Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Hi, i'm RiK... from Coimbra, Portugal (just like Briosafreak, i think).

I've been around for a very long time (on many boards whose talk is Interplay and BIS games) but i registered on NMA just an hour ago. I'll take the time to say i admire your persistence and love for great crpg's.

I'm really excited about the upcoming FO3 although i haven't really made up my mind about Bethesda's capabilities. I sure hope they don't f*** up. Would also like like to see a 3rd Baldur's Gate (don't flame me on this one), that pcgamer announcement got me pretty anxious about that.

BEM VINDO!

It`s great to have you here , welcome Rik, and yeah i`m from Coimbra also, the nick kind of points it doesn`t it? :)

It sure does.. If you're really a freak, guess I probably know your face, i usually go to the games with some guys from Mancha Negra, although i haven't seen many games last year...
You think we'll be safe from relegation sooner this year?

Don`t think so, and i don`t go to watch their games at least for three years, i`m oldschool though, used to move all around the country following them, but i don`t do it anymore. Might go sometimes this year to try out the new stadium.

What's Briosa, then? Some kind of place in that Coimbra place place thingy of yours?

My name is Ashmo and I've got a lurking problem.

...

Well, actually I stopped lurking this month and only got an alcohol problem, but I don't see it as a problem, it's just everybody else telling me it is.

I think I've been registered before. I also think I don't remember my old login.

Uhm.. Oh, yeah! Visit htt... wait, I don't think I'm allowed to advertise. Nevermind.

...

I... err...

Nice weather isn't it?

Drunken posts to NMA: allowed. Naked pictures of girlfriend uploaded to NMA: Preferred.

Glad to meet you Ashmo!

Sorry to Briosafreak to give out this one.

Briosa refers to a football (or soccer) club/team from Coimbra. Coimbra has a very unique story, legend, mystery and appeal.. it would be hard for me to explain it correctly.
Let's just say that the club's name is Académica de Coimbra, how many football/soccer teams have a feminine name? Briosa is like a nick given to the team, it means something like courageous but not like the underdog courageous... more like the gallant type. Am i being clear? Excuse my english..
Académica has allways been a students club. The name itself links the club/team to the university and, some decades ago, being a Coimbra student meant a lot as it is one of the oldest and most famous universities in Europe alongside Salamanca. The students here in Coimbra were known to be poor, hardworking fellows... but when they had not their noses between the books they were getting drunk, serenading beautiful girls, falling in love, etc, etc.. (imagine a drunken, loyal paladin apprentice).
The football team players were *always* students, they had to succeed in their studies to be able to play for Académica, they also had to be loyal, polite and courageous to play.. that was the tradition. The only title we ever got was a Portuguese Cup back in the 50's, since then the team is nicked Briosa. They won against giants like Porto, Benfica and Sporting.. they were all simple students.

I don't know if I explained it correctly to you.. briosa is a word wich is very difficult to translate to other languages just like "fado" and "saudade".

Besides the Cup beeing in the 30`s (it was the first one ever) it`s a wonderfull description. A few players could not be university students, like people from the Armed Forces, but yeah that was the idea.

A bohemian and loyal paladin, that was me twelve years ago :D

Edit: hello Ashmo, just put the site you want to publicize on your sig, that`s allowed.

Hello Lady Ronin.

Hi, I'm DarkLegacy. I've had this name for around 2 years now. I play various types of games including FPS, TPS, MMORPG, RPG, and RTS.

I own around 20 games. I actually have around 120, thanks to the power of: KazaA, Share_or_die, BitTorrent, and friends who burn me their games that they've bought.

I spend most of my time on the computer (around 12 hours), and I really like fallout.

I've recently been having problems with fallout though like with Fallout 1, as soon as I get to the northwest corner of the Military Base it starts lagging like hell. In Fallout 2, my save game corrupted for NO REASON.

Anyway, ciao.

FO rulez.
