Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

I will refrain from making a joke about how the Soyuz is only good for one shot, where as Wooz, I mean the new Kliper, is good for around 25, uh, flights.

Trying to partition Poland again, you filthy totalitarian hentai robot?

Everyone? Do you mean... even... the... PLUMBERS?!

Yes. In their work overalls.

Silencer, stop spamming or I'll like, ban you.

Ah. The amusing notion of "balance of fear"...

The other way around. Uh, I, uh, think he's proposing something in the way of joining NATO for the second time. Or maybe a new Targowica Confederacy, I don't know.

That'd be great! Together we shall both sedate our unsuspecting victims and worship hen... Wait... YOU worship hentai. Argh! Off to the gul... uh, Happy Camp with you! Eat fabulous food and have lots of exercise and access to our best doctors!

Kotario said:
Though if you want to spam, why not try the various picture threads?

I would, but it's kinda Wooz's turf, so I'm left here to huddle in darkness like a baby seal.

Does any of the above make sense to you?

Anyway, welcome everybody, enjoy your stay, keep away from people in lab coats and I'm unsubscribing this thread as soon as I post this! :D

Hello NMA'ers!

Hey boys and girls,

I'm really just dropping in to say hello and introduce myself. I'm another Bethesda dev who's been lurking around the forums for a while now, but has never actually posted. It's so much easier to just sit back and watch Pete Hines get tossed into the meat grinder. :P

I'm Emil Pagliarulo, a designer on TES 4: Oblivion. I've been at Bethesda for a couple years now. Before that I was at Ion Storm Austin, and before that at Looking Glass Studios...working on the Thief series.

I thought Thief fans were the most passionate gamers on the planet...and then I met the Elder Scrolls fans. Then I thought THEY were the most passionate gamers on the player...until I met you guys and found out you had killed all the Elder Scrolls fans and fed them to the Deathclaws! :)

Seriously, though, you guys are awesome. In the few months I've been visiting these forums I've seen more spirited, passionate, intelligent game design discussion than I have on a lot of other game forums in the past few years.

Anyway, it's good to finally introduce myself and I promise I won't be a stranger.

Til next time, stay safe, and don't forget your Rad-X.

Emil

We appreciate that, but since I fail to see any "Fallout 3 ideas" as such, or idea requests, I'm merging this to the "Hello Thread".

It's great to have you with us, Lohan.

You're more than welcome to take part in our discussions, but please pay heed to the organisation of these boards - it's meant to make everybody's life easier. :)

Heh, yeah, I noticed the "introduction" thread right before you moved it. D'oh!

I'll be more dilligent in the future; I promise. Don't unleash Roshambo on me just yet. :)

(I actually think that scene in Clash of the Titans would have been a lot more memorable if Lawrence Olivier had ordered, "Let loose the Roshambo!" Perseus would never have made it off of Minos alive....)

Lohan? Would your first name happen to be Lindsay? TEH HOT!

Wait, no, dev...damn, that's a disappointment. Male? Boring. Go away.

Ha, I kid! Welcome to our little community, I say! I have been out of the country for almost your complete lurking time, so prepare for some shocks as you have never been shocked before

"Lurking" out of the "country", eh?

*nudge nudge wink wink*

"Shockers", eh?

SAY NO MORE!

That would make an awesome sig :)

Looking Glass?...Dude that`s one of the best cards anyone can bring here, there were always a lot of Looking Glass fans at NMA throught the time the place exists. Already a few guys at my msnmessenger are freaking out :)

I thought Thief fans were the most passionate gamers on the planet...and then I met the Elder Scrolls fans. Then I thought THEY were the most passionate gamers on the player...until I met you guys and found out you had killed all the Elder Scrolls fans and fed them to the Deathclaws! :)

You got that right!
But you`ll find fans from either Dagerfall or Morrowind here too.
Seriously, though, you guys are awesome. In the few months I've been visiting these forums I've seen more spirited, passionate, intelligent game design discussion than I have on a lot of other game forums in the past few years.

We`ll see if we can keep the pace

I never forget those. Don`t be stranger now, and remember to always wear your armour

Sausage, or schnitzengrüben? :D

A favorite of mine and a game I consider to be a landmark, certainly.

I thought Thief fans were the most passionate gamers on the planet...and then I met the Elder Scrolls fans.

I tend to disagree. I just think TES fans are more numerous. :) Thief fans have gone to great lengths to provide for the community and support a network much like ours, and for a game that by nature many people didn't care to play much then or couldn't get into yet. I have always considered TTLG a sort of sibling site in those that provide a good record of excellent games throughout history. The Ranger HQ is another place with another group a bit passionate in their own right, for Wasteland.

I'll be more dilligent in the future; I promise. Don't unleash Roshambo on me just yet.

Well, according to David "Exponentially Laughable Excuse Boy" Gaider....

*rabidly chomps teeth on the end of a leash*

Then I thought THEY were the most passionate gamers on the player...until I met you guys and found out you had killed all the Elder Scrolls fans and fed them to the Deathclaws! :)

*belches* Oh, damn...have to leave room for the puppies. :puke:

Kotario: Yes

Lindsay Lohan... grrr.... Damn Lindsay Lohan for stealing my handle! Damn her to the hell of cookie cutter made-by-Disney stars!

Seriously, though, I've used the handle "Lohan" for years, and Lindsay Lohan's rise to fame has been a real sore spot for me. For those wondering, a "Lohan" is either a.) one of the guardians of the ancient Shaolin Temple or b.) one of Buddha's enlightened. I liked both definitions. Did I mention I despise Lindsay Lohan?

The Thief: Gold Opera House? Wow, yeah, I think I did the voice acting for that guy in there! Ha ha ha! That was a lot of fun. That's was back in the days before Hollywood invaded the games industry, when voice acting was done internally by employee hacks like myself. I also did the whiny noble and bank president in Thief 2, and a few other random parts too, if I remember correctly. I hear that stuff now and cringe, believe me...but it still hasn't stopped me from doing some placeholder dialogue for Oblivion. heh. But I think the world's a much safer place if I stick mostly to design....

I really loved my time at Looking Glass. I couldn't think of a better place to learn how to be a professional game designer. I felt a lot like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting -- the poor kid from South Boston who got to rub elbows with the MIT intellectual elite. Of course, I wasn't a volatile math genius. But I did lear DromEd, which is almost as impressive. (Thief modders -- can I get a "whoop" "whoop"?) :)

As for comparisons between the Thief and Fallout fans -- yeah, I largely agree. Thief fans were, and still are, an elite, hardcore group with an intimate knowledge of the game and its universe. NMA reminds me a lot of TTLG in that regard.

The Thief fans, like you guys, were left for a long time to reminisce about the "good old days" while wondering if they'd ever get a new title in the series worth a damn. Some were very happy with Thief: Deadly Shadows. Others...not so happy. But hey, at least the Thief fans didn't get a watered down, "Thief: Brotherhood of Hammers" that was only vaguely even set in the same universe...

Bwahahahaha, oh man, you'll do fine here.

Man, Thief, gold ('nough said)

Also, would you mind if I use my awesome admin-powers to give a Lindsay Lohan avatar? The hawt!!!!
