Interplay reopens in-house studio, hires Jason D. Anderson

What would life be like if we bought Interplay?

It's worthless to us without the Fallout IP.

Unless you want to make Earthworm Jim's Postapocalyptic Adventures RPG. (lol Wooz) (I was deliberately referring to Vikings since 3 subscriptions is the most I think Interplay would manage to secure :P)

Would you love to see them made by 2007's IPLY, though?

Earthworm Jim: The Annelidhood of Creep!

Ahahaha D:

I second BN here, though, i'd love to see those seemingly forgotten franchises continued. Hm. They're all still property of Interplay? Maybe if pressed hard enough in front of the ghastly spectre of bankrupcy, they'll sell them as well, and will fall into the hands of people who will know what to do with them.

Better.

Hey, considering Interplay is in the red, if we pool all of our money together we can buy Interplay :D :

And we'd do a damn site better w/ it than they do......

You forgot to mention the flapper in front of you doing the Lindy Hop and the Charleston. Otherwise, spot on.

I'm amazed that this Interplay is so idiotic as to do nothing with those three great IPs that were mentioned. Course, as we witness almost daily with Bethsoft, it's not that hard to mess up even a towering classic IP through almost criminal mismanagement.

Damn! I knew I forgot something!

But yeah, they've got plenty of great IP's that we could run with, not to mention the fact that we could easily use the funds from running with those to make new IP's.

Hell, if we did a good enough job we could purchase our own island nation in the south pacfic and turn it into a veritable paradise. A new Athens, Walden II, a real Candyland!... of the mind.

Actually, I might've remember incorrectly, I think Lost Vikings is owned by blizzard. You can play a demo of their Gameboy version here.

MDK, Descent, Battle Chess, Dark Alliance and Earthworm Jim are all Interplay's. I think they sold Redneck Rampage.

Well it's not exactly surprising that Herve hasn't done anything with all those IPs, considering he ran Interplay into the ground and there's been no actual development studio to, you know, develop a game using one of the IPs (if I understand correctly).

Although I suppose that's (maybe) changed now. Who knows, maybe the mystery game being developed is MDK Online.

I'm not too fond of the idea of a Fallout MMO but just think about this. Fallout 3 - Dead; what if they surprised us and the MMO was actually amazing and all of us could duke it out on the "interweb" hah. Only problem is, I would never pay monthly for a game, ever! I tried playing WOW but it got boring after 3 days; I played like 1-3 hours a day for that period). Or maybe thats way too optimistic! :)

it is.

(it's also one of the most obvious easter eggs in WoW at lower levels.

Heh,

Man, I remember playing all of those games. They were all great. MDK especially. I loved the atmosphere in MDK, especially those gigantic alien cities made entirely of glass. Really got immersed in the experience, despite combat being a tad repetitive. Still a great and fun game. Ribbon chute FTW. :P

Oh, and let's not forget the Lost Vikings. First game I ever completed from start to finish without the use of cheat codes, back in 1994. :D
