inXile funding Torment

We're still nailing it down, tho', with Torment's
existence still up in the air it's not solidified yet.

You mean because it hasn't been successfully funded on Kickstarter yet? Because the Kickstarter is starting up tomorrow right?

EDIT: Applied patch and it's oh so nice to have mousewheel support in Thief. Oh so nice. <3 <3 <3
And high resolution modes were added too. <3 <3 <3

I'm looking forward to someone like Bethesda or EA abusing Kickstarter to fund their next game cheaply, just so I can rub this in your face.

I backed it. It's impressive how fast it's growing. I thought there would be some backlash because, as Jebus has highlighted, they want more money without having delivered any products yet.

Still, their reasoning for it makes sense. And it's Torment. How can you say no?

Thinking about backing it, if only because I will probably buy it anyway.

But at the same time, $65 for a physical copy? Wouldn't we be better off just waiting for release. There is no way they'll charge that much then.

As has been said, I trust Fargo but I'd be more comfortable dropping some extra once they deliver on the first kickstarter project... though it looks like they will, so I'm still thinking.

Well I don't think that Jeebs concerns are his typical crazy babbling though (love you jeebs :3!).

Outside of W2 or any other project, but has been ANY Kickstarter project released so far? We have seen a lot of attention, a lot of projects, and quite a lot have been funded and are in development.

With such a huge number of projects it would be somewhat I think a bit naive to believe that all of them will be successful in the end.

I am as happy like everyone else to see sequels to games I really love. Particularly as in many cases there are the original developers working on it one way or another. But one can be a fan and still have an critical opinion.

Ah, the link explains everything nicely and makes even sense! So Jebbs is an lunatic.

mhmm ... space-ship-strategy-role-playing game with permadeath and ramdomized content (what I got from some German review). Sounds at least interesting.

*Edit

Wtf ...

already half of the money, well almost! Possible that Torment will even get more money together then Wasteland 2?

how much will it be in the end? What do you think.

I say it will be around 3.5 M. maybe even 4 million.

Just a guess though.

imagine something like that would really happen ...

what would that say about the "hardcore RPGs dont sell anymore!" comments some like to throw around so much.

My prediction: 2.6 m, and I hope they'll do much better than that. 4 m would be awesome.

Yea Crni, that is my fear with a lot of these. I know the board games a lot of my coworkers backed on kickstarter have been disappointments. But a lot of that might just be the astronomical expectations people have with the months of anticipation.

Overall, this kickstarter is going incredible. Nearly two million dollars one day in. I think it's going to really surprise a lot of people.

I don't know about games but yes. I kickstarted Twinks' band's CD and got it. I also got Amanda Palmer's kickstarter record on vinyl. I only backed video games apart from that and all of those are still in development.

I have a few things I've kickstarted. 99 Shades of Grey (I'm in the book), a fake marathon thing (I have a tshirt and bib number). The biggest being FTL: Faster Than Light. It was already in development, but raised a ton of money and is pretty much the only roguelike I can tolerate playing, it's great.

Edit: The Banner Saga also released a multiplayer version of the game, and is making a lot of progress.

oh well even if it is definitely not my kind of game, I am glad that kick starter makes it possible to give people which seek such gaming experience a chance to get that.

Without crowd funding I guess such project would only collect dust. It does feel a bit like the past where many smaller game studios made a few really awesome games before they got bought eventually by bigger companies or even pushed out of business.

Why should the gaming market not have room for more projects? It works very well for movies. Not all of the "good" movies have to be made in hollywood
