inXile and Unity crowdsourcing Wasteland 2 3D models

It's a Modron turret, guys. Just put a crossbow there instead of autogun.

The 3D turret is well made and very faithful to the concept art.
But :
- the concept art is not bad but i don't know...
- it will be better with the right scale
- it's in 3D
With the release of BGEE i'm replaying it (but not the EE edition, the classic one modded).
Makes me realize how much i miss this kind of isometric graphics.
It so much better.
I don't need zoom or mobile camera.
I'm very frustrated right now that W2 won't have this kind of graphic.
The work in progress Project Eternity graphics without being awesome are great in isometric perspective.
I don't get it why it's so hard to make game like that again because on the commercial front i'm quite sure fallout/BG graphics would sell as much those 3D one.

Well the question is what should a semi-3d version of Wasteland look like? It seems this is left to a lot of interpretation when you have to base it off of an 8-bit game. Or maybe in a way people want this to be the Van Buren that never was. Do we really want nothing more than just a Fallout clone?

A lot of people wanted or expected Wasteland 2 to be/look like Fallout, yes. It does need to find its own aesthetic, but that is unquestionable more exaggerated/lighter than Fallout was, coz Wasteland was really cartoonish in many ways.

Currently I don't mind how Wasteland 2 will look like in the end. But if I look at the train screenshot and imagine the turret into the scene... it clashes in style for me.

Baldur doesn't look like Fallout
Fallout doesn't look like Arcanum
Arcanum doesn't look like ToEE
ToEE doesn't look like JA2
JA2 doesn't look like Planescape T
Wanting W2 to have the same kind of "isometric view" than Fallout (and those other games) has nothing to do as wanting W2 to play and look like Fallout.

Glittering Gems of Hatred: "Boo Bethesda! We could care less about your graphics and your immershun. What we really want is challenging gameplay, depth of writing, choice & consequences!

inXile: "Well hey guys, we're all about what you're asking for. Come take a look!"

Glittering Gems of Hatred: "RARGLE BARGLE BARGLE GRAPHICS.
It 's more a question about the style and 3D thing than about the graphic quality.
I play some games which have very simplistic graphics (like Fantasy general or Battle of Wesnoth for example) without issue because i find their style relevant/good.
I just don't like this specific 3D style.
Also like i said i just replayed Baldur right now and i miss this kind of graphic/style/view, especially when looking back at the early work in progress W2 graphics.
Well i just hope it will get better and in the end gameplay and story dept is for sure the most important.

On an unrelated note I really like the look of the train engine "fortress". Would've been a cool type of Fallout villain/faction, one that travels around on a train or something where the hero has to "hijack" it old west style. Dunno just spitballing on a hungover Sunday :)

Brian just showed me some new screenshots. They'll show more soon, of course. I think these screens will put the whole "cartoony" thing to rest. The train scene already gives a decent idea though, but high-quality pics will show more about their design style.

That is not what I was talking about. People expected Fallout 2.5. It's not.
