else listening?

they chose the same background as i use for the presentations i whip together for lab meeting 5 minutes beforehand, we must be kindred spirits!

Okay... announcements soon about Fo3.
Hehe.
Let's see what they're gonna do about this.
I'm critical.

-700,000 units of FBOS and Dark Alliance 2 combined SHIPPED, not sold. He didn't mention any sales figures :P
-They're planning to publish Fallout 3 (for PC), external studio.
-Herve says they can't make Baldur's Gate 3, since they traded their DnD rights for the Dark Alliance rights or sth like that.
- They will not do a sequel to Brotherhood of Steel (!!!), but will do another Action/RPG console-oriented game in the Fallout world (...)
-The next Dark Alliance game will be with a new licensed engine, new technology. It will also NOT be based on DnD system/world but on a new Interplay world...
-They MAY have to sell licenses on IPs they don't intend to use.
-FBOS not selling well will decrease the revenue for Dark Alliance.
-His revenue is 20% PC, 80% console, according to the market's movements.

...and that's about it. I did expect it to last a bit more, it only took about 35-40 mins.

Aaaand another Fallout for the consoles.
Man, I've got to stop posting now :D

No you don't. Feel free, as long as that fucker refuses to connect me I have to settle to listening to second-hand

Haha :)
Okay.

Conclusion, so far:

Another FO
Console
Not a sequel to Fo: BOS
Not related to FO3 more action oriented

New or old engine?
Not sure

Might have to sell licenses

2 games in pre production internally
2 games in production internally

700000 titles of both BGDA and BOS SHIPPED (thanks Lord) :D

BG3 is apparantly under development by Acclaim... or something. His english isn't all that good.
The PC-market isn't off for them, they're gonna make games for the PC in the future.

What are your plans for Fallout 3?
We're going to publish Fallout 3.
Is that through an external company?
Correct.

No release dates, since they don't know how to get a developer yet.
Seems like 2005 though.

You may keep posting, or you can just make a single post and keep editing t3h shiznit out of it when new info comes, like I do :P

I don't know.
I don't think he said anything about that.
Hopefully someone will call in and ask about that :)

So the Fallout 3 which would be published through another studio would be PC or console?

They're working on a fallout 3 on the computer, and an additional fallout console title (that will not be a sequel to BOS, but will also be an action RPG)

Thanks Lord :)

Telephone conference ended.

Okay, at least we have something to wait for.
Fo3 announcements to come.
Allright, at least something's happeing.
And an external office to work on it. Is the office regulated by contracts or could they get anyone to do it?
Say... NiVAL or something?

I listened as well (last 15 minutes or so). Couldn't make much sense out of those nasal voices, but I did hear this:

Some guy mentioned that a lot of the BIS employees had moved to Obsidian. He asked whether IPLY considered working together with Obsidian where Obsidian would be developing games externally for IPLY. The answer was: 'Possibly.'

They also said they were going to focus on the next generation consoles but also still on the pc market.

Another guy made the remark that IPLY didn't really focus on the online world, and he asked whether IPLY was considering working together with other developers and such to focus more on the online world. Answer: yes.

Well... that's not much, but the Obsidian snippet seemed interesting to me. Sorry if this is just crap, but I had problems getting connected...

Ok, how does this look. Correct?

There are plans to publish Fallout 3 for the PC through an external studio

Baldur's Gate 3 is definitely no longer Interplay's, leaving them with Dark Alliance games

They will not do a sequel for Fallout Brotherhood of Steel (gee, maybe it flopped?), but will do another Action/RPG-crossbreed console game in the Fallout world. Plans on this are a bit shady, not sure which engine to use.

The next Dark Alliance game will be with a new licensed engine. It will be set in a new Interplay world, not on a DnD world

They may have to sell licenses currently not in use

Revenue of Interplay is now 20% PC, 80% console, according to the market's movements. Interplay will continue working on PC, even though their focus is console

There are currently 2 games in pre-production internally, 2 games in production internally, 1 of those currently under production at Black Isle studios

700000 titles of BGDA and BOS shipped, no sales figures mentioned (go figure), break-down roughly 400 BGDA2, 300 FBOS

Someone mentioned that a lot of former BIS employees now work at Obsidian, and seeing that asked if Interplay is considering working together with Obsidian (as an external developer). Answer: Possibly

Someone else remarked that Interplay's focus on the online world wasn't too big, and asked if Interplay was considering working together with other developers and focus more on the online world like that. Answer: yes
